lol thats definitely my DayZ theme song. Although, the next server I hop on, its right outside of Cherno. I find an axe right away, so I head into the city. I hear these guys talking in the cafe. So I'm holding back, waiting for them to leave so I can get a basic gun or something, and they kill this guy and start laughing. So I'm like bleep these murdering scumbags, and rush in there. They were so busy looking at the dead guys stuff that they didnt notice me chopping their heads off. So now I got M4 with ACOG, big ass back pack, G17, 5 clips for each, gps, map, matches...the works. I knew they'd come for my ass, and I got so nervous I crept out of town, got into the woods, and logged off! I win, so I think I am done playing. I would rather let my character starve to death by not playing than give up my spoils.

Haha good stuff

I died, so I opted to play around a little differently ... just ran through electro grabbing everything, I am pretty much stocked up with every toobelt item needed, and a handgun with 32 rounds of ammo...time to find myself a rifle!

Anyone else notice that the game is reallly buggy visually? Me and my brother were both getting huge triangles, and blank screens in certain areas.

That's my strategy as well. Even when playing on highly populated servers, I rarely come across anyone, and usually when I do they are as poorly geared as I am. I've had a couple deathmatches with hatchets, and I've definitely put a hatchet to the back of an unsuspecting survivor taking my loot!

I've noticed the graphical glitches are the worst around any airfield (for whatever reason), and are usually during times when the sun is rising or setting. Sometimes a "flush" command works, and other times it doesn't.

Trying to play with other people will only get you killed, either directly by them, or because there's always a Leroy Jenkins in the group who get's everyone murdered by 27 zeds. I gave up on survivors after a few dozen deaths. Now I just wait outside Cherno, or drive a bus somewhere and wait for others to try and come grab it. I also like to find a group and follow them around, wait for them to go into a building, then aggro a horde of zeds and run through the building. The panic on the mic is priceless, and a good chuck of town is now free of zeds.

Honestly, I think the zeds aggro too easily and from too far away. You used to be able to crouch walk or slow walk pretty close to zeds, and ditch them easier by cutting through buildings. Now when they group aggro, zeds will cover other entrances to buildings and cut you off. You have to make sure to get them all behind you in a big line. Sometimes you have run all the way to the ocean and swim for it to ditch them. Hope you have antibiotics!

They also need to fix broken bones and that graphics glitching that started up in the last beta release. The devs know all this though. They are working on this game as a stand-alone, so be prepared to buy it again.

I logged in last night for the first time in 2 months or so.

What the hell happened??

It was brutally unforgiving the last time I played. Last night, I was running through towns and cities and never had more than one zombie chasing me. Shoot a zombie on a city street with a shotgun and no more showed up! Every zombie I killed was carrying ammo or food.

It was on one of the same Chicago servers that I used to use.

Is this how it is now?

An update broke zombie hearing. It's fixed. Fire a gun anywhere near a group of them and see what happens.

Just find a barn or decent sized building and make sure they all get in and leave. Or even easier, find a pine tree and run into it and stand as close to the trunk as you can. They won't be able to hit you and will wander back off. I just run through towns aimlessly, zeds are pretty easy to lose so I don't even worry about it.

Anyone want to play? I've got full gear (literally everything I could want), so you can have anything we loot.

I'm by the NW airfield (got teleported there by a hacker)

I heard someone shooting, investigated and killed 5 survivors :D

poor group, never saw me coming.

I saw a chopper too! I tried shooting it down, no luck.

I've got 4 servers, all in Chicago, 2 with GMT -6, and 2 with GMT + 8...I hate night, haha.

I also had about 8 or so zeds chasing me, and saw a guy prone crawling everywhere, ran on top of him, ran in a circle, came back and killed him, grabbed his gear, and kept on running, LOL.

On the other end of things, I was with my buddy, along the ocean front, and we heard shots, really far off, could not see a soul....he gets knocked out, then killed, I hide, log out...we were confused.

