I'm in Houston, TX
I don't know where they ship the monitors from, but if they are shipping them out from Austin, TX, I'm expecting my monitor in a couple of days or less.

Machintos,

Where are you located? I'm starting to get so upset b/c I ordered March 11 and it's still in production. What happened to waiting in line? I just don't get why Dell is so random with what ships when. I have no monitor right now b/c I just returned a 2005fpw that I recently bought in favor of this 2405 fpw.

What about you Bay Area folks? Anyone ordering on the 11th get a "shipped" order status yet?

I emailed jonathan and he says he can't do anything below 1199, so either the deal is dead or he is out of coupons... Damn, I really wanted to get in on this...

Thanks Machintos,

I don't feel quite so bad now b/c I have read that the Texas folks seemed to get their monitors super fast. One guy *claims* he ordered 3pm, got his 10 am the next morning, without ordering overnight shipping. Even not believing that, a lot of Texas residents have gotten theirs shipped the next day after ordering, and delivery a day or two after.

It took 10 days for mine to reach me in Utah. I thought I was going to die when someone in Hawaii that ordered the same day as me got it in 3 days.

Hi. New to this forum but it looks great. I'm interested in the 2405 at a discount price. Who can I contact at Dell for the best pricing?

Also I have a NVidia GrForce2 Ti AGP 4X. Is this going to work with the FP at max resolution? Thinking about upgrading video card to a X800 AIW, but am concerned that the AGP at 4x may not be enough. Not a gamer but a trader and may play around with HDTV.

This was what I feared when I ordered my 2001FP.
It arrived in perfect condition, and though I really would like this monitor,
I think I'll just keep the one I got, since I know it's awesome.

If I keep reading about these, though, I may end up getting another 2001FP to compensate.

I think a future Dell 27" or 30" LCD should be around the corner.

This will be THE size to get.

If you've ever visited the Apple Store and compared the 23" to the 30", it is NIGHT AND DAY! No comparison!

Plus, today's cards are not up to snuff with these new size screens. It's better to wait for the next batch of video cards that will easily be able to run 3D at these high resolutions (plus with Dual DVI capabilities for 25"+). By then, the prices on all these large size LCDs should come down in price.

In other words, it's better to wait for those who take their gaming seriously.

If there's anything I hate, it's an unserious gamer.
and why have you ruled out projectors?
talk about night and day difference!

I concur. 24" is neither here nor there. Serious TV viewing starts at 30"+ for any kind of visual impact, especially HDTV. Gaming will also be impressive at this size. Very few other everyday apps currently on offer require so much monitor real-estate.

You'd be better off plunking less than $500 for a 20" monitor and wait for the 30 incher.

Funny, and when the 30" comes out, someone will say that the 36" is THE size to get. You'd be better off getting the 24" now, and getting the 30" when it comes out - that's the way I see it :)

I agree. Get the 24" now, and when the 30" is on your desk Ebay the old one. LCD monitors seem to hold their price great for secondhand sale.

See you need to look at the technology. Get the 24" now.

1) it is an widescreen HD monitor, which all monitors will become eventually so very future ready

2) Is the largest resolution you can push with current dvi cables ( so unless they change all the graphic cards and monitors to HDMI soon (or dual link dvi) this is the highest res you will be able to get out of your computer )

3) This is a little over 100ppi if you go any bigger screen size with the current resolution it will just be too big.

4) any bigger and you will have to sit further back for computing and vidoe games, the 24" is already HUGE playing video games at a normal distance

All I am saying is that 24" is not that great a step-up from a 20" as is a 30" LCD monitor. If you gotta have the latest and greatest now, by all means go for it. But you're not missing much visual impact-wise if you go for the 20" (which is below $500 now) and wait for the 30" to be available.

Can someone PM me the info on how to do this? I know I'm a little late, but it's worth a shot. Thanks!

Sure it is. This 24" can show 1080i natively. This 24" is a widescreen monitor. Your hypothetical 30" LCD could easily be neither of those.

Right now the 2405FPW an ideal display for both HDTV and DVD viewing -- it's a huge improvement over the 2001FP introduced a year and half ago.

When I called up Andy to ask about ordering another one he said they cannot sell it below $1079 now. It has been bumped up to $925 but then apparently went way up over that. Oh well.
