Always remember that if you want to be elected you must never show any signs you as see people are sick.

Hello, is this thing working?

Trump had 3 elections, won 2. Eating the dogs and the cats. Not sending their best, etc.
Ring any bells?

Because unless someone had a lobotomy, you already know that disparaging America, the American people, and immigrants as a mass sickness was a very successful shtick.
Give them something to hate and they adore you. Perhaps you meant in self reflection. But of course. A mirror is not what a campaign is, or should ever be. I agree.
But it is just, your words scratched an itch and I had to bite. Apologies.

Trump is the personification of grotesque in body, mind, and spirit. His words are a sickness unto the masses. And it sells, bigly.

I edited my post as there was a grammatical mistake. But I see the source of your confusion. I was referring to identifying the real sickness that must never be mentioned, not the sickness that sick people want to be sure everyone else suffers from even worse.

Yes because elections are state level. Defunding DHS and Ice via a partial government shutdown would keep them from interfering with the election.

That said the Dems will likely fold like a cheap suit.

Our only hope is the rest of the world tells the US to fuck off and implode our economy. The only way the basket full of deplorables and Trumps billionaire benefactors will jump ship is if the US economy starts to collapse.
This is why the whole 'Trump will cancel elections' thing makes no sense - how would he even accomplish that considering each state runs its own?

Trump will almost certainly try to subvert or rig the elections but he's not going to cancel them.

Agreed. He will have a disinformation campaign, he will have gerrymandering, he will have voter suppression and intimidation from ICE agents, in high democrat areas, plus outright corruption of results where possible.

And if after all that he still doesn't get the results he wants, he will claim ANTIFA terrorist changed the results so he won't recognize them...

I'm very skeptical midterms have any real chance of changing things.

Trump has no role in recognizing the elections so what he thinks about them doesn't matter. It's also not a thing where Johnson could refuse to seat Democratic House members as Johnson won't be speaker then and would have no power. It could be theoretically possible for Republicans to refuse to seat Democratic Senators but I tend to doubt it will happen.

The reason the midterms might not change anything is Trump will likely use that as a reason to ignore Congress entirely (as opposed to like 90% as he's doing now). That will probably accelerate whatever conflict we're moving towards but I agree Democratic control of Congress is unlikely to change policy.

This also does assume there is not a Senate control flip which is not outside the realm of possibility at this point.

I think the idea would be that since the Senate has continuity, unlike the House, the VP could choose not to seat some or all of the new Senators. With the House that's not really possible as the speaker's chair is empty at the start of each session - not aware of any mechanism for the outgoing party to fuck with things in that regard.

The real question is if Grassley would refuse as President pro tempore. I'm highly skeptical he would.

I think the problem here, like we have been seeing all along, is that people assume past checks and balances will keep working.

The USA's checks and balance depend significantly on good faith actors in the system.

Good faith actors are being purged.

I don't think that's the problem at all, I actually think it is all kind of irrelevant as the only situation where Trump canceling elections matters is one where the outcome of those elections matter.

If the president is canceling them or Republicans somehow conspire to not seat the winners then what we have is a civil war and frankly it's best to have that out in the open anyway.

As usual, the regular peanut gallery of establishment Democratic politicians can't say things straight up. Can't call it murder, still say that the integrity of ice and DHS is still at stake. What the fuck is still at stake you fucking asshole? The absolutely last thing still at stake is their fucking credibility. How do you even give them and each of credibility at this point. That's disgusting. These people are just the epitome of pathetic and feckless.

If democrats won't step up, someone else will do

I do love Obama and have been a huge fan for years since he arrived on the political scene in 2008. And I do think he is a very decent and good man who wants better for all of us.

However, in the last four years, as I have discovered how utterly weak, pathetic, cowardly, corrupt, and enabling the Dem party establishment has been, it hurts me to say that Obama's language is symbolic of the entire party's problem with language use.

He has a great physical presence and oratory style which does make him sound a lot more powerful than total muppets like Schumer or Jeffries, and that carries him a long way. But read these words from the Obama's statement. They go out of their way not to use shorter, simple, and straighter language to call a murder a murder, and they constantly weave in appeasing language, and stupid language.

The worst offender is 'video evidence that appears to contradict them' - wtf! 'Appears' - holy shit that should make your blood boil.

Bro, I oughta lightly bitch slap you Barack for putting that out there. It's not like this is the first time this administration has blatantly lied about major and fundamental things so you need to be gentle with them -- this is after 8 years of evil that is only getting worse! And there are various other offenders - asking this administration to do things to 'reconsider their approach' and 'work constructively' with Walz, etc... Bro, this approach is the whole fucking point. Come on man - straight talk, don't be so scared. We need big leadership voices at this time to focus on and draw energy and hope from.

