Thinking like this would keep the left from creating what it fears, I think.

I was up to 3am as usual last night, this time watching how an organic farmer makes 350 thousand a year on one and a half acres. He started with 30 thousand and will pay the farm off in his 7th year. He'd also never farmed before. Just approached the issues he faced with logic and rapidly advancing research in soil science. I think he does 100000 in tomatoes a greenhouse that would fit in my back yard.

As for the original part of this thread...while I (and many fine people) tend to believe such tales about King Donnie the Dotard, it was pretty foolish of MSNBC to even mention the possibility of a Russian oligarch without more info than a rumor.
Sure, O'Donnell has walked that back, but the "fake news" has already killed any credibility should the story finally check out in some way. (me, I'm STILL waiting for the pee tapes to surface)

Personally, when you speak of killing credibility, you are talking about a cult that lives fake news as their daily bread and organisms when the left acknowledges it was in error to indulge in unverified speculation. I'm don't much give a shit about the credibility of the mentally ill. It is the nature of fanatics that they can trust or distrust anything. What they think is meaningless. So this O’Donnell dipshit has withdrawn his "speculation" about Russian co-signers and has apologized for jumping the gun in his reporting. Maybe he should have just "Fox newsed" it and said that "people were saying". You can say anything you want if you preface it that way. It's called a Republican blanket.

At any rate. This hardly exonerates Trump against the charge that he was obtaining loans from Deutsche Bank that we’re being funded by Russian oligarchs. Trump was only getting loan money from Deutsche Bank because nobody else would lend to him. And Deutsche Bank was proven to be laundering Russian money. For the record, my "speculation" is I believe that Trump is compromised by Russia six ways from Sunday.

By the same token, maybe Deutsche Bank simply sees something that evades other bankers, that Trump is a splendid, tremendous investment opportunity and they are eager to take advantage of his acute business savvy. Trump casino's, Trump Steaks, Trump Vodka, Trump University, The Bed Bug Resort Chain. The list goes on and on, and all stand as monuments to bold entrepreneurial adventures and sound business decisions. Who can say for sure that Russian investors don't see the same things the Deutsche Bank does, and just want to get in on a sound investment!

And there are other explanations than a compromised President. He may, for instance, have developed a very positive approval of Mr Putin. After all, he has had plenty of opportunities before and during his Presidential campaign to bask in his presence and access Vlad's character. After all, Trump has frequently expressed his admiration of Putin's "brass balls" that clank when he walks.

I kinda doubt it though. Ever since the Republican Convention, when Jar-Jar Binks gave the nominating speech...

First, we have no idea if it was true or not. Second, everyone here was very clear that it was unverified and treated it as such. Remember, we aren’t like you where we uncritically accept anything that tells us what we want to hear. Not everyone reasons emotionally instead of logically like you do.

If you’re interested in large amounts of evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russian government you simply have to read the Mueller report. It extensively lists it. It’s frankly bizarre that you guys are still trying to gaslight America by describing a report that details extensive collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia along with strong evidence of multiple felonies by the president as somehow exonerating.

Do you really expect the country to believe lies that obvious?

I didn’t watch the show last night and I typically find Lawrence overly dramatic but from the text it appears he made a good apology.
He noticed the mistake, promptly admitted it via Twitter, then made a clarification on his show.
I’d have no problem with the dumb-dumbs on fox doing the same thing however the key is in the prompt part.

Typically I don’t watch Lawrence for the above mentioned reason but I will say he appears to be a class guy. After his heart attack(?) he had a good talk about the Koch hospitals, how they were run well and I think they were easy to deal with for him. I think he even mentioned something about all the Uber wealthy so do something like the Koch’s have done with their hospitals. He did say he doesn’t believe in Citizens United or wealthy guys having more say but those are different topics.

I’ve never watched his show ever but from my understanding he did not say that the story was false, simply that he had insufficient corroborating evidence to publish.

I’m glad he said that because acknowledging mistakes is what good news organizations do. It’s what separates real news from the shit SlowSpyder reads.

