So just because you don't think he has a chance to win a super bowl you don't think he has the right to play? What if he's just doing it for fun? They have no other quarterbacks besides him this year, and next year they might not be better off. This team has the potential to get good, fast. He can still be a good quarterback and a leader for the young players.

I still don't understand how he becomes irrelevant. People obviously care about what he's doing. The media is all over him, and look, you actually took the time to make this post. Just because the team he retired with wasn't good doesn't mean people will forget about him.

I read your above posts... So he's holding the team down because the team isn't good? Alright then.

Favre is brutally inconsistent - a sign of his age, and a clear sign he should retire imo.

I believe it was career touchdown passes.

It was career completions, I believe.

Sure you didn't throw 27 ints like you did last year, but your team is still not going to go to the post season.

Don't drag out your decision like you did last year, hurting the team in the process by keeping them in limbo for about five months. You have nothing left to prove, you've got your ring, and breaking a couple more records won't mean anything.

Step away while you're still playing at a respectable level, while people still look up to you, and before you become irrelevant. There are two scenarios for next year, in the best case you'll continue to play at a mediocre level, your team wins 6-7 games, whoopee. Or, worse yet, you can keep throwing INTs, cause your team to lose, and sit the rest of the year on the bench. Aaron Rodgers needs a chance to develop himself, or if not him someone else, let them have it.

Um, this sentence alone tells me that you don't know your own ass from a hole in the wall.

Other than that I agree with you. Brett Favre should have retired at least 3 years ago.

Judging by tonight's performance so far, he still has the arm.

124 yards in 18 minutes. Maybe if he wasn't bringing his team down his receivers might not have dropped some passes, too. ;)

He is passing perfect every time, his team mates cant seem to catch it even if it hits them in the chest.

It always amazes me how non-Packer fans are the ones who get so negative about old Brett. Yes, he shouldn't have drug out his decision to play this year as long as he did. Yes, the Packers might be better off in the longer run if Rodgers got some playing time.

But...

Brett is still a very good quarterback -- unfortunately much better than the team he now plays with. Because of his loyalty to the team and fans, he's made it clear he intends to finish his playing days with Green Bay (a virtue that is almost nonexistant in today's football). It's a shame he'll likely finish his career on a low note (in contrast to Elway). As long as he's the best quarterback in Green Bay, I'm happy to see him play.

There isn't a player out there that tries harder than Brett -- or so clearly enjoys playing football as much as Brett.

Aaron Rodgers is not the answer at QB for Green Bay, either. That's part of the reason Favre still is the GB QB. Oh, and the fact that he's still one hell of a good QB.

Spoken like a teenager who grew up in the 90's with a 15 minute attention span. This is the same generation who loves a band for a few months and then hates them.

Fact: Certain players like Mike Vick are surrounded by hype, but are in worse physical shape than Brett Favre.

So is Mike Vick. But people love that sleazeball. He's worse than Brett Favre and not reliable.

I personally hope Favre plays one more year. He's still an above average quarterback and the only thing that gives the packers offense a chance.

It will be a sad day in Wisconsin when he finally does retire.

I do hope he doesn't take as long to decide this year though.

Favre is uncoachable this year. He is hurting the team trying the break the record.

Maybe if he goes ahead and breaks it, he'll start doing what the offensive coordinator tells him to do.....maybe.

I do. Interception returned for a touchdown. Ouch.

A former college coach now has a radio show here. The OC at Green Bay was one of his assistants. Comes on the show occasionally. They talk every week.
The coach now in radio has said this....guess where he's getting the info from?

Where the f*ck has Michael Vick been brought up in this thread?

You should sign up for Sticking with the Topic 101 next quarter.

Since we are mentioning other players though, I'll go ahead and point out that the anti-thesis of Favre would be Jerome Bettis. Here's a guy whose abilities were wearing down, he wasn't the same player he once was, and could've retired as one of the greatest backs in the game. However he hadn't won a ring yet, and he was on a team that had a chance to win it all, and lo and behold they did.

I think he should stick around another year. His team is not very good, and he gives them the best chance to win. Sure you have Rodgers, but he got a chance..and broke his foot :disgust:
He also has motivation with all those records lined up. Call it selfish if you want, but I don't know anyone who would just quit if your that close to the history books. I would also take him in a second over a bunch of starting QBs: Kitna, Brooks, Harrington, Grossman, Smith...

In the WORST case senario he's dead last in the league, but that still makes him on of the top 30 or 40 ANYWHERE. If he wasn't he wouldn't be in there. So saying he sucks is a stupid argument to make unless, of course, your a current or ex- NFL quarterback.
