You’d think, but invariably the result will be expanding/redefining communism to surely include Democrats, no matter the mental gymnastics required.

I don’t know what definition you guys are using for communism but if it’s not doing what’s best for the American people then it’s no wonder you get labeled as commies!

Florida diplomas aren't going to be worth the paper they're written on. Better get those applications for Liberty in early, because that's all you're getting in to.

DeeSantis claimed he's all about parental rights. A bunch of parents showed up to a school board meeting to voice their displeasure about changes to the black history curriculum and guess what? The Florida education commissioner cancelled at the last minute claiming a "scheduling conflict". Apparently, the only parents in Florida who are considered are the white parents.

A longtime Florida history teacher interviewed about teaching about Rosewood and having to teach about the violence by AAs.

“The new standard essentially says when you teach about Rosewood or Ocoee because they are here in Florida— and all U.S. history teachers will teach about those— that you teach them as quote an act where violence perpetrated against and by African Americans, meaning now you’re going to go out of your way to point out there were times African Americans also used violence,” Robinson said.

I'm suprised Colunbus didn't say "That's a spicy meataball." Not misspelled.

I guess during the 1921Tulsa Race massacre any black people fighting for their lives were committing violence against white people.

Who says systemic racism doesn't exist?

"Parents rights" just means "ban anything anyone has any problem with." Fucking horrible way to run a school system.

DeSantis worried not enough people supporting slavery so the cancelled AP Black History. Wonder how they handle the opposing views on the Holucost?
Florida officials were reportedly concerned that lessons on slavery in the new AP African American Studies course didn't offer any "opposing viewpoints" or "other perspectives"

Well, that seems readily fixed by adding a sentence that goes something like "A bunch of assholes thought that literally owning other human beings was compatible with the ideals of freedom our country was founded on, they got their asses kicked, but not well enough, so we're still dealing with the fallout of those assholes today: example, the governor of Florida, Rick DeSantis. Major asshole."
Boom, solved.

I think this actually highlights one of the issues we are facing which is this incessant need to provide an opposing viewpoint for the sake of being fair and balanced. It’s one thing to explain why slavery happened and who it benefited but it’s entirely something else to posit that slavery had benefits as if that was one of the factors for its support. We don’t teach science and how the earth is round only to offer up a counter argument of how it’s actually flat. Unless, that is, to use the flat earth argument to further explain how we know the earth is round.

This “fair and balanced” crap is very evident with news media as well and is partly how we got trump.
