Eh, ok, since I don't need the damn thing I just skimmed the OP's post and didn't bother going to staples.com. That said, I am very surprised their system doesn't check for the actual shipping address.

Actually though, since staples will pricematch themselves anyways, I don't really think it's an issue. Then again, that's just my opinion.
 
well i fianlly got an email from them, seems to be working, took a night to get the email so all those that are still waiting, have some hope. supposed to be delivered on thursday of this week

BTW If staples does not like the "Bottom Line" price they are selling the drives for, they will cancel the order. They do have protections built in under "Terms and Conditons"
 
Ordered a few, all are processing with a delivery date of 3/24. Cool.

I don't even think you can do that since you have to enter a ship to zip when you check out. And WTF is with the attitude? Oh yes, everybody in this thread is a damn theif. :roll:

I entered my zipcode (that means I did not lie) and it comes to $99.94

Goto the store and tear off the price sticker and swITch it with a cheaper sticker. Guess that is ok too.


there's nothing wrong with browsing the weekly ads of any staples store, that is when the system asks for your zipcode and stores it in a cookie. Only later you place the order with you're actual ddress, so I'd say it's up to the system to decide if you can get the sales price from the zipcode you browsed or not. Appearantly it does preserve the browsed sales price, which could be a mistake or not. But we did not lie, steal or cheat, at most we took advantage of a pricing error, and that's up to the store to fix or honor. There is nothing wrong with taking advantage of a pricing error, as this is what many hot deals are all about.

This thread has gone south for the winter.

I was poking fun at the guy that thought that any of the frequent veiwers of Hot Deals would take advantage of a retail store by buying some product at rediculously low prices by any means possible. Even if it meant we would accidentally put in a wrong zip code. I mean we are a bunch of respectable people that would never stoop to such low ball techniques. If I thought i was guilty of such behavior I would go and turn myself in and beg Staples for forgiveness.

Ill bet my spelling/grammar is bad too as I usually dont put this many words in a post😀
 
A few people have had theirs cancelled, mine is still processing and is expected to ship by tomorrow. I hope it works 🙂

Same here. I thought it would be an iffy deal anyways.
 
My EMail has a delivery date of tommorrow.

Dont hate me, it also says they are coming by UPS which probably means either I wont get them or they will be so damaged by mishandling that they wont work.

Anybody gets theirs delivered, let us know.

maybe one guy had a canellation, and few people had zipcode mismatch error. I think this happens if you don't follow the instructions and clear all your old staples cookies before searching for the product.


And btw, a lot of people had theirs already shipped (confirmed by sales reps). Appearantly the order status screen is not updated frequently, maybe only at end of day. So this deal is still looking promising. And btw, I've got both maxtors and seagates 160GB and maxtor is noticeably faster (verified by benchmarking program), but louder.

$90 for two, so ~$45/each (if you factor in tax).

I dunno, but to me this doesn't strike me as hot. I remember seeing this week at BB, 160gb for 39.99 after rebates. Yes i know you guys hate rebates so I guess the fact that having no rebates alone makes it hot.
 
I called Staples (whose phone support is open 24/7 btw) and was told that my order had shipped and would arrive tomorrow via UPS. The number to call them at is 1-800-3STAPLE. All you need to confirm your order is the order number.

My order was placed at ~3:30PM 3/20/05.

This means the deal is legit and they are not cancelling orders for no reason other than too many orders were placed and the item is now out of stock.
