I dealt with this very issue, albeit with a 2005FPW. Call them up, tell them that you just bought a monitor and that you found a coupon soon thereafter that would have saved you money. If they say that they can't offer a refund, tell them that you'd like to RMA your old monitor, and then you'll just order the new one after you get your refund. The CSR I spoke with asked me to hold on for a sec, and after asking for clearance for her supervisor, refunded my credit card the $25 I would have saved with the coupon.

There's no gimmick in all this -- personally, I would have done exactly this if Dell hadn't offered me the refund. I wouldn't have saved any money, since I would have had to pay to ship the unit back to Dell. But it also would have cost them $$$ to restock the old monitor, refund my CC, process my new order and send out the new monitor. I guess it was more the principle of it for me.... but everything worked out in the end. HTH...
