I know what the odds of two things happening that have a 60% chance of happening individually. The math is simple.

Try to realize that nate & co studied this academically while you're bragging about multiplying two numbers.

You're just another dipshit injecting race into Zin's spot on discourse which is solely about economics. You have zero clue how the Rust Belt people live because you are a city fuck. Keep ignoring them, keep labeling them as racists and you'll get your ass handed to you again in 2020. Carry on.

Zin et al's reasoning is what lost the midwest for the democrats. They focused on saving the industry there and didn't think pandering to bigots would resonate far better in comparison.

Guess it's evident why they've been repeating that mistake, though.

It's really as simple at this. The onus on the Democrat party now is to reverse failing the middle class so badly that they felt their best option was to elect a bigot.
Why is the "onus" on the Democratic party when Trump ran as a Republican?. Let's do a little recent history of what happened in the US since 2000, shall we?. A republican president (backed by a republican congress) decided to de-regulate the banking industry and wall St. too, so began the "house of cards" where in 2-3 years everyone's home was now tripled in value.. Next began the construction of more condo's, more homes, more retail space, more everything!. Many homeowners did a re-fi and bought that Winnebago they always wanted, mortgages were handed out like Halloween candy, in '93 when I bought my house it took 3-4 weeks for $$ verification, employment verification, everything was done by the book. At the end of the day they tallied our debt and income and gave us a max $$ number we could spend, this is how a mortgage gets an "A" bond rating so it could be sold to another bank or traded on wall St. In the early 2000's that system became a laughingstock, people were buying homes they COULD NOT afford to pay for but hey, who needs regulations, right?. Garbage mortgage loans were "rubber-stamped" by bond Co's as "A" who were in on the "action" as well, construction boomed to the point that even a carpenter's helper were fetching $17-20/hr (around here in FL anyway), it got to the point that Disney had to bring in folks from South America to perform tasks that locals used to do, some pizza places stopped delivery service due to lack of drivers. Then, as it had to, the "house of cards" collapsed, foreclosures were rampant, wall St. (who had bought a lot of the garbage loans) began to crumble, automakers needed "bailing out" or millions more would be unemployed. THIS is the situation Obama inherited, IMHO I thought he did a decent job over his tenure, people are back to work, but the pay is not what it was in '03-'04 so now how is Trump going to make everything all rosy again?, what are his plans to restore the middle class?, how can he get the manufacturing jobs lost to Mexico back?. We shall see, I hope he does well. I think us, as Americans need to get a LOT more involved with how and who we spend our $$ on, during his campaign Trump mentioned the Carrier Co closing all US manufacturing operations and moving those to Mexico, maybe it's time WE started rewarding Co's that don't leave for the "cheap thrill" of paying someone $3.50/hr

Racists are actually people too. Most racists aren't likely to be suffering from some disorder limiting their interests to merely white superiority. They have a range of concerns and problems, like most everyone else.

A racist could have many reasons for supporting Trump, with the non-fact that Trump being a racist himself playing little role. Racists also have many reasons to support hilary.

Stop your harmful stereotyping. Do racists only vote for racists? Only in elections where the candidate is a "confirmed racist?"

"well, yes, they vote republican every time."

Funny one, at!

Yeah it turns out Trump figured speaking to the blue dog types works better without the whistle.

Btw, congrats on the half-intelligent marginally nuanced post; genuinely hope someone didn't hack your account.

Funny, hardly any mention of hate crimes against whites since these "protests" (riots) have started after Hillary lost. Not surprising as media usually only reports alleged racism towards any color other than white.

You'd better call the FBI and let them know since the article was based on the FBI.

It is kind of funny how all of a sudden these supposed attacks started taking place after Trump was elected President. I mean, all of a sudden people started to attack minorities because their man was in charge.

But I guess if the media reports it, it must be true.

Must we automatically assume that everything the FBI reports is correct and/or true?

Even if these reports are true, it is still very strange how all of a sudden, people started doing these things.
You mean like the Klan holding a parade in celebration of Trump winning?

Well at least with republicans in control, gun laws will become quite liberal nation wide.
Then every woman, every Muslim, every Hispanic and every Black can carry a pistol and legally blow their assailants head clean off.
I think that will calm things down a bit.....

Have you tried coloring books? I hear they are all the rage these days and they are lots of fun.

That's fine. I'm sure they had rallies and other events during previous Presidential terms (not related to the President's election victories, though). This isn't surprising though since Trump has been known as being elected by a mostly white electorate. It's not totally unexpected that there would be some "pride" events associated with this. I'm sure the groups that support the Democrats might have had rallies if Hillary won (such as gays, for example).

But all the other things that are suddenly taking place are a little bizarre. I know decency and morality is heading towards a steep downward slope but even then, these events seem very hard to believe.

Who would you believe? If it just popped up in your fb feed would that do the trick?

It's not strange if you consider the context that the nation just legitimized Trump and his crew and his legion of racist followers.

The report details the year 2015. This is noted in the article that you apparently didn't bother to actually read.

"In its report Monday, the F.B.I. cataloged a total of 5,818 hate crimes in 2015 — a rise of nearly 340 over the year before — including assaults, bombings, threats and property destruction against minorities, women, gays and others."

As I posted to Ackmed who said much the same thing:

I did not say to not believe the FBI. I meant that we should not just assume that whatever the FBI reports as to be the truth.

Trump and his crew have been on the TV screen as well as the computer monitors of people for over a year now. The media has been covering this crude man for over a year non-stop. Of course he will have followers. The media has helped his cause (not by accident).

As for everything else, such as attacks, who knows. I find it a little strange.

Yes you right that there are racists who follow him. But lets not just pick on racism as the only vice. We need to remember that Trump has been a vile person and yet people still voted for him. Let's not just narrow down our focus on things such as racism, etc. We need to see that in a corrupt society as ours can a person like Trump (or Hillary) be elected President. It is sad.

I'm not focused on racism alone, but a lot of these crimes seem to be tied to the race of the victims.

I am focused on bigotry as a whole. It is pervasive and gaining momentum with a permissive media.

And it is largely man against woman, which is not surprising, but certainly validates a lot of what's been and continues to be dismissed by loudmouthed assholes.
