I do love Obama and have been a huge fan for years since he arrived on the political scene in 2008. And I do think he is a very decent and good man who wants better for all of us.
However, in the last four years, as I have discovered how utterly weak, pathetic, cowardly, corrupt, and enabling the Dem party establishment has been, it hurts me to say that Obama's language is symbolic of the entire party's problem with language use.
He has a great physical presence and oratory style which does make him sound a lot more powerful than total muppets like Schumer or Jeffries, and that carries him a long way. But read these words from the Obama's statement. They go out of their way not to use shorter, simple, and straighter language to call a murder a murder, and they constantly weave in appeasing language, and stupid language.
The worst offender is 'video evidence that appears to contradict them' - wtf! 'Appears' - holy shit that should make your blood boil.
Bro, I oughta lightly bitch slap you Barack for putting that out there. It's not like this is the first time this administration has blatantly lied about major and fundamental things so you need to be gentle with them -- this is after 8 years of evil that is only getting worse! And there are various other offenders - asking this administration to do things to 'reconsider their approach' and 'work constructively' with Walz, etc... Bro, this approach is the whole fucking point. Come on man - straight talk, don't be so scared. We need big leadership voices at this time to focus on and draw energy and hope from.
I'm pretty sad that Obama has not been able to evolve. In the years 2008-2016 is a big stretch of when the GOP became the GQP and was ready for a guy like Trump. Obama completely misread the moment, did not treat the GQP differently, all about bipartisanship, all about playing by the polite rules while the Republicans were shitting on them. As our leader he needed to prepare the establishment for what the enemy party had become. But he failed at that.
I so wish he could step up but even now he can't. This is a thumbnail but there is a large version there to read. I still love the guy, but realize this massive failing of his - though I still love the guy,.
I watch the Bourdain/Obama episode of Parts Unknown in Vietnam every year to remind me of what it could be like to have a decent good person in charge.
