Saw screens for this one a looong time ago...it's just now in Beta? Well, I guess it's a good thing that they're spending so much time on it.

It has been in beta for like a year. Release is next month I think.

Why didn't Chris Taylor just take the SupCom formula and convert it into an AoE-like game? Set in the ancient world. It would have been so awesome. ARGH.
Now, its some piece of gimmicky crap instead. Game devs piss me off sometimes. FUCK YOU Chris Taylor.

its a lose lose situation with a lot of idiotic critics and gamers. if the go with the "if its not broken, then don't fix it" mentality and improve on a game, they will complain that its not innovative enough. but if they try something different, they'll get bitched at for going away from the original formula and destroying the game.

If they had made DotA with more maps and new features I would not complain one bit. DotA always has a hilarious collection of bugs and balance issues

Thing is, what has he done different that differentiates this game from any other?
It's just DOTA in some stupid looking setting with a bunch of lame looking wannabe cool units.
That's simply what it boils down to, name me one innovation this RTS promises that will distinguish it from other RTS games?

Reading the beta forums, it sounds like a lot of disappointment. I personally hate when developers release a game that is imbalanced or unfinished and it sounds like that's what's happening here. I've been a huge TA and Supcom fan since their release and I wanna see GPG do well, but my impression from what I've read is that Demigod is gonna be a disappointment. I think I'd prefer it if DoTA was released in higher resolution.
On the other hand, there aren't exactly a lot of good pc games available atm that I haven't gotten completely bored of, so this might kill a few weeks or something.
Edit: We'll be hearing a lot more impressions about it very soon, as the full version is available now in places we can't talk about.

It's from Chris Taylor, so it may *hopefully* be decent. There was a pretty tantalizing article in GFW magazine a while ago.

I've been playing the full version for a few hours now, initial impressions are positive but I don't think it's gonna be better than DoTA. Probably a few weeks of multiplayer fun, but not a game I'll be playing a year down the road. It is also currently lacking a lot of polish. Ie: I use an item that boosts speed by 25% for 8 seconds while attacking a fleeing hero, and it breaks off my attack... I try again and then right click him right after and my hero just aims toward him and spins toward him but doesnt run. This should of been fixed well before release so the speed boost would of been gained and you don't break off your chase. that and many other things.
After many coats of polish it'll be decent, but not nearly as good as dota basically is my current opinion. Game is pretty small too, 8 heroes and ~8 maps. Feels like a big demo.
