I'm not too worried about DX12 not being available at launch (though it would be nice of course) most title so far show little to no performance gains, or even a regression on nVidia cards which is what I'm running. Unless DX12 is also going to come with more enhanced visuals or more complex environments, it's a non-issue to me.

Interesting specs. It says "mankind divided" but I think the only thing being divided are the gamers with 16gb of ram from those who have 8gb. We'll see what it does.

Posted some screenshots here, but Witcher III yesterday was using just under 7.5GB total memory out of 16GB. If MD uses 11GB or 12GB go for it. 8GB is the absolute minimum you should be using in 2016 anyway. Apps and Chrome have gotten fat. Not to mention AAA games. Those consoles are good for something.

Add the "commit size" column to your details tab in task manager and you'll see how much it really uses.

I still want to play it, but I'll wait until I can with great performance and IQ. I pre-ordered ROTTR expecting it to have the perf increases from DX12 and those have only finally started to show up with the last patch.

Like doom, its $30 vs $60 and runs much better now.

Maybe they learned from their mistakes from ROTTR and have learned how to do DX12 better and will get it right this time. We can hope. :)

Compared to TressFX, Eidos Montreal’s R&D lab has significantly improved rendering, employing PPLL (Per-Pixel Linked List) as a translucency solution. The developer has also enhanced simulation significantly via async compute for better workload distribution.

https://www.deusex.com/

The DX12 patch is going to use async compute. This will be a good title to see how the new and old cards from both vendors handle DX12 using async. May be preferential to AMD because it's a Gaming Evolved title. I want to see how DX12 works out in this game once the patch with it releases the Sept. 5th week.

With Nixxes Software (low latency Crossfire Mantle & True Audio pioneering work with Thief) doing the PC version DX12 should be good, I'm waiting for that version.

One of the guys over at neogaf got a preview key and while he obviously didn't go into spoiler territory (NDA and such) he did confirm that the game was running very good.
He is using a GTX 770 2GB with an i5 processor and is getting
55-60 FPS on medium,
45-50 FPS on high and
40-45 FPS on Ultra settings.

It also has MSAA support.
Here are the settings menus on PC:

seems good. What was gameGPU talking about then? I really hope the vram requirements are manageable on fury cards. Sounds like maxing out at high res should be possible, at least in dx12

A 770 getting 40FPS on Ultra? Well optimized if true, the 770 is the definition of obsolete.

Would have to see the game in motion. Some of them pics of in-game don't look terribly bad. I've also been playing Bloodeborn out the ying-yang, so I think right now my IQ perspective is off haha.

It seems its an early DX-12 version, official DX-12 patch will be released on the 5th of September.

Damn, 37 fps at 1440p on a 980Ti. I'll have to turn down a setting or two.

Just noticed it's available to pre-load. Only 19.9GB download. I expected it to be double that size. Maybe there will be another half when the game unlocks?

FYI, the game benchmarks right now should probably be ignored altogether as they are not using final release code. Also, ultra quality uses 4x MSAA by default, so that has a lot to do with why there is such a large performance difference between ultra and high. And from what I've been reading, global illumination is the other massive performance drain..

Game already performs well, can't wait for the official DX12 version to play! Should give a good enough boost to my 280x's so I don't have to take a couple other mining cards offline to play.

DX12 wrecks performance at this point. Game seems super heavy. Dual Titans for 1440p are necessary at this point. OR play on high without any issues.

it looks like you need a 970 to play at 30FPS 1080P like a PS4... lol

hopefully this is just very inefficient settings being used by gamegpu as usual, and "high" will still look almost as good and run way faster

Where was that guy with a 770 @ Ultra? HA! And take a look at the CPU scaling, hexa core scaling step up. And the 1070 as a "1440p" card!

Anyone got the key for preload from cdkeys?
