You all know David Blaine. He is IMO, the most amazing 'magician' ever and really puts Houdini to shame when you compare what they've done. Im sure you guys have seen some of Blaines street magic, where a lot of his tricks are very well done.


What Im more interested in is the stunts he does though. The last one I remember he stood in an ice block for some prolonged period of time. 48 hours maybe? Not sure but he was basically freezing. The latest one involves him living in a giant fishbowl for one week and then attempting to hold his breath for a record breaking FREAKING 9 MINUTES!!!! Now there is no way he can illusion that... its just incredible human feat right?

of course he does the whole point of the illusion is for you to think it is impossible to be an illusion.
 
How can you illusion holding your breath underwater? Unless its a total setup/scam, which I highly doubt is the case.
 
Nobody can't hold their breath for 9 minutes. No human has a lung with that kind of air capacity, not even super human Lance Armstrong. The only explanation is David Blaine is not human.

It's a very entertaining scam.
 
Yeah, the whole block of ice trick was BS; he was surrounded by air within the ice, of which air is actually a good insulator. Doing such a trick in frigid water is actually more impressive.

Yup. As proven on South Park. 😀

All magic, with the exception of Sleight of Hand (my fav) has tricks to it. 100 years ago, it was smoke and mirrors. These days it's holograms and the like.

EDIT: Oh, it was Copperfield? They should have raped and pillaged that douche while they were at it. Friggin pretentious bastard, if I had a billion dollars in special effects equipment on a closed stage with enough smoke to perform covert ops in broad daylight, I could be a magician too

Why? What makes a good magician? Someone with +7 Charm on D&D?

I watch his show sometimes, I see all of the traits of a magician. Plenty of card tricks, sleight of hand, "mind" reading, making things seemingly disappear, etc. Looks like a carnie to me, and he's quite good at it. So what exactly makes him a horrible magician?

And, please link to one of the EXCELLENT "magicians" you have in mind. I'm actually EXTREMELY interested in someone that makes David Blaine look like a tool. In fact, I hope to seek them out in person (I will travel as far as Uzbekistan) in order to see them perform live. I may also create a shrine, fanclub, or cult along the way.