I started from scratch last night, and ended up wandering off of the map into an area with no trees. I think if I ever get to a point of having a camp I am going to put it out there. Also a few minutes later I died as my legs were broke crawling though a door.

mhuhahahahahahaha On a fresh life I headed into Cherno to get some matches, maybe a compass and decent pack. I covered a quarter of the city, just sticking to the outskirts, and the best thing I found was a Markarov. I was getting graphic anomalies, so it was hard just to see. I figure screw it and just ran to a fire station, hoping I could see good enough to make it there. I got stuck a couple of times and the zombies slapped me around a bit, but I finally made it. Slim pickings though, until the last level when I find an M24 and 2 clips. So I'm minding my own business when this guy runs in with a pack of zombies on him. He had an AK, Alice pack, etc, so I wasnt going to mess with him. So I'm peeking down the stairs about to say friendly and he unloads on me with an AK, but mostly misses and does minimal damage. So I do the lean thing and return fire with a Markarov. All while zombies are coming up the stairs. So I peak down again and he was prone and trying to reposition himself for a better angle on the stairs. Of course I unload another clip and take him out. So I take his alice pack, all the toolbelt items like compass, map, matches, ladder glitched to the roof and made my escape. A quick stop at the store to fill my pack then of course I ran into the woods and logged off. I left his AK and ammo in case he can make it back. Kind of a thank you for the pack and all the goodies!

Funny, but I died 3 times today in BFE trying to avoid the cities, but every time I go into a major one I strike gold. Last time I was in Cherno, I broke my leg falling off the construction site, and crawled throughout the city to get medical supplies, and I got out without a scratch. Aside from the initial broken leg. Strange, but I actually feel safer in the cities now. The lines of sight and aggressiveness of zombies outside of the city are ridiculous.

What is the ladder glitch? Do you just try to get on the ladder through the window in the tower?

I logged out in a firestation on cherno yesterday because I had to go somewhere and I logged into a different server today. I found I was trapped inside with barbed wire all around. I had just died from a sniper trap so all I had was a crowbar, food and some matches I got from the general store. There's some guy in a ghili suit up there who unloads a whole 1911 magazine my way, mostly missing and doing minimal damage. I drop back down and bandage up and stare up the stairs for a bit. I figure I'll probably die since all I have is a crowbar but its not like I'm risking anything so I charged the stairs. He was gone. I figured he logged out like a huge pussy, terrified of the guy with a crowbar that actually knew he was there but maybe he glitched out on the ladder though. I doubt it because I hung around for a long time and never saw him again.

Regardless the asshole had a tent setup in the downstairs loaded with junk so I got a few choice items and a decent starting weapon.

started playing aug.02, [watched ton's of you tube and played some single player ARMA II]
my longest life so far is about 16 hrs , it ended like this:

it went down hill going into the deer towers at balota with a m9 - first gun with 4 clips of ammo ever [see that they were nerffed]
from the air field hardly any loot , m9 came from a body out side the towers
-ran out of ammo[one clip per zed] ,had to push 1 zed off the ladder by hand lol.
-got a ak47 second tower [lost axe] + one clip in the last tower but low on blood

-rest of the town had good loot [+ 45 & 18rds]but no food .only missing a axe and food \ ak47 ammo [did not know it defaults to full auto after a weapon change]]
-had to leave as the server after it dropped my fps to 11fps and I could not fix.

-next day log in , see a goat and no zed's in eye sight in the wide open field .kill it with the new 45 ,get over run with zeds,
now down to 6000 blood and no meat and running for my life.

-headed north to hit the farms for food \ammo - get to bor no live stock\food\ammo any where ,so I start passing out now down to 500 blood [zed conflicts+ food blinking red ].
-make it back to balota , in the first field is a goat and by this time I only had a axe -kills goat when I'm not passed out[it did not run]
-finally cook the meat[chopped down 5 trees] back to 2800ish blood ,I'm alive I'm alive.

- so ammo or more meat ?

-went back to the control tower ,wire at the stairs ,no problem used tool box but I could not walk or move forward up the stairs [should have just walked a way] ,used ladder same thing ,I could see all the guns and ammo on the floor but could not move past the door way ,then I was dead [blood 0]. shot or wire I could not see.

