Go back and add ground service to your account. I don't know how fast this process is. I just did it and got the message that my request was being processed.
Hopefully it will be in effect when Dell calls FedEx to pick up the computer.

If you didn't sign up for ground service, it will probably be shipped via FedEx 2 day, not overnight (Express). That's what happened to a guy on fw. Signing up doesn't limit the account to only Express delivery, FedEx 2 day and FedEx Saver also work without signing up for ground service.

From TN to CA, the FedEx rate calculator showed $82 for insured shipping using FedEx 2 day (40 lbs, 22x22x16 box, $1000 insurance). Ground shipping for the same package/destination costs $22.

Thanks for looking that up. At least $82 is still less than $90 if it doesn't go ground.

i just put my request in with fedex to have ground delivery too, it's nice how it doesn't tell you that on the sign up page, i'd recommend anyone who used fedex do the same, who knows how much express delivery will be

How do you put the request for FedEx ground? Can you put the link please?
Thanks.......

To see if your FedEx account is activated for FEDEX GROUND, go to MyFedex and go to the page for
shipping an item...If the pulldown that shows the options for shipping doesn't include Fedex ground, you
didn't activate it. If it DOES show Fedex ground, you are OK.

Has anyone verified that they have a package shipped with tracking info (past "in transit" status) with FedEx Ground? My order is in transit, but it doesn't have a tracking number yet and my FedEx ship history doesn't show it yet. I've read messages by at least 2 people who chose FedEx ground, but had thier systems sent via 2 day. I'm thinking they probably didn't have ground shipping set up on their account.

I'm not too clear on how billing the recipient using FedEx Ground works. The FAQs at FedEx don't really spell out that situation for ground, only Express. Dell Public site CSR center is closed today (1-888-973-3355), so I'll call tomorrow to verify.

On my Dell orders, for shipping METHOD, I entered "Fedex GROUND", which some people say
gets truncated by the system to the first word, "Fedex". Certainly, I never saw the word ground
again during the confirmation stages...HOWEVER, I called Dell to rectify the situation and the CSR
told me, after she check (and that was a LONG wait), that my shipments were going Fedex GROUND.
So either the second word just doesn't show on the Dell site after you enter it, or else they use Fedex
GROUND if you account is Fedex GROUND enabled.

I know that Fedex Ground is effectively a separate company under the Fedex umbrella, but the way
they have it organized SUCKS. (You have to enable it separately...I do not expect most people would
know that unless they navigated the Fedex site for a while).

Damn Dell! I entered Fedex ground and my fedex account has ground service. I even called up dell and inquiry about the truncated "Fedex" and was told it would be shipped out by Ground and the CSR said she was going to put a note in my order to make sure.

But this morning I received fedex insight alert and Dell shipped my pc by Fedex 2nd. I'll have to pay probably $100 more than ground. Any suggestions how I can dispute with Dell?

I am assuming that Dell is closed today. Want to call them and make sure that my order goes out Fedex Ground/Home. On a side note, what are all of you going to use this PC for. I already have a computer and besides the CPU everything else is a little faster so I am not sure which one I will keep.

Mine was picked up Wednesday and I just confirmed it shipped via FedEx 2-day, despite all my efforts to make sure ground was selected. If your status says "In Transit" and you shipped via FedEx, you can track your shipment since it probably already shipped. You can use the alternate reference tracking. https://www.fedex.com/us/tracking/?link=4 (cut'n'paste it... this board messes up the https:// type links) type in your FedEx account number and your dell order number. Try the first and 3rd options first.

It looks like no matter what you're told or what you selected when you chose ground shipping method (i.e. not "FedEx Ground", just "ground"), it's going via 2 day FedEx. The cost for me is $82 for 2-day instead of the $22 ground I expected and requested. If there is a silver lining in all this, it's that I'll probably have the system tomorrow and I can get a jump on sending in the rebates. And a smaller consolation is that $82 < $90.

If you're closer to Nashville than I am (California), your shipping charge will be less for 2 day. You can check with the rate calculator on FedEx's site.

The overstuffed billfold place has people reporting that UPS ground worked fine, though.

Has anyone else not received their confirmation email? I order on the 26th at about 8PM EST but I haven't received anything yet.

