Michelle Obama was so great. We all needed to hear what she had to say. I am glad to have watched her live. Moving.

How good a President he was is debatable.

But holy hell is he a god-tier speaker and candidate. I believe he would have absolutely trounced Trump in 2016. That is going to be hard to top.

And yes I had to change my mind and watch it.

Not watching at all. Definitely hope Kamala wins, but not really enthusiastic about her and Walz. I figure if Kamala wins and the Reps keep at least one house of Congress, not much will get done. I wish she was a bit more focused on cutting spending and reducing the deficit, instead of just throwing money at every problem. And anything she would try to do by executive order will be blocked by SCOTUS. So basically, I feel if Kamala gets elected things will go on pretty much as they are, and if Trump gets elected we will be in for a rough ride, but as long as the Dems keep either the House or Senate perhaps they can block his more malignant endeavors. If Trump wins, and the Reps take both houses of Congress, wow, we are in a world of hurt.

We have a revenue problem not a spending problem. If we stopped handing out tax cuts to corporations and billionaires like they are candy the budget would be much more balanced. Under Trump we literally borrowed money to give to billionaires.

Can't say I agree. The guy had to be pushed out by the massed-ranks of Democrat elites sending thinly-coded messages. I mean, he did the right thing in the end, so fair enough, maybe it's churlish and pointlessly-divisive to go on about it now, but I don't feel like going overboard praising him for not taking the whole country (and probably the world) down out of sheer egotism.

Obsessively 'cutting the deficit' was what the Tories did here, and all they accomplished was to delay any economic recovery, upset people so much they voted for Brexit, and end up with worse government finances than they started with, after over a decade of pain. Utterly pointless project.

I just don’t understand how Biden could not view himself as one term from the get go given his age. You would think a succession plan would have been job 1.

You would think he'd have run in '16 as a successor to BO. We wouldn't have had the mess to begin with and he'd have been a shoo-in for a second term and four in a row for Dems.

Even if he had lost re-election in '20, it probably wouldn't have been to a psychotic. That whole chapter probably wouldn't have happened.

To be honest, I think the transition to Harris was planned for a while. And the timing was strategically delayed until after Trump picked a VP and had his campaign set in stone.
I think Joe's refusals AND his debate failure were all theater until the change could be made.
The timing couldn't have been more perfect.
That's my conspiracy theory. I'm not married to it, but I am banging it like she's mine.
