Nice country america.. Normally I would not have gone after a rebate that I knew was not correct but when I was talking to dell rep they said yes was good. In my book that is just like warning them. One thing though we should appreciate the fact that dell stood behind the error and made sure it went through. Most other shops are just saying sorry we made an error to bad so sad... Thanks Dell for standing behind this one. :)

What do you mean by both rebates? I mailed in for one rebate worth $200 (though I purchased two drives, to two separate addresses).

Are you sure you're not thinking of the 2-$100 rebates for the Dell Dimension 2650 that was like $250 after rebates? I received those a few days ago, but still haven't received the rebate from the WD 200GB Hard Drive.

On mine it was 2 seperate rebates on the purchase of the wd 200gb hd had a choice of wd 200 or wd 180 at the time and I purchased the wd 200gb. I was sent 2 seperate 100 $ rebates on the drive after sending in two seperate rebate forms that were available at the time. Date of order was 9/26/03 and I filled in 2 seperate rebate forms with 2 different overlaping dates. I am on page one of this one and I was never cancelled had purchase date of 9/26 and was told to use the original rebate forms that overlaped in time. If you want to try and figure out what I am talking about start reading from page one of this forum. I am happy no matter. 22 $ for a 200 gig hard drive.

They are really taking forever with these rebates. What happened to 6 to 8 weeks. Maybe the people who filled two separate ones will get it sooner.

I just got off the phone w/ WD, and got the same run around answer. "If you don't get the rebate in 30 days, call us again." WTF, do they not have enough money to return ours???

I GOT THEM! I just received the 2 $100 checks in the mail today. I called the Western Digital Rebate center 12/10/03 after waiting 2 months, and they told me to resubmit my copies of everything altogether. I did that same day. And here's my 2 $100 checks...beautiful! I paid $222.26, so bottom line - this drive cost me $22.26 WOW!!

Hey all,

I found a rebate locator on WD's site: http://rebates.westerndigital.young-america.com/LookupbyStreetNumberZipCode.asp

It's a bit confusing because they give a date shipped and then a disclaimer saying it may take up to 6 weeks from the date the rebate was shipped to arrive. At the least though, you can see if they ever recieved your rebates. According to the site, my rebate was "shipped" on Nov. 29. Guess I'm going to have to deal with their customer service because I never recieved a check.

Ok, I just called the number listed on the Western Digital page. The woman was very polite, but she said that WD was not expecting the overwhelming response to this offer that it received, and therefore there are some "fulfillment problems". She said that they were simply under order from WD to wait, and that I should call back in 2 weeks to find out more information.

I'm going to draft a formal letter of complaint to WD and to the FTC about this. Who wants in?

I called the number on the web-site after I had not recieved the rebate 6 weeks after the estimated ship date and was told that the rebate was still being processed. The customer service rep said that the web-site info was incorrect and that he had no estimate about when I'd get it. When pressed for a ball-park, he said that it should be within the next two months!

It seems people on fatwallet filled more than one rebate. They are making money on this, filling out all three rebates. It is kind of wrong though.

That's cool. Can anyone put up a link to the FW thread? I searched for it, but I can't find it. Or tell me what the title says?

After talking with WD they seem to be blaming Dell for the delay. The lady told me that waiting on Dell for information before fulfilling the rebates. I think its time we goto the Dell forums and see what Chandler and Cathy can do for us. This is becoming a pain. I would say that Dell is the problem with our rebate being delayed, because I have never had a Young America W.D. rebate take this long.

If people are filling for over $200 rebate, all of thier submission should be denied. That's one way to stop people abusing the system. Dell is kind enough to honor the crazy 200GB for under $30 after rebate and how come people still want more?

When I contacted WD two weeks ago the lady was really polite and said the rebate was still in processing and should be in my mailbox within a month.

Checking the WD rebate tracking site, it shows that my rebate was "shipped" on November 11. Is there supposed to be another step in the process? I figured that if it was "shipped", it should be on its way to me...although I guess 8 weeks is still not enough...maybe 10 weeks?

But I guess the exact really doesn't matter that much to me, as long as I receive the rebate...

I called yesterday and the CSR told me that ALL of the $200 rebates were on hold and that he expected them to go out in less than two weeks or so. Why he didn't say.

That's what I was told... over 2 weeks ago. This is BS.
