And in the meantime, the midterm elections happens and the Senate shifts to the Democrats. When he is cleared, the Democrats don't confirm him and the seat is lost.

This is and always has been about getting a justice in before the midterms. There is a reason that the allegation was dropped on him at the last possible moment instead of in July when the accusation was known by Feinstein.... it maximizes the chance of running out the clock.

Given that the woman is a left-wing activist, has been contradicted by every witness she named, mentioned nothing about the incident for decades, declined to provide potentially falsifiable data such as LOCATION/DATE and has no evidence whatsoever to back up her allegation, her credibility is not very good.

I believe all of the allegations are nothing more than an attempt to run out the clock before the midterms to steal a Supreme Court pick. The stakes are pretty damn high. Roe V Wade would probably be at risk with this pick. As a person who is strongly pro-choice, I recognize how terrible it would be if it was reversed. I also recognize that the Republicans stole a Supreme Court from the Democrats in Obama's last year (and that this would even the score). I marked the Republican theft as another low point for Congress. This perhaps could be just as low, if not lower. If these women are lying, they are destroying a man's life for their own political gain. Morally that is a pretty shaky. It also sets a precedent for future Supreme Court nominees. I doubt too many Democrats would be happy if a Republican activist(s) accused their nominee of sexual assault in high school with no backing evidence other than their own say so, and the accusations cost them their pick.

So in other words you believe she has been preparing this conspiracy for the last half decade or so in order to spring it on Republicans in order to delay this nomination past the 2018 midterm elections.

Do you realize how insane you sound?

Also, preventing a white man from getting on the supreme court is "destroying his life".

You are an idiot. What is destroying his life is the claim that he assaulted someone. That type of thing tends to ruin a life when wrong or right.

No, that is not what he said.

I'd say publicly dragging his name through the mud and right or wrong he'll forever be associated with sexual assault is "destroying his life".

What is "destroying his life" is the fact that his actions as a drunk frat-bro are finally catching up to him.

If you think she's lying, ask yourself why she would and what she'd gain. Besides death threats and risking her professional career.

False premise. People lie for lots of reasons that are not for personal gain.

You said stopping a white man, not stopping an alleged attacker. Drastically different.

Not to mention she would have had to hatch this dastardly plot against him back in 2012 or whatever. Also, if her goal was to make an unproveable allegation including Mark Judge in the room is the height of stupidity as if someone were actually attempting to disprove her claim they could have called Judge in to testify in today's hearing. Of course Republicans did not, for reasons that are obvious.

Nothing about the conspiracy theory of her doing this out of liberal activism makes even the slightest bit of sense if you think about it logically.

I've seen it said that the internet is so vast that one need never play devil's advocate. Someone who actually believes the worst things will surely come by to advocate for it.

See this is exactly the point, you attribute him as being guilty even though no evidence other than someone's uncorroborated memory and accusation has been offered. Much of America now thinks the same way. Yes, his life has been radically altered by this and only two (three?) people on this planet will ever know if that's based on the truth or not.

When did she first mention Brett Kavanaugh's name.

Sure sounds like the Republicans should have undertaken an investigation and cleared his name, huh.

I wonder why they didn't.

You left out the threats of penalties for perjury.

I feel like that's a convenient omission for your side.

Good point. A professional law enforcement organization should definitely investigate this and try to get some more facts.

When did she first mention Brett Kavanaugh's name.

So in other words as part of this conspiracy she wanted to leave it open to ANY student of a prestigious boys school near to where she grew up who later became a powerful figure in Washington.

Smart of her to keep her options open like that. That's some 4-d chess for sure.
