An FBI investigation ends you up at the exact same place that the committee did. Several weeks ago when Feinstein first found out, sure. At this point it’s merely a stalling tactic.

Then let's have FBI do their background check.

Both are compelling with terribly high stakes under oath.

Ford had everything to lose by coming out.
Kavanaugh had everything to gain.
The Democrats have known about Dr. Ford for over 2 months. In all that time except for the last 10 days they never did anything to investigate the charges. Rape in Maryland has no Statute of Limitations, they could have had the Maryland State Police investigating the story for weeks. They have Senate investigators, where were those? They even refused to aid the Republicans in Senate investigations and meetings. District of Columbia Police? Nope. Now they call for the FBI and further delays in the process when they know full well that the Senate has no control whatsoever on the FBI, the Administration does.

None of that matter as he didn't even use that as his defense. Just look at his answer... It's either he's lying or not (and Ford). None of that process crap matters - just focus on the core issue- who's lying?

"Would you be willing to order an investigation into these allegations?"

K "I will be happy to do anything the committee asks me to"

"No, that wasn't the question; Would you be willing to have the FBI investigate these allegations?"

K "Well, the FBI gathers evidenc-..."

"That is not what I am asking you; Are you or are you not willing to request for the FBI to investigate these allegations whether they are true or false?"

K "As I have said, the FBI collects evidence and witness testimonies and as I have already mentioned before..."

"I'll take that as a no."

Feinstein said she kept this quiet BECAUSE Ford had asked her to.
Period!

Also....
Democrats DID ASK old fart Grassley for the FBI, and old fart resisted.
Refused.
Exactly as has Donald Trump refused to allow the FBI.
THEY do NOT want the truth about Kavanaugh to come out.
Another PERIOD!

So I guess Democrats will need to retake the senate and the house, then impeach Kavanaugh. And too I would hope impeach Gorsuch.
Why Gorsuch?
Simply because Gorsuch should not be there.
Republicans perverted the process to deny Obama his guy, and republicans instead put in their guy. Thumbing their nose at the US Constitution.
So both Gorsuch and Kavanaugh MUST GO.
They need to be impeached.
One, for unconstitutional insertion, and the second for being a rapist.

Yes, it's not up to him. He has no control over the FBI and he knows it. He also knows that every delay will cause more and more of the horrific lies that are being told about him. Just more lies, horror and destruction of his wife and children with longer delays. Sorry, i don't agree.

His rape of a girl on a boat in Rhode Island.
How about the absurd allegations of gang rape?

He rightfully isn’t going to play along with a stall tactic. They’ve had weeks to call for one, they didn’t. Clock is ticking toward the midterms. Why would he agree to play along? What would the FBI do that the committee hasn’t already?

This has been explained to you time and time again and yet you continuously dishonestly claim that Democrats or Republicans for that matter had the ability to have the FBI reopen the background check to fact find information on the allegations being made, when, in fact, only the president could have requested the background check to be reopened.

Why do you need to lie?

One thing that comes to mind is the FBI could question Mark Judge. You know, the principal witness to the alleged crime. Truly, what else could the committee have done, hahaha.

I do appreciate that you guys are at least willing to come out and say you don’t care if it’s true or not and your actual motivation is concern of not getting a Republican justice appointed. It’s shamefully putting your party before your country but at least you are up front about it.

Ugly is using the tactic we can expect from the Republican senators, to ignore yesterday’s hearing as if it didn’t happen and move on to confirm Kavanaugh. The Dems who claim that this will help in the midterms may be correct but Kavanaugh will still be on the court, a disaster for our country.

And neither do you, anyone posting on here, the senators, or the rest of the country quite frankly. It’s politics and about that SC seat. That’s it.

This is some hard core projection. I have a close friend who was raped in college and I most certainly care about if an attempted rapist is on the Supreme Court or not.

It’s pretty gross that not only do you not care, but that you think everyone is like you.

My ex wife was raped in high school. You ain’t the only one who knows somebody. Do I care if anything happened to Ms Ford, yeah. I also care about guilty by accusation too. And hate to say it but yeah the only reason anyone pretends to care what happened to them back in high school is because of the seat.

This is self-contradicting. You either care about if her accusation is true independent of the seat or you do not. I do and I’m certain I’m nowhere close to alone.

If you care, you should be perfectly fine with waiting to confirm Kavanaugh until an investigation takes place. If you don’t care that’s fine, just own the fact that you’re fine with potentially having an attempted rapist on the Supreme Court because he’s on your political sports team.

I keep asking you to share your thoughts and feelings and you keep deflecting. This thread was started to discuss that and not politics. People here care about things more than politics. You are the person derailing the thread into purely politics. Because of that, it has essentially become the same thread as the main one on his Senate confirmation hearings. Either get back on track and answer my question or I would suggest the mods lock this post because the comments being rendered belong in the other thread.

It is impossible for conservatives who claim to be more moral than liberals to face the real truth of their condition, that all they care about is maintaining their own brand of moral superiority over societyno matter how corrupt it may be. UC will endlessly deflect that he is more than happy to have a drunken frat who got off on assaulting girls in his youth than prevent such worthlessness from disqualifying a conservative candidate. He is the very moral slime he sees in others. I hold him in utter contempt because he is a stain on the human race. But I can’t blame him because he didn’t create Ahis own insanity. It was forced on him.

I’ve shared my thoughts and feelings and haven’t deflected anything. Answered the questions as I see it and to the best of my ability with what’s known at the time.

Who the frick made you master and commander of the thread anyways trying to dictate “answer me or else” ?

Are you saying that if he is guilty of these alleged sexual assaults that they should have no bearing on whether he is confirmed to the US Supreme Court?

That’s not what I’ve said (numerous times). It’s impossible to know what happened nor is finding out the truth of the matter what the senators are after anyways.

Hopefully that answers to your satisfaction Master and Commander.

So, what do you think about Kavanaugh's performance yesterday? Is this really a person we want on the SCOTUS?

Aren’t you concerned at all that’s there’s no criminal charges or at least investigation? You’ve never read stories of fake rape?

I would love for there to be an investigation unfortunately Republicans are blocking attempts to investigate it.

As for criminal charges, no not concerned at all. The idea that someone is going to prosecute something like this from 3 decades ago is super unlikely. It's also not particularly relevant here as the standard we use for 'not fit for SCOTUS' is about eight miles away from 'will send you to prison'.

The part where Feinstein and/or Ford's attorneys lied to Dr. Ford about her ability to have a closed and confidential meeting with investigators before the hearing ever happened.
