Its been fun following the election in here, and post-election turmoil. But I keep coming across a common statement from the far leaning left - if the Republicans don't like it, then go away.

What would happen if they did just all go away? If many of us just moved to another country?

Who would pay for all the social programs? ;)

Don't democratic states like NY give more in federal taxes than receive back. If that's the case, then wouldn't it be more like cutting the slack? ;)

Yup, the red states are the social programs.

But the reason you hear that all the time is because it's what the right says all the time when people point out how stupid they are.

That's what conservatives have been saying for the past 8 years, now it's our turn. Love it or leave it.

I think the thing with blue states paying more in taxes than they get back in a misnomer.

The blue states tend to be smaller, have larger populations and have higher incomes than the red states.

Perfect example:
Massachusetts v. Mississippi
Mass is one fifth the size of Miss
Mass has twice as many people.
Mass's median income is $56k to Miss's $34k
Mass's GSP is $338 billion.
Miss's GSP is $84 billion.

Based on that the state of Mass is going to provide a LOT more taxes to the Federal government and going to require a lot less in returned dollars. Especially since so much of our Federal tax dollars go help poor people.

BTW comparing dollars out to dollars in is not very useful since some areas of the country have MUCH higher income levels than others. A better measure would be Federal dollars spent per person since that would show which states suck up the most money per person.

It's time to divide the county into three seperate ones. The East Coast, the West Coast, and the rest.

It's not called "social programs", it's called a proud country called America.

Not Red, Not Blue, Not Liberal, not Conservative.

Us real Americans will not only do well without you selfish labeling anti-Americans but will flourish working together towards common goals.

So please pack you bags as quickly as possible and leave.

Thank you

Lets be honest here. If the red states all left America, they would be hurting... badly. The blue states provide the majority of the tax revenue, and they are the centers of wealth for our nation.

I think the main reason people are saying that is a bit of revenge for all the years of "America: love it or leave it" that they got from the Republicans. Not the most mature thing in the world, no. Lets not lose sight of the fact of which states really pay the bills in our country though.

Gee, I wonder how Obama and his supporters ever got the reputation as being elitist?

Exactly. Mass has far better jobs than Miss. because Miss is a low service state. Basically Miss is the McDonalds workers while Mass are the tech workers. Which is a function of Mass'es policies. Which is why the rest of the country should be following the blue Democratic donor states policies instead of the reds Republican policies.

What is your point? Red states take more money from the government, and they are the ones who despise the federal government for no logical reason.

You over simplify things there Techs.

Miss is poor and has been poor for over a hundred years.

This might have to do with the fact that nearly 40% of the state is black and up until recently the blacks were kept uneducated and poor by the Whites who ran the state. (Whites who happened to have been Democrats)

Well you know that when they say "well just leave then", it is because they have no argument, and you have them in a corner. Consider it a sign of e-victory!

We don't despise the Federal government.

If anything you see more hatred of our government from the left than the right.

The right just wants to see less government and less taxes.

Repubs own the country as much as dems, so they've every right to complain and not simply "leave".

The US would be like Western Europe, which is fine. The Coasts and the upper midwest would be fine if not better off without the South.

The difference is Dems believe in the Constitution, human rights and science.

In other words we belive in America.

Anti-Americans have no right to complain and must leave.

Naw, the red states will make up the difference by jacking up your energy prices in addition to keeping all taxes/royalties currently generated from it. Or simply turn off the "spigot" if the wanted to hurt the blue states - be an awfully cold winter. If you use the Bush "red states" you can throw in a large portion of your food. On the other hand, the blue states would economically cripple the red.

My point is, all this blue state vs red state crap is nonsense. If by some magic the country where to split both sides would be royally screwed.

Figures are from 2005, but here is a list of spending and taxes per capita.

http://www.nemw.org/fundsrank.htm

As I said the states who get the most money back compared to what they paid are also the states that have the lowest per capita tax burden.

Bullshit.

You increased the Government bigger than anytime in history.

The problem was you did it without raising taxes on those that can afford to make the government bigger resulting in this massive mess of destroying the country.

You haven't learned and still pushing for the same America destroying crap.

Why do you stay here?
