iOS 6.1 through I believe 6.1.2 had an exchange calendar sync issue where it would continually sync with the server in the background and cause battery drain. You never know because everything is appearing normal in your calendar. Supposedly fixed in 6.1.3 and 6.1.4.

I'll see if I can dig up some info on it and people's fixes. There are ways to get it to stop but the easiest is to clean wipe to 6.1.4 then restore your settings from a backup. And you want to do the install from your computer. OTA still has issues.

TBH it wasn't a guaranteed 100% fail rate if you were on 6.1 - 6.1.2. I never saw it on my iPhone 5, but my buddy saw it on his 4S. And even then it only happened once for him.

With that said, yeah I wouldn't want to stay on those buggy releases if I can help it.

They got it from Samsung.

Maybe. They didn't make them notification toggles like Samsung and other ROM makers. Google made it a separate screen, which I guess is a bit different. However, they weren't toggles like I said, they were shortcuts. CM immediately realized this flaw and made them toggles AND shortcuts depending on how you interact (tap vs hold). Google either woke up or completed its half-done implementation and added that in 4.2.2. So it's like either they copied, or they half-ass implemented something long sought for in 4.2 and then had to finish their work in 4.2.2.

It's not that they ripped off ideas (which they did), it's also that they shamelessly completely ripped off the design. Are you going to claim, for example, that their new implementation of tabbed browsing isn't a complete ripoff of how android does it?

I'm not saying they didn't steal ideas. Android and iOS borrow ideas from each other and from other OSes as well. It's nothing new. It's just that you sound so angry in every post that you have some sort of vendetta with Apple. If you're so against shamelessly ripping off, where's the outrage with Touchwiz copying iOS in the first place? There's so much copying going on, so why don't you focus on Android for example? Like when Andy Rubin said multitouch is not important. Wait let's remove all multitouch from Android and see how that would work :)

Thx. I'm on 6.1.4 clean from the factory and the battery still sucks.

Which is how the touchwiz toggles work.

Thing is it doesn't really matter what random folks on forums think, we aren't responsible for how corporation's act.
Whats annoying is that Apple get furious if they perceive anyone copying them (thermonuclear war anyone?) but seem not to batt an eye about copying what they want.

It just seems the height of hypocrisy to try and kill off an OS because you think they copied bits of yours to then go on and do the same thing.

Yeah, it kind of looks like someone took a rainbow sherbet crap on the screen and then ate a bunch of mushrooms to make all the colors run together.
Actually, I thought it looked oddly familiar, and then got it: just as Microsoft has ditched Aero (ugh, terrible choice for a desktop OS), Apple picked it up.

Because Apple wants it both ways: They want to cry 'victim' every chance they get/sue the pants off 'ripoff artists' and then also pretend that they're some sort of 'innovator' that comes up with original ideas on their own. OTOH, they go ahead and do the same things they cry about others of doing. They have a laughable sense of moral superiority.

And don't get me started on their fans that pretend Apple is some sort of original design geniuses.

So just stepping back from the upgrade game for a minute - does a company need to keep up with GUI trends?

I've been extremely happy with how the GUI is now. There are some tweaks I would like (like quick access to stuff like Bluetooth on/off, like iOS7 has), but overall - I slide to unlock it, I tap the button on the app I want, and I'm done. No fuss. I really like that.

I'd just like to get rid of all of the skeumorphic crap, beyond that I'm not a power user and have no idea what to do without it being big dumb icons for me. *shrug*

I don't know what we would do without you. Apps don't work the day after a beta OS is released? Color me SHOCKED. SHOCKED I TELL YOU.

Must you constantly be an Profanity deleted? We know its your MO, but sometimes you just need to shut profanity deleted. You're like a little bitchy cousin that always gets smacked in the head by the other cousins.
I'm just providing info. Not bitching about who vs what like you.

I'd really love to hear about someone's experience with iOS7 on a 4S. I'd do it myself but my phone was issued by my employer and I can't screw with it too much.

