That's what conservatives have been saying for the past 8 years, now it's our turn. Love it or leave it.

First, not all conservatives have been saying that. Unfortunately, some very loud idiots have been, but it's certainly not "all".

Second, it is very interesting to me how the people who are now saying "it's our turn" to say it are the very same people who called conservatives who said it "childish". Way to take the high road guys. You stay classy like that.

You should see if your local community college has classes in sarcasm.

And you should remember that sarcasm depends on tone of voice and facial expression, neither of which is conveyed in plain text.

Obama doesn't "owe" the Republican Party a god damn thing. He serves this NATION first and foremost, not the Republican party. He will do what he sees fit to advance this country forward, and it just so happens the Republicans have an absolutely toxic agenda so it should come as no surprise that there are few ideas and people he wants from their side on his team.

AND, as stated elsewhere Bush heavily filled his administration with personal and party loyalists more so than competent qualified individuals, which gives Obama so much less to choose from in that regard.

There aren't too many Theocracies
the Right can run to.

Well, Christian ones, at least.

I guess you could go to Afhanistan or Iran, and try to convert them

They already have the laws you want, just the wrong God.

It should be obvious we're making fun of conservatives when we say "love it or leave it"

Given the number of times I have heard people say it in earnest during the last few days, it's hardly "obvious" that you were joking.

This would seem to apply here.

What would happen if they did just all go away? If many of us just moved to another country?

Who would pay for all the social programs? ;)

Ever read Atlas Shrugged?

I googled "leave if you don't like it" ....

and got nuthin'

That would lead me to believe this is mindless propaganda from a bitter shrill troll.

Not really. Atlas Shrugged is a horrible book. Like... really embarrassingly bad. It's not just Ayn Rand's ridiculous anarcho-capitalism, but the book is written like a 3rd grader did it.

whoa, whoa, whoa, At least keep a few of the Great Lake states, especially President elect Obama's state of Illinois (and my home state :D) and the home to Northwestern University, University of Chicago, Art Institute, Field Museum, Museum of Science and Industry, and the home to that multimillion dollar overhead projector, the Adler Planetarium.

A plan is already in the works for rich Republicans to buy a big chunk of Mexico. They will create a thriving commercial society that rivals the USA. It will be called the New Rebublic of America aka NRA. Neocons, fundies, rednecks, Rush, Hannity, maybe O'Reilly, etc. will stay in the USA to fight liberalism. Don't tell anyone I told you about this. ;)

Turn around Sucks. Which is why when setting a precedent one must first consider the possible reprocussions. "Conservatives" actually thought that they killed Liberalism in 2000 and could say/do anything. So they did. Now they're being inundated with their own words and it sucks!!

Whine away, but don't expect much sympathy.

you have to look at the voting blocks within the states, though.

the richest counties in NJ are republican, they're just out-numbered by the huddled masses in Jersey City/Newark.

Or as we here in the Great State of Pennsylvania know them, "The Grasping, Nouveau Riche, Big Hair and Bad Make-Up, Complete Lack of Taste and Breeding, McMansion Erecting, My Precious Children Can Do No Wrong, Just Bought a Canyonero For My Trophy Wife, DumbAssistan."

The economy of Texas has one of the largest growing economies in the nation. In 2006 Texas was home to six of the top 50 companies on the Fortune 500 list and 56 overall, more than any other state. [1] Texas has an economy that was the second largest in the nation and the 15th largest in the world based on GDP (PPP) figures. As the largest exporter of goods in the United States, Texas currently grosses more than $100 billion a year in trade with other nations.

wiki.

we are red, sadly. but pretty damn healthy here.

I'd think we'd be more likely to see parallels in the next eight. "We are our brothers keepers" and such..

Why is it that people here assume *everyone* in a blue state is a Democrat, and *everyone* in a red state is a Republican?

Jealousy does tend breed all sorts of labels.

I don't recall a single high ranking republican ever telling a lefist to leave if they don't like it. I do recall a lot of mocking of those liberals who claimed they were going to move to France after Bush won re-election.

Because people who tend to talk about "red states" and "blue states" don't usually have the kind of brains that can handle any ideas more complex than that.

All you said was "not really", which made it seem you were actually going to present a counter-argument, but then you went right into bashing the book via issuence of your own opinion. Have you read the book? Be honest now... if there are no parallel's as you claim, then what is your real argument to the contrary?

The blue states tend to be smaller, have larger populations and have higher incomes than the red states.

Perfect example:
Massachusetts v. Mississippi
Mass is one fifth the size of Miss
Mass has twice as many people.
Mass's median income is $56k to Miss's $34k
Mass's GSP is $338 billion.
Miss's GSP is $84 billion.

Based on that the state of Mass is going to provide a LOT more taxes to the Federal government and going to require a lot less in returned dollars. Especially since so much of our Federal tax dollars go help poor people.

BTW comparing dollars out to dollars in is not very useful since some areas of the country have MUCH higher income levels than others. A better measure would be Federal dollars spent per person since that would show which states suck up the most money per person.
