Any consensus on how to deal with the greater than 137 GB? Use the PCI card, use some software patch, make two partitions, or what?

I use one 200GB partition with Windows XP Pro SP1 on Abit IS7-E or ASUS P4P800 or Epox 4PDAI with no problem. No PCI controler card used.

How to print INVOICE for DELL-Western Digital 200GB.

Log in at DELL and go to:

LINK

Fill all requirements and SUBMIT, then you will see Electronic Certified Copy of your invoice.

Hope this help.

I plugged mine into the Promise card and installed on a Fry's special ECS K7vta3 XP1800+ running XP Pro, service packs applied and its working fine with 50 hours of DVD quality recording using my AIW Radeon. My plan is that once I have a backup done I will plug the drive directly into the motherboard and see how its goes.

My WinXP SP1 is actually being a bit weird, it won't detect the drive w/ more than 137 GB but if I partition it outside of windows at 200GB the OS accesses it just fine. This is with or without the ATA card.

May be the bios. SP1 sees all 200 (well actually 186.31) fine on my Dell without the card. But yoiu PC should see it all with the card. Are you sure you installed the driver for the card right?

Its not the bios since even my onboard ata ports are 48 bit (checked the manual for MB). And both in the bios and from the promise ata card on boot shows 186 GB. Windows just won't let me create a partition greater than 137gb.

I don't think it will be on www.rebatestatus.com

I checked yesterday morning - nothing. Today it's there! I sent mine in the last week of October, so it took them about three weeks to get to this stage. Their estimate on shipping the rebate is 11/24 (but I recently had another rebate that they processed - it took another month past their estimate). Looking good!

Looks like mine was verified yesterday as well. "Ship date" is 11/24. I'm slightly confused as to why it says...

"Your rebate request has been received and is in process. If you do not receive your rebate check six weeks from the indicated 'Date Rebate Shipped'"

It takes 6 weeks transit for a rebate to be mailed from WD to me?

I sent in the rebates seperate right away for 2 seperate $100 rebates. I called them today and they said that one of my rebates got rejected. After talking to them for a while he gave me an address to resubmit the original information and the new rebate form so that they can figure out what to do.

That sounded like a lot of trouble so I called dells customer service and told them about the situation. They gave me credit for $100 back to my credit card.

I was promised the other rebate from WD.

I don't know why i have a lot of problem with dell's wd200GB order,I order it on 9/26 morning, everyone of the people I knew already receive the drive and send out the rebate form, but not me. And another problem is raising. They sent me my order on 11/5/2003 FROM DELL TO DELL, I called and they said (4cs and 2 managers) they need to wait until they have to vertify they already received it before they can reorder another one for me. Reorder is another problem now, they sent out ANOTHER ORDER to me today at 11/17/2003, and in "My Order status", it shows the order date is 11/17/2003 for the price of $247 (They already charge me for $222in last order from dell to dell). I do believe they playing dirty trick, they want to give me hard time so maybe I will give up on my order. I don't know what to do now, I will discuss it with credit card and try to call dell again and see what happen. I knew some of the CS is located at India, i have hard time to discuss my problem with them, they are very polite, but they seems like 0% helpful to me. Does anyone has the bad luck like I do, please let me know what did you do.

I would keep it patient and persistent with Dell alone. Dell is showing extremely good faith in honoring a pretty obviously technical error in the rebate amounts, so making any kind of big fuss before I get my rebate might not be the best thing to do.

My story.

I placed my order on September 25th.

On the 26th, I received an email from Dell that because I was exporting the hard drive outside of the US (I live in Canada) I would need to answer some questions (questions I had actually filled out during the order process, but for some reason, they lost them).

On the 26th I responded with an inquiry as to the validity of the two rebates...no response...a few days later I send another email asking about the validity of the two rebates (I wanted it in writing that I would get $200 in rebates) and giving the answers to the export questions...still no response...I send another email stating they have very poor customer service skills...I receive an order confirmation (and order number) on the 10th of October with no explanation for the delay, and no confirmation of the validity of the $200 in rebates.

On October 21st I call to find out where my Hard Drive is, and to ensure that I am eligible for the $200 rebate. Brianna assures me that I am eligible for the rebate because her system shows that I placed the order on the 25th of September.

On October 22nd I receive an email from Dell that the shipment date is delayed until the 31st of October.

On the 29th of October I receive an email stating that the Hard Drive will be delayed some more, and asking if I still wish to wait. I respond that as long as my rebate is still going to be valid, I will wait.

On the 5th of November my Hard Drive ships via Airborne.

I pick up my Hard Drive on the 11th of November. After going through customs and paying the Canadian taxes, I realize that my packing slip mentions nothing about the $200 rebate, and gives a date of November 5th. Trouble...

I speak to one customer service agent who tells me they can't help me, and who connects me to the rebate department. The rebate department assures me that if I send in the packing slip that I got with my Hard Drive I will NOT get my rebate...he tells me to contact customer care.

I phone customer care and speak to another useless rep...half an hour on the phone and all she can tell me is "I'm sorry sir, my records indicate you ordered on the 10th of October...I can send you another copy of the packing slip you have, but that won't help you because it doesn't show the rebate amount or the correct date...would you like me to send you that copy?" Argh!!!

Today is my day off, so I devote it to resolving this problem.

First I phone the Western Digital rebate center to inquire about the rumor I heard that they have the names of the individuals that are eligible for the $200 rebate, and that the information on the packing slip is basically irrelevant. NOPE, my rebate would be denied if I sent in the packing slip showing the date of November 5th and no rebate information.

I call Dell customer care and ask the person if they know about the $200 rebate, he puts me on hold to check it out. When he comes back, he tells me that there is a rebate listed on their site but that he is unsure if it is a Maxtor or Western Digital rebate (here we go again...should I just hang up now...) I tell him it's Western Digital, and explain the problem with my packing slip...the date I placed the order doesn't match the confirmation date, nor the ship date...back on hold. He comes back saying that if I get a $200 rebate, then I would have only paid $22 for the Hard Drive...back on hold.
He recognizes that I deserve the rebate and offers me either $200 in store credit, or $100 chargeback to my Visa and $100 store credit, I tell him that I would rather have $200 chargeback to my Visa, but I'll take the $100/$100 offer, back on hold. He comes back with a case number...finally!

Now to get Western Digital to give me the card and the 3 year warrenty :)

the status is showing that the check is estimated to be mailed on 11-11-03 but it did not happen yet.

Anyone received your rebate check yet?

I haven't received my rebate yet either. I plan to call their support number after 6 weeks have passed, which usually gets the check sent quickly.
