Last year, in the NCAA Tournament Pool at work, the lady who won just picked every higher seeded team.
Choosing the Colts, Patriots, Chargers, Ravens, and Seahawks to be in the playoffs doesn't make you an NFL expert.
Want to be like Deeko? Here you go.
1) Copy last year's final standings (83% probability of winners repeating).
2) Make approximately six changes to the middle of various divisions and make some remark about somebody they lost or mention somebody you saw do well for them last year on NFL Primetime highlights (50% probability of just guessing right).
3) Make one shocking prediction (33% probability).
4) Overestimate YOUR team and then criticize others for doing the same thing.
5) Point out at the end of the season that you were 70% correct and must be a genius.
6) Repeat next year.

Could you elaborate on your NFC South predictions? The Saint's have improved their offense a bit. We still have some work to do with the O Line but so far I have seen a marked improvement in both the passing game (have you seen the numbers Brees has put up so far?) and the running game (more specifically R. Bush). We also made some nice pickups on defense and so far they look to be playing quite a bit better than last year.
Overall I think we have a better team then last year and barring any injuries I am confident that we will at the least match last year, including winning the division.

yowolabi, the defense and special teams were directly or indirectly responsible for a large amount of those points. Losing Thomas Jones does not help the offense, especially if Cedric Benson doesn't pick it up in the regular season. Its a simple, generally accepted (outside of the chicago metro region anyway) that the Bears are an offensively-challenged team that that Rex Grossman is not a very good QB.
Are the defense and special teams going anywhere? Both are as good or better than last year. Cedric played a lot towards the end of last year and played about the same as Thomas Jones. Rex is now in his second full season as a starter. There is no logical reason to expect their offense to get worse.
26.7 points a game, 2nd in the nfl. I think it's only generally accepted that the Bears are offensively challenged by people who only watch Sports Center highlights, and don't bother to look up numbers or watch film. As far as Rex, anyone who thinks they know what a QB is capable of by looking at one season, can hardly call himself a knowledgeable football person. Experience improves qb's more than any other position on the field.
Well with the number of opportunities the offence sees because of the 3-and-outs their defense generates probably accounts for a lot when looking at their numbers.

In summary, the Cowboys are great, Romo invented the forward pass, and Jerry Rice wishes he was as good as TO. Sigh. . .
The reality is the Giants are the team to beat. Ain't that right, ThePresence? And for those of you ignorant enough to doubt Brandon Jacobs, be scared. Be very, very scared. His 6'4", 265 lb frame belies his outstanding outside speed. And with Eli coming of age this year, the only thing possibly stopping the Jints are injuries, (of which they have already been hit with for the third year in a row), and what may be the worst coaching staff in the League. Still, stomping the Cowbitches on opening night in Dallas will be a season maker for me.

Did you seriously just evaluated whether or not a team will make it to the super bowl based on the score of a preseason game?
I mean, if you want to point out weaknesses that's fine or a certain position's play that's fine too but to say that because the Cowboys lost 28-16 they won't be making the super bowl is the most rediculous statement I have ever heard.

No, what's ridiculous is your ability to spell.
I think the Cowboys would be lucky to make it past the first round of the playoffs if they even make it in. Of course, with the state of the NFC they probably will. I bet the Bears don't make the playoffs. Want to put some money on it?

Still counts as a win if i remember correctly. You could have the greatest offense in the world, but if your D can't stop anything, you still lose.
And with Rex, please try and come up with a valid argument. Stop repeating whatever you hear on Around the Horn and look at some of his 100+ (albeit pointless) QB ratings. He did suck at times, but was also amazing at times.

LOL Engineers don't have to know how to spell.
And what do you want to put money on? I will bet you $200 that the Bears make the playoffs. PM me if you want to go through with it, I would like nuetral 3rd party to hold the money so you don't weasel out.
And I never guaranteed the Cowboys make it to the super bowl, I just pointed out that using a preseason score to determine whether a team will or not is idiotic (did I spell that one right, I dunno I don't spell-check my ATOT posts). But in the NFC out of about 6 teams you could pick any one to go to the super bowl and you can't go too wrong, so Deeko and I might as well pick our boys, I mean really why not? I don't have any problem with people picking the Saints, Eagles, Seahawks, Bears, of Cowboys. They all probably have equal shots in reality.

I pointed out earlier in the thread that Rex has had great games. But in the NFC where teams are seperated by very little (especially the playoff teams) they are going to need 3-4 consistent games from Rex to win a super bowl. Now what do you think the chances are that Rex plays 3 consistent games against playoff caliber defenses? In my opinion, very bad. But we will see once the season starts.

Nice conclusion you drew about my post BTW. Because I laughed at Deeko about his prediction and cited a preseason game you assume that I'm basing my opinion entirely on that one game? Dude, you are clueless.
BTW-Accountants don't need to spell either...I guess , yet I can. FYI-Coming off as ignorant doesn't help your position...doesn't matter what you do for a living. It just makes you look stupid.

Where did I say the Bears would WIN the super bowl, or that they ever had a chance? Apparantly accountants can spell but not read.
And are you going to bet me that the Bears will make the playoffs or are you already weaseling out?

Well what else did you base your prediction on? This is all I had, therefore I assume this is why you are saying the Cowboys aren't going to make the superbowl. It is idiotic and ridiculous (got it that time!) to base any predictions on the scores of pre-season games. By definition the games don't count.
And please, since I am so clueless, tell me who will make the superbowl out of the NFC. If you think that telling a joke is being ignorant I really can't help you.
So in conclusion. You are trying to weasel out of a bet and I am clueless, yet you offer no reasoning or predictions of your own. Good game, internet tough guy!

Well, with the Bears in the same division as the Packers, Vikings and Lions they probably will make the playoffs...as sad as that is. They will definitely be 0-3 after the first three games of this season though. I was referring to the Superbowl last year and their schedule last year...not this year.
