DHL - union busters

Well just a short time ago I found out DHL is trying, and uses practices for union busting. DHL actually hires full time people from 'temp" agencies. UPS and Fedex are union. DHL is not. If and when the DHL full time "temps" try to unionize, DHL simply changes to a different "temp" company hiring new "temps" and laying off current 'temps". DHL has changed temp agencies 3 times in order to union bust. And naturally, these full time "temps" work for min wage with NO benefits. DHL... does anyone really want to use them?

The real question here is: DHL... does anyone really want to work for them?

If enough people stop working there, DHL will change its practices or die.

Wow, guess I won't be using DHL anymore.

Actually, I'm now more inclined to use them. Thanks for the heads up.

BTW a company should be able to fire anyone for any reason. Making union members a protected class is absurd.

I'm going to ship DHL tomorrow, actually.

some no benny minimum wager is going to steal your package. 🙂

That's funny, those union workers at UPS are doing a great job of getting my packages to me safely.

HP in the '80's was famous for having the happiest employees. But there really were few of them, they used temps for most positions.

Most UPS drivers are contractors, not employees. There are employee drivers around though, and they are union.

one of us is misunderstanding the other 🙂

Well consider this friends...
So you enjoy paying for DHL workers health care??? Like wal-mart, DHL does an even better job at passing "their" health care cost onto YOU. DHL, no benefits, no insurance, min wage. So who do you think pays when a DHL worker is hurt or their family needs a doc, the tooth fairy? Its you. Apparently you enjoy this practice? And when your company comes to you and says, "hey guy, we're dropping your company insurance. Too costly". Guess you?ll just say, ?wow, I?m all for that!?.

I'd bet most of you anti union and DHL pro folk currently have company insurance AND make more than min wage AND have job security. Are you in danger of being laid off at a whim? Bet not... But then again, look behind you, your own company may use these practices in the near future. Good luck!

End socialism and this wont be a problem. I LOVE how people blame companies for not giving benefits rather than the government for giving them in this argument.

BTW, I pay for it either way, be it through taxes, or the increase of cost for goods and services. Your point is moot.

yup, and how quickly they all have forgotten that without Unions there would be no OSHA, no mimumum wage, no employer-provided health care
...no lunch break, no coffee breaks.

There are good unions and bad, just like anything in the world. And much like the Masons, the stories are often exaggerated and unsubstantiated.
