I didn't see anything about free software. I completed the survey and loaded the software on an old laptop. Am I out of look on getting Office Ultimate?

Somehow I was not able to get an email back while using Firefox.
Used IE and the email came almost instantly to my gmail account.

Thanks! Signed up for Vista.

Signed up and installed. I see two new processes, both fairly small footprint. We'll see how it goes... thanks op!

Have they changed the terms of this, because I didn't get a choice of what software I'd want for signing up.....

Is this dead because I went through the whole thing and got to the download screen but there has never been a way to choose free software and stuff.

Same here, I never got asked about software to choose from. If I dont get a gift, is there any info on deleting it, can I use restore?

I went back there and there is NO mention of any software.

Wow! I can't believe I made this... Signed up at ~1:30 pm CST. Looks like it died around 5:30 CST. Lucky! I had to sign up for a Hotmail account to do it, though. I almost waited until later, because I don't want my email to be something I rarely check. Good thing I caved!

I chose Vista Ultimate. I probably should have chosen Office, but I'm sure Vista will be almost as good.

I sure hope this works. I did a fresh install of XP right before I signed up. So, hopefully I won't have any issues in the next three months that will require a re-install.

Bah, was gonna sign up for another on my main Vista install.

Anyways, the option to choose which gift was the first screen after clicking the e-mail confirmation I believe....before you started the survey. Wonder if the gift portion is completely dead or if they just randomly send you 1 of the 5. 40% to get something decent is still pretty good I suppose (Vista/Office).

You can uninstall the monitoring panel at any time via control panel > add/remove programs etc.

Edit: I sent them an email to try and confirm that people that signed up before the deadline will still get their software, and this was in the automated answer:

What happened to the free product option?

Thank you for your interest in the feedback program. Due to overwhelming response, the supply of gifts has been exhausted so we have closed our free product offer on 12/11/2007 at 2pm Pacific Time. Thanks to everyone that participated!

I believe you will get to choose when the three months is over.

Or by double clicking on the same setup.exe you downloaded from microsoft.com will bring up an remove and repair option.

on the "More about the program" page, it had a section about your free program right before the "performance impact" section (I printed every page when I signed up)

Does anyone know if there is any "status" page somewhere to confirm that you are going to get the free software? I don;t want M$ to claim I signed up too late or anything like that.

No, it still looks good.
