Anyone know the speed of the included media?? I was able to burn only at 1x...I just bought some memorex and I am hoping that this is 2x.

Also, I burned a data dvd...my burner reads it fine but my IBM laptop with a DVD drive can't read it. Burned with Nero Express. Any Ideas??

 
I got a new email from OfficeMax today with my tracking number, so it looks like I will soon be a DVD-burning mofo. For media, I just now placed an order for a 100-pack of Ritek at SuperMediaStore.

Just a reply to myself, in case anyone is interested. I got my media in from SuperMediaStore today. The blanks are silver on top, purple on the bottom, and were packaged as four 25-piece spindles. There is no speed rating listed on the media packaging. Using the hacked 1.33 firmware for the Pioneer DVR-104, I burned two of these tonight at 2x speed. I enabled the verify data feature in Nero Express, and both burns passed the test.

I just checked, and the price for 100 pieces of Ritek media has dropped to $83 plus shipping at SuperMediaStore. With shipping charges, these will cost around 90 cents apiece.

Don't really mean to be bumping an old thread but OM finally delivered my drive today. Ordered it on 10/25 and delivered on 12/5. So much for next day delivery. Anyway the drive turns out to be a 4x Pioneer DVR-105 as opposed to a 2x which I ordered. Not sure how the rebate is going to work as the original rebate form states to postmark within 15 days of purchase. Will probably have to visit OM tomorrow to see if they will fix it or else I'll probably return it.
 
Has anyone tried to submit the rebate for the Cendyne 2x drive with the Cendyne 4x drive? I ended up getting the Cendyne 4x (Pioneer DVR-105) as well and the sku and model number are wrong for the rebate. Without the $50 rebate, it would be a warm deal, but with the rebate it would be a nice deal.

Ok.. Here's what to do if you got a substitution for the dvd burner. I just got off the phone with a rebateshq csr and he told me to write a note and submit it along with the rebate info. Tell them that you purchased the 2x Cendyne dvd burner and Officemax substituted it with this 4x drive (how lousy of them. 😉 ). The rebateshq CSR assured me that it would not be a problem and that if it was, to call them back.

A similar thing like this has happened before. I called with a question prior to submitting my rebate. When my rebate turned up invalid, I called rebateshq and told them that one of their CSR's told me that it would be ok to submit the rebate, they then went ahead and changed the invalid status to "processing". In my experience, I've found that rebateshq is very lenient in validating rebates if you explain to them that you spoke with a rebateshq csr prior to submitting the rebate and that's what they told you to do.

Never mind. This is an old deal. I ran a search and this is a very similar deal to the late December and early January deal that I'm doing right now. I wonder why I can't pull up the more recent deal on a search for "Cendyne".

Anyway.. The newer rebate for the deal that I'm doing includes the 4x drive, so there is no need to include any sort of note. It was nice that I was able to get the 4x drive for the price of the 2x drive though.
