That's what I was told... over 2 weeks ago. This is BS.

I think it's time to make some calls to Dell...

The story goes.

"We wanted to send you the rebate checks, but Dell was holding us up. They needed to verify the rebate information on all claims before we could process the checks. We just received the checks and they should be sent out on Friday. Expect your $200 rebate check to be in your mailbox no later than Feb 23."

What a bunch of garbage. So much for the 6 to 8 week turnaround. They only good thing is that at the very least they are honoring the rebates for an obvious goof on their part. Now PAY UP SUCKER!

I want to spend that rebate check on other price mistakes!

Sigh, still waiting. I called early last week and got the "we're still waiting for funds to be allocated from WD." I couldn't get a firm date out of him though. The rep was polite at least, which goes a long ways these days.

I hate to crap in your Cheerios, but the fiscal year ends in October, not January. Maybe they are waiting for the first quarter to close, but my bet is that they are waiting to see how many people scream for the rebate.

How do those brown cheerios taste??

Then you better tell Michael to reschedule his Feb call with the analysts.

Dell fiscal years definately run Feb-Jan.

I believe the quarter theory might be correct - just spoke to Matt from Canada and the checks will be mailed out on 01/26/04 so very few will be cashed before Feb!!

Yeah, read my post above.... I was wondering if I should have sent it certified. But, I guess it wouldn't have made a difference.

This stuff about their fiscal year is garbage. They have to record the money to us as "accounts payable" which any accountant would recognize if it changed drastically.

Realistically, they're just screwing us out of the money.

It appears as WD owns the rebate, it would reflected on their books as a liability. I bet Dell has an agreement to give some of the money to WD to fulfill the rebates, but my guess is this agreement will not be "in force" until after their fiscal year, making their books look better in terms of cash position then they actually are.

IMHO: Creative accounting on Dell's part at our expense.