-but after I respawned , the first thing I see was a cow standing on the road ,after looking for one for maybe 10 hrs on the edge of death the whole time. lol.

lol been there. Kinda irritating that you walk from town to town, risking everything just to find a can of beans or a coke, and you dont find squat. I have gone hours with like 2K blood, passing out over couple hundred feet, looking for food or matches. Probably why when I get loaded up I dont play for like a week.

Do you know the name of the servers? I'm from Chicago as well and at night I usually go to some UK server to avoid the night, but if its a local server, my ping would go down. Also, team up?

@ Childs

I'll do the same if I ever get to that point.
one bug on my first cook out was the GUI blocking the warning "you must be in a fire safe location " as I ran into the woods and keep losing the wood piles in the grass. once I saw that message in the background behind to gear screen , I ran around until I heard my boots go chunk on solid ground then it went ok.[besides the past outs] but no flame or smoke
-will have look pass the GUI for the message when something does not work next time.
-you can break a leg opening a back house door , but last night I spawned at elektro on the high dock, I wanted more of the s/w area so I didn't want to be there , so I jumped 30' into the water to kill myself and did no damage lol .
-I found a heat pack in the first house after swimming the 500m to the west side of town. still there and feel like I'm a big noob target for a sniper.

It's getting a bit annoying to get sniped in the middle of nowhere.
Yesterday I just wanted to get a refill at the lake near Vybor, and never even saw who was shooting at me. While I was being shot at, I did see someone joy-riding a heli in the distance. Decided I'm a man and won't plug (even though I had some calm for a few minutes after the first shots, while cowering in some cover), and got wiped out for my trouble.
At least I didn't lose my M107 due to that, that bugged out of my bag pack when I logged off, for some reason...Only the Bizon that someone else is probably perusing now.
Before that I ran across the fields north of Stary Sobor... Right, that wasn't so smart, but still, I don't get what people get out of sniping people just passing through.
If I see someone actively looting a spot I was just approaching, I guess I might take the shot, but even then I'm not too inclined to shoot in anything but self defense...
Guess I won't be going anywhere by myself anywhere. Without spotter and backup you're just doomed.
Doesn't help that I refuse to use 3rd person cheat-view...Maybe should stick to 1st person only servers...

Yeah, its crazy. I remember searching forever for matches, tons of unsuccessful dangerous raids on towns before I finally hit paydirt. Then 10 minutes later I check in a low yield building in a tiny town just to see if I could get some easy food and there's another set in there. WTF?

The only time I've attacked another player (first) was when I was literally starving to death and had barely made it to a castle only to find some guy with an axe had already cleared it out. I'd been looking for food forever and couldn't find shit!

People will shoot at you up north I think because you probably have decent gear whereas on the coasts its easy but there's nothing to get. But with so many people using hacked in gear I'm not even sure that makes sense. I last played a week ago and I logged out in the woods north of Msta. I figured I'd check out the deer stand just north of the town before moving on. I climbed up inside saw a backpack on the ground (that's weird? I didn't think these spawned here...) and boom I'm dead. Sniper was most likely lying down in the hills where I'd come from with his sites trained on the deer stand. I probably walked right by him, especially if he was wearing a ghili suit. The backpack was the leftovers from a previous victim most likely.

I was alive for like 2 weeks before that but back luck plus I didn't case the area properly and I die in 2 minutes far up in the North.

Very rare happening last night.... we met a survivor who wasn't a "shoot on sight" kind of player.

Myself and two friends (another guy off in the woods waiting for us too) were at the military medical tents in Cherno trying to get some med supplies back to our tents. After a few minutes in there one of my friends says "Hey, when did you get a AKM" and I replied that that I still had my shotgun.... he realizes there is another guy in the tent area with him, with a gun, who hasn't shot us yet.... strange, I know.

He ends up messaging us on global and we talk back to him (he didn't have a mic), we traded a few items, parted ways and it was a nice little meeting. This is the first time in a looooong time I have found someone armed who just doesn't gun people down.

We have a LINGOR server up with working vehicles. We've been busy :)

Search for Rinaun in server browser in both DayZ editions to find our servers. We are going to start hosting weekly events soon :) A small handful from here already play.