I hear ya. All my users want 7 but they all have 4Ss and I have a 4 (which is now useless) and a 5 which is working fine save for a few apps. I am asking all my users for a guinea volunteer to up their 4S for testing. Fortunately I am the only one with a DEV account.

Self-awareness. You lack it. Do you really think people go into this thread to see what apps do and do not work on a day old BETA OS that the majority wont even use for another 3 months? Are you serious?

Infraction for personal attack
As Oyeve said, his comments about apps that don't work on a beta are totally on-topic - for example, if I wanted to convert my phone but discovered that something that I need/want won't work. He's posting about what does and doesn't work in the beta, and you are posting about how much of a jerk you think he is. I posted a warning above about this, Cheezy321.

A very annoyed,

Given that the touchscreen mobile space is still relatively young, I'd say "absolutely".

Focusing purely on aesthetics, we once thought Windows 3.1 and MacOS 8 were state of the art too but by today's standards, they look and feel awful and dated.

iOS and Android work well enough but that doesn't mean there's no room for improvements (I'm not including WP8 and BB only because I don't have enough experience with those, but I assume they fall into the same boat). Functionality like swipe/gesture motions and chat heads comes along that can change the way we think about how we interface with our phones and tablets. Suddenly the "old" way of interacting with our devices can seem clunky and not-so-intuitive.

I think people go into this thread to hear about "Details on ios7" as it is the title. I put some details. Some apps that have issues is a detail. You, on the otherhand, are just being a jerk as usual. You are the only idiot bitching about my posts, non which have been negative (unlike most of yours). If you have a problem with me or my posts, PM me, or better yet, meet me in NYC. until then, please STFU and stay on topic..

Back to topic. I am digging the lock and home screen wallpaper treatment. I am using a fairly hi-res panoramic aerial shot of Manhattan and the scrolling on lock screen of the whole pic is really nice and smooth. Camera apps works nice as well.

The lockscreen wallpaper scrolls? Automatically or when you swipe?

When you move the phone. Automagically. Pretty freaking sweet. Does it as a wallpaper too. not when swiping, when moving the actual phone.

I've got it on my work issued 4S (perk of being in IT I get certain liberties). I don't use the phone for much more than calls, emails and occasional texts. I use the calendar and reminders apps as well. Occasionally I'll load on some music and games and use the phone to play games when I'm traveling. For all of those things I am extremely pleased with the interaction.

I do notice some smoothness and choppiness issues jumping from screen to screen and app to app. Launching things takes a fraction longer to open than they do on my 5. I wouldn't notice it if I didn't have a 5, but since I use it everyday I can tell there are some slight slowdowns. It reminds me somewhat of using my Gnex when it initially came out (from a smoothness standpoint) and I am very satisfied with the performance considering the phone is nearing 2 years old. I also expect there to be a few more enhancements and modifications to the official release to help with the experience.

Are any of these users jailbroken? If they are not reliant on reverting to a jailbroken state they can always be downgraded back to iOS 6.1.3 for the 4S. I did this a couple times last night to verify.

Just my experience so far. I'll have more feedback after a day or so of use. Been mostly playing with my 5 and tweaking some of the settings to my liking.

Not to sound like an ass, but I do think some people would like to know what is working in beta. It may be the difference between them testing it out and not. For the majority, you are right. They won't care until it's officially released. At which point devs should have a working version of their apps. Some people like to use and try the latest and greatest. Myself included.

So far my biggest complaint would be the folders and the way they operate. I really liked the iOS 6 implementation where they opened directly above or below the created folder. This allowed my docked apps to still be near the bottom of the phone when attempting to launch. I'm having to re-train my brain to reach for the middle of the phone to launch apps.
I do see some usefulness and like the ability to have pages in the folders.

I'm also adjusting to the keyboard. I think the interface is nice and it works well with the redesigned apps. Something just feels different about it's interaction and typing on it. Could just be the coloring and how it looks more flat and feels more like I'm typing on a flat surface than before.
