Thanks, I appreciate it. I certainly do feel like IW was a letdown, but that is usually the case when a PC exclusive goes multi-platform.

This widescreen fix stops dx2 from starting for me and gives an error about a file not being there or something when im installing it.
As for the game not starting, Default.ini seems to be the main culprit. My normal default.ini has different things in it compared to your modified one and this seems to stop the game starting all together.
My ini

Yours is missing locale completely

You miss the 4 cadance lines I have
My engine file seems to have differences too but its too hard to pinpoint them due to the file size, I can't notice a difference between the engine files gameplay wise
That sounds good,
I am curious, does your widescreen fix make any changes to the engine.d2u file?
I found an old widescreen fix from 2003 where the engine file is edited with a hex editor and 3 instances of "AA 42" are replaced
http://widescreengamingforum.com/dr/deus-ex-invisible-war
These 3 instances still exist in your engine file though, which was why I was wondering.
Hi, first of all: Great work so far, an automated program to enable widescreen in Invisible War is badly needed. However, the current process of altering the original files within the setup archive and then replacing their counterparts in the InvisibleWar root folder is problematic because both the Default.ini and the Engine.d2u files are language dependent. For example, your Engine.d2u has a file size of 1.595.246 Bytes, mine is 1.595.256 Byte big. The WS patcher works in that it alters the FOV correctly (as can be seen in the menu or loading screens) but all the .bik videos do not play (black screen instead, can be aborted with Esc key) and the game crashes before loading a real level instead of the main menu.
I'm using a prepatched (v. 1.2) retail UK version of Invisible War. Other european versions could also be different. Here are the respective files if you want to fiddle around with them: http://www.mediafire.com/?nce6yywxych9mry
Allright, I'll be waiting then.
BTW: Do you plan on adding support for Thief 3 as well? It should technically need the same alterations.
Sooo ... any progress so far?![]()
Sorry for the late answer, of course, here it is:I stopped working on it because there was no longer any interest. However, I did change the code to edit the files in place and not replace them, just never released it. The remaining problem is the .d2u file. Can you re-upload an unchanged UK engine.d2u file so I can take a look at it?
Sorry for the late answer, of course, here it is:

As for the dwindling interest: That's pretty normal for oldish games like TDS or IW, don't think about it. There will always be some people who want to replay some titles from their library and I for one would be very glad to have a handy tool like yours at hand.![]()
Works like a charm, thanks!2.2.0 BETA should fix everything, let me know if there are any issues.
I bought Dues Ex during a Steam sale, but haven't played it yet. Thanks W4N for putting this together!
Works like a charm, thanks!
Help! I just stumbled across your program and used the beta version.
I patched IW and it worked fine and all, but the FOV is all messed up, even though I set it to 90 and I tried other degrees as well.
I'm using the Steam version and my screen is 22,5" running at 1920x1080.
I attached a screenshot below:

i have the GOG version with texture pack but somehow i can't seem to install / launch properly![]()
