Kdog..all i can say is u r f**ed...but those are the following thing u can do:
Before you even get to court, call the stae Department of Transportation to find out if there was a properly certified speed-limt sign near the scene of fied speed-limit sign near the scenece of your (alleged) crime. It is a long shot, but if the sign is uncertified, cops can't enforce the speed limit, and you are off the hook. IF that doesn't work, call the prosecutor's office and request a police report and anything else relevant to the case. Also, call the precinct and ask if the cop who stopped you was properly certified on the radar gun. If he wasn't you may get off...:D
And if you are guility, get to the courthouse at least 30 min eaerly and ask the prosecutor handling your case to reduce the offense. Offer to pay the fine immediately in exchange for having no points taken off your license, and umm. best of luck for you :D

Like most of the other people here I would suggest that you get a lawyer. But IMO it doesn't lok like you'll get off since its your second time doing 105mph. Don't expect any sympathy from the judge.

I got pulled over once doing 95 in a 65 zone. The cop was nice (or it could have been that I was scared sh!tless:)) and he only gave me a ticket for 5 over.

IMO the "heartless" cop shouldn't care what your consequences were. You broke the law and that's all he should care about.

I don't know why most of you guys are flaming him. I'm sure if you got a ticket for speeding you would do anything to get out of it. That's all he wants, advice on how to get of the ticket, or at least reduce the penalties.

My last piece of advice. Was it state or local police? If it was a local cop, chances are they want your money and nothing else. My girlfriend was doing 155MPH in Georgia (forgot her license too). They arrested her and held her until she coughed up the cash. Could care less that she didn't have once scrap of ID proving ownership of the car. Goto court with a lawyer and go through the motions.

If it was a state trooper, then turtleman is on the right track.

Finally get a Valentine One and learn how to use it (arrow configuration for single/double traps, using radar clutter, threat priority, etc.) to your advantage. Learn how the arrows work and use a "rabbit" to spring the trap.

Personally, I'm flaming him b/c of the "heartless cop" comment (showing a lack of understanding that what he did was wrong) and an overall tone showing little remorse.

Yes, if I got into this situation I'd want to try and get the penalty reduced, but why should I recieve help if I dont seem to recognize the potential consequences of my actions?

To say the cop did not care about your situation is a load of ****. What he cares about is the guy who might be turning on to the road while you are doing 100+ and gets his car cut in half, anf killed the horibal offence of having the worst timing in the world. The only good part about that would be that you would be dead to and no,onger a threat to teh rest of us, I just ope you dont have kids so you can qualify for teh darwin awareds if that were to happen. Something to leave your family when you are dead.
the cop is out to keep morons like you off the road, i dont care who you are 85+ on a highway is not safe, there are to many varibals, animals can wander on to teh road, merging traffic, hills, and teh like all can be avioded at 65-70 but past that become expontanally harder to avoid. at 100mph you are covering 146 feet per second, or half a football field, even if something happens ahed of you, think of how long it will take to stop, a car does not stop on a dime, espically at those speeds.

Unless you know the traffic legal system well, get a LAWYER! It will cost you a lot of time and money but you will be able to keep your driver's license.

What lawyers usually do with speeding violations is drag out the case to where the prosecutor just gets tired of it and either reduces the charges or drop them altogether. The lawyer will bog the prosecutor down with tons of paper work and requests. Your share of the duty is to go to court each month for about half a year to a year before this is resolved (thats if the prosecutor doesn't lower the charges in the beginning).

For all of you people screaming about how bad speeding is, Speeding violations is a good source of income for the state (helps balances state budgets during the lean years). Accidents are not caused solely by speeding, the major factors are human error and carelessness.

If you got money you can get out of it, if not, hard lesson to learn. Slow down and enjoy the ride ;)

If you are attending a University, they should have programs/help where the University has a set of lawyers willing to help students a discounted rate. Check it out :)

Good Luck, slow down.

I replied this msg to a pm.. i forgot who though.

Again I wanted advice. Simply that nothing more nothing less.

nonetheless I know I am at fault. And whats been done is done.. there is no going back and changing that. I know this is going to be a hard one but say your mother, father, loved one, or just anyone you are aquainted with got a speeding ticket, ok? are you gonna give them a lecture and tell them that they should never drive again? I dont think so... you're gonna try to advise and tell them what they should do correct?

