Ron DeSantis has just banned the book The Color Purple from schools. A 1983 Pulitzer Prize Winner. Too many black people so I guess it had to be banned. Florida Republicans can get back to their threesomes.

I have no words to describe the sadness I feel watching these low educated snowflakes elect fascists because they are terrified they won’t become the future millionaires they are destined to be if the “others” get theirs. Amazing to watch the average Republican become Brownshirts even if implicitly by condoning this garbage.

Meatball's pitch to be President is that he's a bigger asshole that Trump, but people just aren't buying it. It is incumbent, then, that he seek out more and more ways to hold up to the public that's the case. I suspect he will soon be proclaiming that when he's President he will have all abnormal people removed from society. The problem I see is that Meatball is stupidly ambitious, that he's just playing a part for the conceit value of being President where as with Trump his psychopathy is deep rooted and real. It's not an act.

Oops, unintended consequences. DeSantis is a big Israel supporter. DeSantis denies banning books but he knows his laws have this type of impact on available books because the people in charge don't want to get arrested. I'll bet this gets fixed ASAP.

ARI SHAPIRO, HOST:

In Orange County, Fla. - that's Orlando and the surrounding area - nearly 700 books have been removed from classroom libraries. Technically, these books are on standby, waiting to be reviewed for inappropriate sexual content by a media specialist. But as NPR's Andrew Limbong reports, it could take years before these books find themselves back in a classroom, if they find themselves back.

ANDREW LIMBONG, BYLINE: It all started earlier this year with a small change in language in the Florida law books. To go back a bit, it's been the law since last year that all books in, quote, "media centers" in Florida schools have to be approved as age-appropriate by a media specialist. But earlier this summer, some new language went into effect specifying that media centers includes classroom libraries.
