Let's get one thing straight: The Reps hand NO input on the current bills -- NONE -- so the Dems own it. It's theirs. ALL of it. The Dems will receive 100% of the blame OR 100% of the credit once the bill is passed and we see what kind of mess they've made.

Since we already know that the bill is one gigantic handout to the insurance and drug companies, who gets the blame for that? Oh yeah... only the Dems baby, only the Dems.

You cannot blame the Reps for ANY portion of the final bill.

"Lies, damned lies, and statistics" sums up this post nicely.

I'm waiting for the fake insurance companies to appear. The ones that will appear like a real insurance company but only charge people $10 a month so they can claim they have insurance without actually needing to buy it. Do you have health insurance ? Yes it is with ACME consolidated refurbished division D of greater western CA.

Cry me a river! The poor repulicans may be denied the ability to say NO one last time.
They made it more than clear months ago that any bipartisan comprimise was impossible, so they get what they get. This continous whinning that they have been left out of the process was comical for a while now it's just irritating.

And you guys can shout we're the majority, the majority is against this until you turn blue and pass out but your not convincing anyone. Your precious majority voted your ass out of the whitehouse after voting your ass out of the house and senate, so get over it already and take your medicine like good little boys

Psst, I'm not a Republican and your party sucks. Not that theirs doesn't, but I thought you'd like a non-partisan opinion.

Polls seem to suggest a majority of the public IS convinced. But, Democrats know better than people whats good for them. Ram it down their throat.

The Progressives have killed my state all on their own, no help needed. Their object is power for the Greater Good, which they define all on their own. Any who see it otherwise are lesser beings which have to be guided by the Great and All Powerful OZ.

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

Yes, politicians get bought and that's a huge problem. The remainder who aren't suffer from the infallibility of their egos, and when their grand plans collapse under their own sheer weight, then it's the fault of the Republicans.

There is a balance to almost everything, and I'm sorry but every day it seems clearer that the Progressives have become the Neocons.

Both are right, all must obey for the "good" of their correct agendas. Heaven help you if you get in their way. All Popes, and all infallible.

I guess you use the term progressive differently than I do. My way of using it means that nothing can change until the Consciousness of the American People changes. First off people only value what they invest in and secondly, you can't put an old head on young shoulders. You can guide and you can admonish, but you can't force folk to do what is in their best interest, eh? Of course, in real life I will where I can. For example, I will rescue folk from a fire if I can regardless if they wish to burn to death. With flames all around I just don't feel like bothering to ask.

So many here are saying things like this...

"Republicans decided months ago that they didn't want to help, so they have been left out of the entire process with good reason."

but then they say this as well...

"Everything bad in the bill is the Reps' fault."

I don't get it... does not compute.

By the way, I'm with Hayabusa on this one: both parties f'n suck.

Hay suggested some of us know betters go to China, but let's look at the issue for a sec.

Here we are going nowhere but down according to our Republican friends whereas China is eating our lunch.

So we have the freedom here to be governed by ignorant fools who are allowed to vote, whereas in China only a small body of the most elite of elites gets to determine policy and we are in an economic slump and they are going gangbusters. And they are also on the left. Seems like we should get a small number of geniuses from the left in this country to tell us what to do, no?

The proof is in the pudding, no?

Why shouldn't the left ram the things down your throat. Bush destroyed our nation, him and the party of death. Please hurry up and die, eh? Get the fuck out of the way.

Exactly. I've heard the "The bill was watered down because of the Republicans!" nonsense on here for months, which is funny considering no Republican is going to vote for the bill. Who was it watered down for again?

Another favorite is the "Republicans are in the pockets of big insurance!" Who is forcing people to buy insurance from the big insurance companies again? No Republican is going to vote for this gift to the insurance companies.

You need to be able to calculate if you want to compute. Your problem was easy for me. That blindfold you got on there, could be the issue.

LOL - Those hick republicans are trying to stop the government from sending you to jail if you choose to not buy a product from a private company.
Buy insurance or go to jail.
Sounds like a great solution to me....

So you just dodged your lies.

Liar shill.

