Poll: Most Americans Feel Rhetoric, Tucson Shooting Unrelated

Overall, 57 percent of respondents said the harsh political tone had nothing to do with the shooting, compared to 32 percent who felt it did. Republicans were more likely to feel the two were unrelated - 69 percent said rhetoric was not to blame; 19 percent said it played a part. Democrats were more split on the issue - 49 percent saw no connection; 42 percent said there was.

Independents more closely reflected the overall breakdown - 56 percent said rhetoric had nothing to do with the attack; 33 percent felt it did.

See, to start, people will assume it is political, because it was a politician shot. Just like when a drug dealer is shot you suspect it was because of drugs.

The fact that there is so much language and things that can be pointed to as possible reasons for this, that so much of the language could, in theory, fit with exactly what happened. THAT is the issue. To this end, it doesn't matter what the reason for the shooting is.

As much as I don't care for Palin or Beck, the attempts to use these people's deaths at the hands of an obvious schizophrenic to smear them is nothing short of disgusting.

BTW, it appears my initial impression after seeing his videos and reading the accounts of his school were correct. Experts are now saying all signs point to an obvious case of schizophrenia.
