Let's get one thing straight: The Reps hand NO input on the current bills -- NONE -- so the Dems own it. It's theirs. ALL of it. The Dems will receive 100% of the blame OR 100% of the credit once the bill is passed and we see what kind of mess they've made.

Since we already know that the bill is one gigantic handout to the insurance and drug companies, who gets the blame for that? Oh yeah... only the Dems baby, only the Dems.

You cannot blame the Reps for ANY portion of the final bill.

The majority also has to take on the FULL responsibility of the results of what they chose to create.

Since they have cut out the opponents; then they can not blame the opponents for any failures that may happen.

Reid and Pelosi had stated that they were not going to worry about input from the minority. It was their way no matter what.

Well said. States were designed to have most of the power for a reason. Every state is different, and what works for one probably won't work in another. Hence, why states were supposed to have the majority of the power, with a federal government as kind of the glue to keep everything together. That is no longer the case, with the federal government snatching up power left and right. This is not how it was supposed to be. Our forefathers warned about one large, ominous, all-powerful government looming over us all.

I'm a provider in NY state. I spend hours a week so that your plan is "fantastic". I agree your plan is great. It's one of the biggest items in the budget. You get money dedicated to our kids education. If you have children you could have gotten money and cleared out the Walmarts and other stores with your bonus.

You don't even have to pay a copay. You can get your beer and smokes and say "I don't want to pay. You suck it up".

Their strategy is to try to kill the bill by forcing votes on issues that they know are divisive within the democratic party. They have openly admitted that this has been their strategy, that the amendments they have proposed were not intended to actually improve the bill, but rather to split certain dems off from it and kill the bill.

It's fine for repubs to want to kill the bill, either because of opinion polls are for any other reason. But you have just made my point by acknowledging that this is eactly what they want to do: there is no reason to include them in a compromize process when all they want to do is kill the bill. Compromize sessions are for those who want to compromize. Nothing constructive could ever come of their participation.

I find it rather ironic that this bill is so bad that the Dems are already trying to blame the Reps for it.... before the Dems have actually passed the bill (meaning they have the ability to unfuck it before passing it)... while continuing to completely shut out the Reps from any input on the bill...

Instead, the Dems are perfectly happy to pass a bad bill for purely partisan reasons and to give Obama something to tout at the State of the Union. Granted, the Reps would be perfectly happy to kill the bill for the same partisan reasons but at this point I would rather no bill than the clusterfuck of a bill we are gonna get.

What the Republicans did to the social structure of this country on their own without Democratic assistance is nothing to what this is going to do IF it fails.

Additional costs to the people/businesses; increased government bureaucracy, reduced competition for health care insurance, increased/forced income transfer.

Where is a single dollar of reduced health care reform? It is all about cost shifting from the haves (middle class) to the have nots
