I caught all four evenings of the DNC. It didn't fail my expectations, or I can say it exceeded them.

You can call it a 'propaganda-fest", but I think citizens have a responsibility to tune in to the propaganda so they can evaluate it. There is, you know, a "Propaganda of the Truth". People are naive and stupid to think that all propaganda is falsehood.

It's campaign season! This is all part of the show! I could feel sorry for Trump and his base, but I just won't. I won't do it . . .
I don't feel any particular responsibility to watch either the the DNC or RNC event, they're spectacles for the faithful, and the roll-out of platform and policies continues after the events. Particularly in an election like this upcoming one, the choice for all thinking people who value freedom is pretty obvious.

Awww, c'mon . . . tell us how you really feel!

I don't watch too many celebrity roasts, but this one was an all-timer:

(Technically, they were roasting Rob Lowe that night.)

Unfortunately for us, there are a lot of un-thinking people out there and they vote too.

At the very least it wasn't fear-mongering dreck like the GOP puts out constantly and has for decades. They just keep amping it up is all.

And if anyone wants to say bringing up Project 2025 is fear-mongering--well if fear is based on facts it's healthy. I wouldn't swim in the ocean at night with a cut, because factually that is greatly increasing my chances of a shark attack. Try to get right-wingers to articulate fears on things like gay people and illegals, and it's just a stream of lying warbl-garbl. "Open borders!" etc.

As a Vikings fan in FL, how about we stop bringing up the '98 season and Gary Anderson. That one fricking hurt. That game single-handedly made me step back from sports a bit and stop being a fan(atic) about it. For an extremely funny and pathetic movie example, watch Buffalo 66 where the girl's parents keep re-watching the tape of Norwood's miss and praying that this time he makes it.... :)
Sounds like listening to Walz's speeches over and over, waiting for him to announce the rebates he campaigned on.

Imagine actually caring about a meaningless one time $1000 tax rebate.
I’ll take $1k right now however I get your point, it is temporary and short sighted. Sort of like opting for a bonus at work instead of a pay raise. The bonus is a one time event and the raise is a recurring event.

And I don't think them watching either event is likely to sway their vote, likely they'd only tune into the one for the party they already support, if even that. I mean, there might be Duck Dynasty or The Masked Singer re-runs on.

You have some data for that? Not that it really matters, but sharks are known to come in much closer to shore at dusk and night (seen them while shore fishing at night). Visibility is obviously lower and most attacks are cases where sharks think we are fish (when surfing, anytime I'd see a school of mullet near I'd move the hell away from it). Or do you have issues with the whole blood in the water idea?

Going by numbers, of course there will be more attacks in the day since the vast majority of people don't swim in the ocean at night. I still wouldn't consider it a good idea personally, but again....doesn't really matter, if the analogy bothers anyone I'll find one that isn't false :)

I liked Bill Clinton’s quip that he is younger than Trump. But man, it does sort of show how somehow Trump manages to look much younger than he is compared to Clinton, even beyond the hair dye.

What? Have you seen a picture of Trump recently? He looks like an old sweaty mummy.
I'm surprise he hasn't joined the old man billionaires facelift club. He's already got the ridiculous colored hair, and complexion going on. Why not look like you belong in a casket.

Thinking of you guys, both no longer here. Wynn and the guy who used to own Paramount.

Trump should try to avoid outdoor events in the sun, he looks absolutely awful especially with his "tan" all spotty and flaking off.

He's fatter than Bill and that helps round out the wrinkles. Up until recently he did sound more....vital?...than an average 78 year old but lately he's been sounding weak. Voice is a lot higher pitched (again an age thing, like Bill's). Not everyone hits that age cliff at the same age, Trump I think is just starting to.

Perhaps he should ask for a filter for his aquarium, like how actresses in old movies used to be filmed iirc.

And while I don't usually pick on people's appearance--the asshole picks on everyone else's (including disabled people), so turnabout is fair play.

They appear to be approximately the same age to me

Perhaps he should ask for a filter for his glass box, like how actresses in old movies used to be filmed iirc.

I'm thinking more of John.

Yah, I think the fat rounding out the wrinkles is the difference. Clinton just looks gaunt.
Clinton has had several health issues. He had a quadruple bypass and also was in ICU for a serious infection a few years ago. My wife recently had a bout with sepsis, and it is very severe, and can lead to long term issues you never completely come back from.
Too bad really to listen to him speak now compared to his prime; he really has gone downhill, and was a great speaker at one time. I know a lot of people think he is a sleazebag, but I actually liked him, or his policies at least. I worked US Civil Service from 1971 until a few years ago, and at least it was great not to be demonized like by Regan, and to a lesser extent, the Bushes and Trump did. At least he seemed to identify with the common man, a quality that is basically lacking today in both parties. (Reps are in the back pocket of big business and the rich, and the Dems only care if you are in the correct identity politics group.) As for his women, a lot of presidents were very profligate, Clinton just happened to have the "bad fortune" to be in an age where the media no longer covered it up, and the Rep congress was more effective at smearing him than in the past.

end of rant
