I have no hands on experience w/ HD but I read and learn a lot. If you want acceptable looking DVDs on an HD capable monitor of any sort (even the 2405, which is HD capable)you've got to up-convert the signal to more closely match the res. you're running your display at.

I have a 30" crt HDTV and DVD pictures look great on it. It doesn't look blown up.
I can't say the same for the 2405. Pictures look blown up to fill the screen.

I played the Need for speed Underground 2 on it last night, and i cannot tell you how beautifull it looked on this monitor with resolution at 1280X1024. I cannot go above this because of my 9800Pro it will starting to slow the game a little bit at 1900x1200, but any ways no lack of response time or what ever. Every detail was crisp and clear, i will also check the DVD movies on it and let you guys know.

They have that same dvd player at costco for $99.00 Im too lazy to link right now.

Its funny you guys are all blaming your lousy sources as a fault to this monitor, Its super high res, that means anything low res will be small or if you blow it up. will look blown up.

My 480P dvds look ok when i hoook up my philips dvd player, but they look amazing when i hook up my Denon 3800 dvd player.

This monitor is amazing..

Well, a big part of it is the lousy sources, but when compared to other HD-capable displays I've tried (a DLP projector and plasma tv), lousy sources look... well, lousier. :p Dunno why.

Eek, good luck with the exchange, I listened for the noise this morning when my computer was off, when switching sources theres a slight sound but when the monitor starts receiving a signal (i turned on the HD cable Box) the noise went away. It's nothing high pitched or abnormal so if your sound is truly bugging you then you should change it. Other than that no problems with my monitor and your gamma settings were easy on my eyes as well. Keep us posted on your exchange!

I emailed this guy last night and he replied me this morning saying that he was preparing a quote for me.
Another guy named Jonathan Swanson called me about 10 minutes ago (1:30pm) confirming the order.
I've already received the confirmation email for $860 + tax and free shipping.

Has anyone tried playing with the DPI on your graphics cards settings. I was reading on apples website about their LCD displays and they say that 100ppi is the perfect resolution for image and words.

Also i was looking under general display properies and noticed you can change the DPI. It is by default set to 96. I Changed to to 100dpi and it looks pretty good. Are these two things the same?

i thought dpi and ppi only depended on your resolution and monitor size.

OH yeah for all of you with bad video cards wondering how this looks at different resolutions: THe newest Nvidia drivers have a featuer where you decide how your monitior displays lower resolutions, so you can set any resolution you want thats smaller than 1920x1200 and it just centers it in the middle of your screen, 1:1 pixels so there is no stretching and no scaling, and everything looks beautiful

Which means 3D gaming at any resolution = perfect (it just wont fill the whole screen)

Thanks. The odd thing is that I only get the noise when there is some sort of signal being fed to the mintor (when the display led # is green). Otherwise, it goes into power-save mode and it silent. Hope you're enjoying it. :)

Stupid question - but does the auto-adjust feature for this monitor NOT work when using DVI? Whenever I hit the button, it does nothing :(

Wow... this monitor is almost as good as my 21" CRT monitor. After adjusting things around I can't believe that this is an LCD because it seems to be as good as a CRT.

I tested others with 16ms response time and when gaming it sucked big time. But this 2405 rocks.

I'm having problems getting an image on my 2405. I see colors but that's about it. I hit the menu button but i can't see the menu just some lines on the screen. Is there a way to "reset" the unit by pressing a combination of buttons on the front of the screen?

Thanks.

Wow, I almost orgasmed when I loaded the microsolf HD demos. This is the best 903 USD I've ever spent. Just another ++ in the crowd of 24" praise :) No issues what so ever.