Unsure of it enough to start a thread and the high fiving over it. It there was an obvious connection to collusion the Democrats would be running forward with impeachment proceedings. As it is they're sitting on their thumbs. Much like the content of this story, the reality is that you TDS'ers latch on to anything that gives you good feels because it is anti-Trump. Us more measured and logical types sit back and let the evidence present itself. So far, zero collusion impeachment proceedings. Nada, zilch. So far zero piss video, nada, zilch (which is a shame, if there was one that's only make me like Trump more). And this story turned out to be 100% fake news, nothing to do with truth, everything to do with pushing an agenda and some leftist "journalist" getting to enjoy the spotlight for a short bit. But like CNN with the Covington School kids, they pushed a narrative ahead of the facts. Why does "unbiased" journalism have a narrative? The leftist fake news mainstream media does this a lot with this president.

This is what happened. He stated he should have waited before reporting to have more confirmation. He is not saying it was false which the right is trying to claim was done. They are simply desperate to try and confirm "fake news" while ignoring the integrity being shown by retracting which the right NEVER does.

Also, why would Trump being impeached make SlowSpyder like him more? Shouldn’t it be based on his actions in office?

It’s more about the expectation we all have for immediate news, this is really a bothsides thing.
I’m okay with whomever making a bad call or bad report provided they promptly admit it was rushed or vetted wrong or written wrong or whatever, then correcting it in the same format as they published it.
Again the key is promptly, waiting weeks or months or folding because of enormous pressure doesn’t count.

This doesn’t mean a reporter should have a free pass to constantly make the same damn mistake day after day either.
 
I would say the closest analogy to this situation is what happened in 2017 when CNN published an article claiming Scaramucci had met with the CEO of the sanctioned Russian Direct Investment Fund and possibly discussed ending sanctions as some sort of quid pro quo, and was being investigated by the FBI and Senate Intel Cmte. Scaramucci threatened legal action, then CNN immediately retracted it and fired 3 of the people who worked on the story.

After that, the damage was done. Didn't matter if some of the facts were later found out to be true and verified in the Mueller Report (meeting happened, Scaramucci discussed sanctions, but no evidence of any further investigation beyond what Nader told Mueller's Grand Jury)--nobody ever brought it up again. By jumping the gun on the story, CNN in effect buried it. I think Lawrence O'Donnell may have done the same thing here--now nobody will care if Trump Co got a loan cosigned by Russians because it's already been "fake news'ed".

I didn't make a fake news accusation, why are you quoting me? I posted a link to a retraction of a story that was false. The "journalist" had no evidence, no eye witness, no paper trail, no documentation at all. The retraction that you think proves his integrity was made under threat of litigation.

We have no idea if the story was false or not. O'Donnell simply said he had insufficient corroborating evidence to run with it. You falsely representing the story is ironic, however, haha.

Also, Trump routinely threatens litigation over stories that are undeniably true so the fact that he was threatening to sue over it means literally zero. It's always important to remember that Trump's words and threats of lawsuits mean less than zero. You should simply ignore them and pretend they never happened.

"Fake news" or not it seems the Trump tax returns remain private for now which is a damn shame and that's not something you should be doing a partisan happy dance about. I disagree with the "Congress can get any tax return at any time" law on privacy principles but it is the law and POTUS should rightfully have perhaps the lowest privacy expectation of anyone in the U.S. Doesn't mean DeustcheBank employees should leak them if they're not legally entitled to do so, but if Trump continues to attempt to shield them I have no doubt they will be leaked at some point.
 
What O'Donnell did was a great example of the sort of journalistic ethics that the mainstream media has and conservative media does not. He should be congratulated for it but instead conservatives will attempt to make this example of integrity a way to attack him.

What he did - that kind of innuendo - is something Trump and Fox do constantly on a daily basis. It is shamelessly the bread-and-butter of their rhetoric. At least he had enough principles to retract it, which is something Trump and his brain handlers at Fox pretty much never do.