Zctrachen? Is that a real city? :)

Anyways, GL with your situation. If I ever got a fine as high as you suspect it might be, I'd have to take out a loan to pay it. :)

Is it safe to say that no matter what the outcome is you won't be driving that fast again? It's not really worth it, is it?

<< . Oh yeah....I have a totally clean driving record. The system can be beat....oh yeah, I've paid my share of huge fines too. So there >>

How can you have a toally clean driving record but still pay huge fines?

here's my advice: get smarter and grow the hell up.

adults are responsible for their own actions.
you wanted to go 101? you paid the price for doing it.
you wanted to be stupid enough to do it again and risk a bigger fine and license suspension? you pay the price again. plain and simple.

take it like a man and maybe LEARN something this time.

Ok...

Well, someone I know was caught at 110 in a 65 zone...the laywer got it down to 55 in a 45...

Soooo...a good lawyer definitely helps :D

But also: it is YOUR OWN STUPID FAULT that you were doing 101...i mean, do it once, get caugt, then SLOW THE HELL DOWN. Or at least research your traffic laws and figure out how far you can go before you're totally screwed over.

This is exactly the attitude that inspires all of the flaming posts in the first place! I know if you were MY client, I would tell you to keep your mouth firmly shut in court - you are your own worst enemy.

Your only hope of avoiding a license suspension and exorbitant insurance rates, when you get your license back, is to hire an attorney. I have no idea how a lawyer could help you but, I would at least call one up and see what they have to say. Other then that you are fucked.

No offense, but as I said before there is no way anyone here can have any substantive advice for you - even as a California-licensed attorney (which I am), I have little if any ability to help without working in the jurisdiction in question. I think, unfortunately, that all you will get here is lectures and some EXTREMELY vague advice.

Dude, I can understand where you are coming from. As the Bible says, let the person without a sin throw the first stone. But you should also understand where most of the people here are coming from, as well. A lot of people have lost a friend or a relative due to a reckless driver. And dispite what somebody else said, driving at 100+ miles is recless driving, especially since most cars aren't even rated to go faster than 85mph. I have to admit, I've hit 90mph in 65 mile an hour zone on several occassions. However, that isn't something I'm proud of, and as soon as I saw the speedometer, I lowered my speed immidiately. Wherein, from your post it almost sounds like you are proud of your accomplishment. My advice would be to do whatever it takes (lawer, etc...) to get your fine lowered, and drive carefully in the future.

My advice for now: Get a lawyer.

My advice for the future: Slow the hell down. I won't deny that I've driven WAY too fast at times (100+ in a 55, 90+ in a 45) I got one ticket (for 72 in a 55) & slowed the fvck down.

If you got one ticket at 100+, & weren't bright enough to slow down, then you don't belong on the road.

Proud of my accomplishment? so almost like bragging? that wasnt even on my list of intentions from this post.

DonVito that last reply was a bit more soothing than your previous posts. Dont understand why you couldnt have said that the first time around.

Sorry for misunderstanding you then. I guess the fact that you can't hear the other person, and can't pick up their tone fooled me on this one.

In New York your first offense assuming 65mph limit would have put 9 of 10 points on your license. You'd definitley be losing your license in New York this time around. (If it was 101 in a 55, you'd lose your license on the spot)
Get a lawyer, and get a good one. You may hate coughing up the money but you'll hate the bus even more. Odds are the lawyer will at worst get you a provisional drivers license (to work, and supermarket but that's it) if they offer them in California. At best the lawyer will manage to just barely allow you to keep your license. Not matter what your speeding days are over until those points come off. (18 months in New York for the points 3 years for the ticket). If you don't have a cruise control get one. Don't drive more than 4mph over the limit till those points come off either.
Also you will be looking forward to higher insurance rates. You may even end up in the risk pool.
Don't take stupid chances like pleading before the judge. Odds are he will make an example of you.
Once again don't fret about it, don't gripe about it. Get a good lawyer! This is going to mean the difference between walking and driving!
