Such a fun game, thanks for posting this info.

On their website, they also mention ( http://www.hiddenpath.com/press/69/ ):

The devs have also confirmed that the new funding will allow them to go ahead with Mac and Linux support, as well as a level editor (which were all part of the unmet $750,000 stretch goal).

Cool, I pitched in a few bucks to the kickstarter hoping this would eventually happen.

Great news. I backed it. They said those who backed the kickstarter will get it for free.

Hope they don't "fix" something that isn't broke. I'm on my 5th anti-virus app after the prior 4 all "improved" beyond use.

I read that it took them longer than expected to recoup costs of making the first game so they didn't have a lot of extra money to do the sequel. I think a lot of people got the game though but they probably didn't make a lot of profit per copy sold.

The kickstarter also didn't hit all of their goals so they ended up using a private investor.

Cool news!

Did the first one not do well commercially? I read that they had a private investor fund part of this new one.

Wouldn't surprise me that their revenue for the first game was lackluster. I think I bought it for $10 on Steam (and at the time, it would often go for $5). All the expansions I bought for a dollar each.

Exactly why I think cell phone games won't make much money, they are dirt cheap.

AFAIK for the original game that is not possible yet. They are working on finishing the new game and will see afterward if they can devote resources for it or not.
There are 4 user created maps for DG but that's it for the moment.

Love the idea of being able to make your own levels, but not so keen on monetizing them. Think they may be opening a can of worms; think two similar maps but one gets monetized, while the other doesn't. That unlucky map-maker claims the other guy tested his map before starting his own version of it, which just happens to have nearly the same gameplay.

Boost towers look cool; can see the strategy of those right away. Cannon towers on those in a second row would be powerful.

Multiplayer sounds cool too - 'when one player kills an alien, that alien appears on the other player's map at the same spot with full health'... looking forward to trying that.

Only watched some of the video without sound, the gameplay looks fun ad what I could tell of changes looks like good additions/revisions.

Nice to hear that some reviews proclaimed it to be the best TD game there is. I thought so but I heard so little about this game in forums that I thought it only sold a few thousand copies. I loved the game.
