Retire already. You're old, go spend time with your family while your brain still works. You're holding down your team, you're not taking them to the playoffs if you come back, if your team is going to suck anyway, at least let them build for the future. Sure you didn't throw 27 ints like you did last year, but your team is still not going to go to the post season.

Don't drag out your decision like you did last year, hurting the team in the process by keeping them in limbo for about five months. You have nothing left to prove, you've got your ring, and breaking a couple more records won't mean anything.

Step away while you're still playing at a respectable level, while people still look up to you, and before you become irrelevant. There are two scenarios for next year, in the best case you'll continue to play at a mediocre level, your team wins 6-7 games, whoopee. Or, worse yet, you can keep throwing INTs, cause your team to lose, and sit the rest of the year on the bench. Aaron Rodgers needs a chance to develop himself, or if not him someone else, let them have it.

To be honest, I really don't think that Favre has been the main thing holding back the Packers this year.

Completely agree. He is still an immensely talented and reasonably young QB. He could move to a better team and most likely go to the playoffs. This is coming from a die-hard Vikings fan.

I agree. His actions before the season started were selfish. He kept the team in limbo by not announching if he was going to play or not really fvcking close to training camp. By doing that the Packers gameplan on any free agency potential all revolved around his selfish ass. The Packers could have been aggressive in free agency, but by being in limbo, they couldn't plan accordingly... in addition to draft strategy.. His selfishness changes the whole game plan and strategy for the Packers.

But he doesn't seem to give a $hit. He thinks because he is "Brett Favre" he can pulll those type of stunts.

I wish everyone would quit ragging on him. It's the Media that's making a big deal out of the will he/won't he retire. I was thinking he should retire last year but I think it's obvious now that he made the right decision to come back. He's not holding down his team, that's a stupid thing to say, anyone who says that hasn't been watching football this year. His team is much better off with him. The packers are a last-place team, but with Favre they're close to .500.

I might agree that Favre is the best choice for winning this year, but essentially there are two choices for a team. You can either play to win it all, or you can rebuild. If you're not even going to make it to the playoffs, you should be in rebuilding mode, plan for the future..and that starts with the most position on the team--QB.

That's one of the reasons I thought he should retire after last year, to give Aaron Rodgers a year to get comfortable with NFL play and have it be a rebuilding year like you said. Plus they hired this Coach who had a pretty bad resume for some reason. Though last year Favre was terrible, and it would of been bad to end his career like that, luckily he came back and had a pretty good year.

He has earned the right to decide when he will leave the game. If he wants to come back and pursue a few more records he can do it. All this BS about him holding the Packers back is just that BS. If they wanted to be more active in the free agent market they could have. Any goof could have looked at their roster before the season and seen that they needed help on the offensive line....well any goof except Ted Thompson.

"I come through on Monday night's better than Brett Farve, when he's down 7 at the top of the 4th.."

Just doesn't hold true anymore. Throw that pick Farve, throw it.

So he didn't beat Marino's record? I thought I heard on the radio earlier this week that he beat one of Marino's passing records (I forget which one... completions maybe?).

Do you think he throws those picks because he's lost his ability? No. He throws those picks because he doesn't have the team he used to. Brett would rather throw a 70 yard pass into quadruple coverage than give up and play to lose.

OP - How can you possibly state that Brett Favre will become "irrelevant" if he doesn't go out with a bang. Has Dan Marino become irrelevant?

I shouldn't even bother... but I have to ask, how is he holding down the team? And why do you believe the Packers won't be a better team next year? I have a feeling you haven't heard much more than an ESPN report or two on the Packers situation.

edit: he surpassed Marino's completion record, not TD (needs 8 more TDs)

It was completions, he's still short of TD passes.

I thought he should have retired after last year. BUt now that he came back, I hope he stays on for one more year to see how they can improve with all the young players.

All the more reason to retire. Guys prlong their careers when they haven't won the big one, and/or feel like they still have a chance to do so--a la Karl Malone/John Stockton. Brett is in neither of those categories.

Brett would rather throw a 70 yard pass into quadruple coverage than give up and play to lose.

If he drags his decision on further along, decides to come back, people simply won't care anymore about what he does anymore than David Carr.

I shouldn't even bother... but I have to ask, how is he holding down the team?

Read my posts above.
