funny that list says it has VIVO but clicking on the X800XL to get to the specific X800XL page says it only has TV-out. Would have been nice to get VIVO as well....
Which is exactly why I was interested in seeing a confirmation on the warranty on this exact retail part.. I'll assume it's 2 years although from the link that Hero posted they only show the X800XL w/VIVO model.

I bit on this cause my GeForce 3 started having artifacts yesterday, and my 64 bit system has been sitting on the floor as a table.
The average price for an x800XL PCI-e on Monarch is $324.50. There are 4 to choose from 1 of which is OEM the rest are retail, made by Powercolor, Connect3d, and Asus (too expensive).
The average price for a 6800 GT PCI-e on Monarch is $395.50. There are 5 to choose from all of which are retail and are made by Leadtek, eVGA, XFX, BFG, and Asus (too expensive).
Personally I spent the extra $30 above the average to get a $350 eVGA 6800 GT at ZZF. Not only is it shipped in 2 days free, but it's a faster card with more features and most importantly, from what I consider a MUCH more reliable manufacturer than Connect3d... not to mention it is actually bundled with a few games. eVGA also has the 90-day step-up program that will allow me to upgrade to an Ultra for $100 w/in the next 3 months.

2) Why the hell are you comparing the cheapest 6800GT you could find to the average price of X800XL (which is $75 more then this deal) ? average price is not relevant here
3) eVGA is known to be a cheap brand and they only give 1 year warranty. Connect3D at least have been around for a lot longer, and give 2 years warranty.
4) Contrary to what you say, the eVGA 6800GT comes with no bundled games, or extra software whatosoever.
5) Also contrary to what you say, the step up program requires you to pay the difference between your original price (e.g. $360) and the MSRP of the new card (e.g. $500 for 6800U), so you'll have to pay $140, not $100. In fact, since you have to pay MSRP for the Ultra, it will erase any savings or discounts you got when buying the GT. btw, the step up program is just a gimmick and is mostly worthless now, it only made sense when it was hard to find the high end cards.

oh crap I just woke up to realize that my system that I am building doesn't have a pci-e slot. Now I need to get a good socket 754 mobo with pci-e, any suggestions?

Isn't the whole point of sm 3.0 to make games that support it get a performance boost? I didn't think it afected image quality.

It's actually both or either.
Also, in the latest issue of PC Gamer, they highlight Prey and Duke Nukem Forever both of which will be using the Doom 3 engine. Quake 4 will as well. So, even aside from SM3 there are other major pros to a 6 series card.
*sigh* First of all, please keep the personal comments (MORON) of out the discussion.

2. That is not the cheapest 6800 GT I could find, it is not even the cheapest 6800 GT at ZZF... and I'm comparing it to the AVERAGE cost because that's the only fair comparison you can make. The point is you can get a GT for $20 under the average retail from a REPUTABLE manufacturer, and is still only $30 over the average retail for the x800XLs which are all from less preferable manufacturers. You can't compare an eVGA GT directly to a Connect3d x800XL, they are totally different companies and will not only build different quality cards, but provide different quality service. Like I metioned earlier, a fair comparison is the MSI x800XL to the MSI 6800 GT... the price difference is actually only $30 and the x800XL is $20 above MSRP while the 6800 GT is only $9 above MSRP.
3. Despite your speculation I have actually OWNED an eVGA 6800 and I KNOW they are a VERY good company to deal with, and I think if you ran a poll you'd see that most people would agree and would always put them ahead of Connect3d. ALSO, both companies have been around since 2003, and eVGA offers a 1+1 warranty, meaning 2 years, not 1, as long as you register, which you should anyway.
4. It comes with Far Cry (zzf does not specify)
5. What do you mean the step up program is a gimmick? What's the alternative when upgrading your card? Selling your card for a LOSS, then turning around and paying full retail for the Ultra, which at this point, is usually slightly OVER MSRP.
Tell me something, have you actually ever dealt with either of these manufacturers directly?

yeah this is an awesome deal and the bang for the buck value is much(MUCH) better than a 6800gt. average prices mean nothing, thats why there is this forum(its called hot deals).
$360 for 6800GT pci-e is the cheapest I've ever seen it. It is still $110 more expensive than the X800XL in this deal. Connect3d is at least as reputable a manufacturer as EVGA, and its warranty is only 2 years compared to 1 year on the EVGA. The step up program is only within the first 90 days if you don't know, it's designed for clueless people that change their mind soon after purchasing the card, and it takes away any saving you got on the original card, as you have to pay the difference to full MSRP.

If the x800xl is so far below the average... this just makes this deal EVEN HOTTER. This isn't a discussion about how good the card is, just the deal... so obviously, the x800xl is the better deal. Go home.
Sure are. Mind you, they hold a $50 premium in terms of MSRP over the pci-e versions, since they are natively pci-e. I except this to decrease in the future, however, here is an example.