Are you really that stupid? See if you can come up with some reasons why the Democratic bill is so bad that relate to what Republicans have done? Try real hard, hehe. Jesus Christ, blessed are the brain dead.

Get your head out of your ass. YOU are not THE PEOPLE chump.

We're certainly not YOUR people. There's a civil divide and forcing a one nation solution at this point only adds fuel to the fire. This is why the people are angry. You don't want to go down this road, even if you're clueless as to where it leads.

Think 1861.

Which blindfold is that? The one that prevents me from finding a single honest politician from any political party? Or is it the set that prevents me from finding a single politician who properly represents me?

In this case, the Dems are the party who own everything in the healthcare bill, including all of the parts that truly suck. They get 100% of the blame or the credit, wherever the chips may fall. To deny that is an indication of true blindness...

The majority also has to take on the FULL responsibility of the results of what they chose to create.

Since they have cut out the opponents; then they can not blame the opponents for any failures that may happen.

Reid and Pelosi had stated that they were not going to worry about input from the minority. It was their way no matter what.

Now the Dems will have to explain and be held accountable for what boondoogle that they may have crafted

Well said. States were designed to have most of the power for a reason. Every state is different, and what works for one probably won't work in another. Hence, why states were supposed to have the majority of the power, with a federal government as kind of the glue to keep everything together. That is no longer the case, with the federal government snatching up power left and right. This is not how it was supposed to be. Our forefathers warned about one large, ominous, all-powerful government looming over us all.

I think we've seen plenty in the last decade that the Republicans were too busy crafting their own boondoogles to shed any light on what the Dems did.

So in other words, you have nothing. Got it. The naivete and outright dishonesty of some on the left is remarkable.

"But...but....Republican FUD!" Whatever.

I'm on Medicaid in NYS and my health care has been fantastic. You obviously have no idea what I was talking about, so why don't you come off the conservative hate wagon for 3 minutes and look into it?

NYS is teetering on financial disaster because our state elected officials are fucking idiots. And yet your position is to give state government more power...

I'm a provider in NY state. I spend hours a week so that your plan is "fantastic". I agree your plan is great. It's one of the biggest items in the budget. You get money dedicated to our kids education. If you have children you could have gotten money and cleared out the Walmarts and other stores with your bonus.

You don't even have to pay a copay. You can get your beer and smokes and say "I don't want to pay. You suck it up".

Yeah, it's a wonderful life. Unfortunately there's no more money.

Look into it? I have to swim in it.

Their strategy is to try to kill the bill by forcing votes on issues that they know are divisive within the democratic party. They have openly admitted that this has been their strategy, that the amendments they have proposed were not intended to actually improve the bill, but rather to split certain dems off from it and kill the bill.

It's fine for repubs to want to kill the bill, either because of opinion polls are for any other reason. But you have just made my point by acknowledging that this is eactly what they want to do: there is no reason to include them in a compromize process when all they want to do is kill the bill. Compromize sessions are for those who want to compromize. Nothing constructive could ever come of their participation.

- wolf

How about their constituents being represented on an issue that will directly affect them and their families in a huge way?

Of course Obama's State of the Union speech is much more important than little things like that.

"Lies, damned lies, and statistics" sums up this post nicely.

I find it rather ironic that this bill is so bad that the Dems are already trying to blame the Reps for it.... before the Dems have actually passed the bill (meaning they have the ability to unfuck it before passing it)... while continuing to completely shut out the Reps from any input on the bill...

Instead, the Dems are perfectly happy to pass a bad bill for purely partisan reasons and to give Obama something to tout at the State of the Union. Granted, the Reps would be perfectly happy to kill the bill for the same partisan reasons but at this point I would rather no bill than the clusterfuck of a bill we are gonna get.

Once again you bastards in both parties are fucking over the American people for the sole reason of saying your side "won" regardless of how bad Americans lose. Good job, we appreciate it.

What the Republicans did to the social structure of this country on their own without Democratic assistance is nothing to what this is going to do IF it fails.

Additional costs to the people/businesses; increased government bureaucracy, reduced competition for health care insurance, increased/forced income transfer.

Where is a single dollar of reduced health care reform? It is all about cost shifting from the haves (middle class) to the have nots