I'm pretty sad that Obama has not been able to evolve. In the years 2008-2016 is a big stretch of when the GOP became the GQP and was ready for a guy like Trump. Obama completely misread the moment, did not treat the GQP differently, all about bipartisanship, all about playing by the polite rules while the Republicans were shitting on them. As our leader he needed to prepare the establishment for what the enemy party had become. But he failed at that.

I so wish he could step up but even now he can't. This is a thumbnail but there is a large version there to read. I still love the guy, but realize this massive failing of his - though I still love the guy,.

I watch the Bourdain/Obama episode of Parts Unknown in Vietnam every year to remind me of what it could be like to have a decent good person in charge.

Video: Chuck Schumer literally running away from reporters because he doesn't want to answer about abolishing ice. This fucking piece of shit and corrupt party leader, this is when you speak up not run like a little cowardly rat.

Fuck the Democratic establishment all to hell they fucking suck and contributed to us arriving at this hellish timeline. Chucky Schumer is a fucking Zionist and the corrupt Democratic establishment and donors will support him no matter how feckless and an empty is as long as he helps Israel commit atrocities.

I can’t stand Schumer but Dems always lose the propaganda war. If they promote “ defund ICE” soon as an undocumented commits a serious crime there goes the midterms. Did you see how we lost the Laken Riley battle?

Don’t say it just do it. I’m ok with “changing everything from the ground up” or “ripping it up by the root” or “firing all supervisors”. List every bad thing they do and call for ending it

Call for the ending of executing citizens in the middle of the streets so untrained ICE agents a can get a hard on.

You forget the role Vice President Mike Pence, and Congress, played on Jan 6th, 2021.
Trump wanted the VP killed because the VP did not change the election results.
I can promise you, should the opportunity arise, JD Vance WILL change the election results.

In my opinion, and not discounting the obvious fact that Trump is profoundly mentally ill, the reaction to his illnesses by people on the left in general, and in particular among those where it slide into catastrophizing hysteria, is the result of the confluence of two factors, the first of which the presence of forgotten or repressed traumatic experiences, and secondly by overly imaginatively thinking triggered by events that threaten to bring those memories up into conscious awareness and the terror that causes.

A cat, for example never goes around brooding that it might attacked by a dog. It’s piece of mind is never disturbed by imaginative thinking. The sight smell sound of a real dog in its proximity is another matter. A cat’s reaction will be both instinctual and conditional. A cat might sleep with the family dog. It might run in terror of a vacuum cleaner. Humans are perfectly capable of tormenting themselves mentally.

So humans have a fear response that triggers fight or flight and imagination stimulated by experiences from the past, and when those past experiences are triggered the result is fear beyond the reach or amelioration by common sense.

This is the origin of projection, to fear out there what is actually within. A beaten dod will run at the sight of a stick because it knows what a beating is having been beaten before.

So the more repressed traumatic experience lies hidden from conscious awareness and thus sensible rational risk assessment the greater the tendency to fear the future will repeat the past.

This becomes the basis of attitude. Once the attitude the future is the past the more fucked we are to live in fear and gloom.

But none of it is real. Everyone’s past is a pure accident and totally subjective.

The world is created by attitude and changes only as we change our attitude. There is nothing to do, nowhere to go, nothing to fix, out there. A nightmare will end when we wake up.

The 23rd Psalm offers insight into this.

These locals have more spine than anyone in DC.
A real fire in their belly. The kind we want every Democrat to have.

Philly DA vows to prosecute "wannabe Nazi" ICE agents

"If we have to hunt you down, the way they hunted down Nazis for decades, we will find your identities. We will find you. We will achieve justice."

I saw some interview with him by some CNN clown, she said "did you really call them Nazis"?
Yea, he's made it clear, ICE will not be welcome in Philly.

Yeah Republicans should be drinking themselves blind tonight.

It's great to see Republicans get crushed.

It's sad because the Dem establishment will take this and pour more cement into their foundation of corruption and never being better. Hey we are better than the other guys, let's keep our corporate consultant lives nice and comfy and never get better and truly fight for real systemic change, or go too far outside the boundaries of our normal politicking Washington insider world.

Has anybody heard about trying to save get those subsidies back for Americans now without healthcare?

It's like the Democrats just forgot all about it. Instead of taking the subsidies and ice and making a stand on those two things, they just let the subsidies disappear. A bunch of fucking worthless pussies.