I called up sale and they said there was a large influx of orders so it may take longer than 24 hours.

I got the system today. FedEx 2day it was.

Radeon 9700 TX 128MB info:
The card has Infineon 3.6ns BGA chips on it (555MHz rated). The core is not the latest stepping, so I think these are just the regular Radeon 9700s with AGP8X problems (pretty minor, actually) that ATi is dumping for cheap. I'll be making a thread at [ H ] video card forums later today with several pics. I took the heatsink off and cleaned up the thermal pad goop and replaced it with AS3.

Also, the system does have 4 RIMM sockets, 2 are occupied with 128MB PC1066 RDRAM RIMMs and 2 are occupied with terminators.

Phuck I am PISSSED....... I put in my order completely correctly, I DESELECTED the ram upgrade to make sure that I would qualify for the rebate, AND I got in on time by a couple of minutes.
So get this, even though I selected "update order" and made sure all was good, when I get my order confirmation a half hour later, it says that they gave me the RAM upgrade, and they even gave me a modem...which I specifically did not order! So I call them, they're closed, so I email them to change it ASAP. I figure, it's only been a half hour since I placed my order, why wouldnt they let me change it? I dont get an email back from them until Friday, when they tell me that the will not do it, and they if I want to change the order, then I must cancel and reorder. I call them up, politely explain that their system made an error, and the CSR I speak to becomes VERY indigant and hostile. So I say "I'm just trying to explain to you what happened, why are you being so hostile towards me?" She freaks out "IM NOT BEING HOSTILE" and <click>.... dang... I've never met this person, but it was almost like talking to an x-girlfreind or something. I've never been treated this way by Dell, and I'm pretty irritated about the whole thing. I called back, and the CSR's magically can't figure out who it was that I talked to and their manager wont be back until Monday. I'm a pretty level headed guy though, so I just calmly explain to the next person what happened in regards to my order. They tell me that it can't be done, but at least in a politer way. The second lady I spoke to encouraged me to keep the order since I still qualified for several other rebates, but it's all or nothing for me. I just went ahead and canceled. I'm horribly dissapointed with Dell's customer service at this point, and it seems like too huge of a coincidence that the order was *magically* altered in such a way that I lost out on rebates, and that there is noooo way to fix the order without causing me to loose out on the other ones. Coincidence???? They knew exactly what deal I was referring to, this was no accident. The worst part is that I got my hopes up, and I actually thought that I was going to make it on this deal since I had submitted my order 3 minutes before midnight.

Another FedEx update!

From the discusion over at big billfold I have learned what to do to get Dell to ship (hopefully)
FedEx ground.

FedEx is currently updating all the old seven digit ground accounts to nine digits, but some stores think that only
Air ship accounts have nine digits.

First, call FedEx and ask for a SEVEN digit ground ship account number (The lady I talked to, Margaret, was very nice about it!)
Then call Dell and give it to them. When I called Dell, the lady there (Patricia) was also very nice, if not harried.
She took the SEVEN digit number and my contact info and told me that if they needed anything else, they would
call me on Monday. The person who is supposed to handle this will be in then. She was optimistic that this would
take care of the problem. I'll call them back Monday to confirm.

Margaret at FedEx explained that it might be necessary for ME to ask for a call tag a day ahead of time to have the package picked up.
She had just talked to someone else about this and had given him a rate of $14 to ship and $10 for the call tag on a
50 lb. box. (I didn't ask where it was shipping to).

It appears that if you do nothing, Dell will ship FedEx air, and there have been different reports. Some people had overnight
delivery and some had 2 or 3 day air delivery.

Mine is supposed to ship on 12/4, hopefully I can catch it in timel

GT, did you type in ground or FedEx ground

Those of you that are getting the notices of shipment did the email say you would receive your system within 1-5 business days due to your shipping election?

Mine wasn't supposed to ship until the 5th? Showing in transit to local carrier.

So has anyone come up with a fool proof procedure to get them to ship FedEx Ground?? I signed up for the fedex account, but don't really want to end up paying $150 for shipping if that is the default. I already went to the fedex site and added ground shipping to my account and specified FedEx Ground on my order.
