I would still imagine that they will make a whole new world, new art assets, and sounds and the like.

I'm not familiar with the Arma 3 engine, but maybe doing all that will not take long. Could be wrong and we'll see it soon.

The update that I read from the dev said that (paraphrasing) "Updates to the mod AND the standalone will be released concurrently. Mod users will still be able to play."

In my opinion, that says the standalone is running on the Arma 2 engine.

I HOPE I'm wrong.

Anyone playing tonight and want to team up? Last time I played me and a guy in ghillie suit ran into each other in the woods and we killed each other. I had no idea where the guy was but he made a stupid move stepping out from a tree so I was able to fill him with lead with my AFK before he finished me off....double KO, lol. I made a mad dash to get to my body and his....would have been loaded with gear but the server admin decided to restart the server to check logs for a possible hacker and when a server reboots all the dead bodies disappear:-(

I'm pretty sure I'm still playing the same character that has full gear. Are you seeing a lot of hackers? I guess if you just stay away from near full servers you should be fine, eh?

Oh then he's dead. I'm pretty sure it's been over a week. Too bad cause I had a ghillie suit, M4A1 CCO SD, night vision, rangefinder, gps, antibiotics, etc. Everything.

I had stopped playing for about a month and my character was alive when I logged back in.

Yeah I took a 2 week break and just recently logged back in yesterday, everything was as I left it when I logged out.

I was watching some youtube video's and it seemed like in the ones I was watching (only a couple) there were teams hunting others

Where a lone wolf would be running around and basically have no chance while these guys would systematically triangulate and kill...

How is it when you first start out? Do you have ANYTHING? a pee-shooter?

Is it only after you kill and get a couple of upgrades that you can hold your own?

You start with some painkillers, a flashlight and a bandage. Plan on dying alot when you're learning your way around the map and UI. I've taken down players that had AK's and M4's with a Makarov. Its really a matter of outsmarting them and being unpredictable.

lol.....just got permanently IP banned from the forums by Rocket's friend for asking if private servers are allowed, and then a long tiff following it in private messages. This game has terrible staff/admins, all hired from his pool of friends. I'm really amazed at how it hasn't came back to bite them in the ass viciously.

Anyone playing tonight at all? Haven't had any luck finding vehicles for awhile now....me and coldmeat have a campsite that's hopefully still there....now just to get a vehicle and NVGs for myself, lol.

Found a camp yesterday on another server. It was about a thousand meters north of my camp. They had 60 tents with tons of stuff in it. Looted what I wanted, server hopped and then came back and found they had a truck. Ran all the tents over destroying all the items inside.

Played this afternoon. Still trying to tweak and get the best for I can with my 260m. Don't understand. The armory in OA runs GREAT. I have everything set to low. Dayz I get half the performance. Do all the zombies really make that big of a performance difference? I have a quad core could with 12mb cache and 4gb ram.

Do all the zombies really make that big of a performance difference? I have a quad core could with 12mb cache and 4gb ram.

I think it is all the zombies in the server. Any slow down I get is when there is 400+ Zombies in the server. 200 or so causes no issues for me at all and it runs decently smooth.

So last night I was playing and got into a game with a friendly hacker, this guy was spawning helicopters for everyone and also anti-material rifles. I figured that I was about to get pulled into a deathmatch, so I left thinking that all the stuff in my inventory would follow me to an empty server. It turns out it doesn't, so jumping out of a hacked game really nets you nothing especially if they dump non standard weapons into your inventory.

They only restart if they crash, no 6 hour reset cycle or anything.

I made the jump. WOW.... Spent 2 hours last night creepin crawling... Hiding and bandaging.
I have been immersed before. This was PRETTY intense. My son said EXPECT to die. Till I do the first time, I hope to KEEP that immersion.
OK, I need help. Where is there an all encompassing site for Keyboard Commands.
Inventory commands... It appears NOTto be user friendly. I finally get "G" is for gear and the enter key on the num pad is for 3rd person view. (LOL that took awhile)
DO I REALLY have to make a choice between a flashlight and a handgun?
How do I put stuff on my tool belt?

And any tips for performance? Or a websight for such? I run everything very nicely on my older system.

Boot drive is a 128 gig SSD
Game drive is a 1 TB WD....
4 gigs or ram
and a GTX 9800

I get a 3 second "LAG" every 45 seconds or so. VERY frustrating.
