So, put in a lot of time this weekend. Definitely getting my money's worth! I finally found a build I like (hexes are super OP... I can 4 shot Guardian Dragon before he gets off the ground and the fight really starts). Can't wait to try out some NG+. Did some grinding in the SunBros as well. Got enough coins to get to rank 2, I just haven't put in the time to do it yet.
I have a Hexer that is just beastly. 40 int, 40 faith wearing the incredibly ugly Lion's Mage set (for increased cast speed). I am going to hit 40 attunement eventually and possibly 40 vit. I increased my ADP enough to hit 98 agil, but since that also scales with ATT, I might drop it. I also currently have 12 strength to hold a shield I bought from McDuff, but I hear there is a better one with a lower STR requirement, so I might look into that.
I use literally only hexes. I use the Dark + 10 Caitha's Chime (which only can cast hexes and just has a ton of dark damage, S dark scaling, and 145 cast speed) and the dark + 10 staff Felkin gives you if you have 20 int / 20 faith.
Last I checked, PS3 sold 3-4x as much as the 360 version. So while they would be losing a decent chunk of potential revenue, I could see Sony enticing them to make a Demon's Souls 2.
With all the cash flowing in, From probably has enough money to hire staff and work on two Souls simultaneously.
Dark Souls sold about double on the PS3 than the Xbox (and that was almost entirely due to Japanese sales). The same looks to be true so far on Dark Souls 2. If you removed Japan's sales, they sell equally well, but since Japan avoids the Xbox, it sells pretty poorly in Japan.
They would be losing a ton of revenue making a PS4 exclusive. Dark Souls sold a total of 2.59 million world wide on multiple platforms (not including PC sales). That is against an install base of like 150+ million consoles. PS4 has like 3% of that install base. Plus, Demon's Souls sold a bit more than half of their total multiplatform sales (against a must larger install base than the PS4, mind you).
I made the mistake of leveling to SL150 before finishing the SunBro covenant. I don't know where to co-op now...
They would be losing 'potential' revenue, but that doesn't mean the game couldn't turn a healthy profit. Let's say the Playstation gets about 1/2 of the total sales. I think they could make DeS2 and still have it profit with the reduced sales. Hell, DeS1 was crazily successful for them and pulled in a ton of money. It would probably have to be scaled back a bit from Dark Souls 2, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't be awesome still.
I bet a PS4 exclusive DeS2 would convince a lot of people to get PS4s (it would convince me at least). If a deal was made with Sony to cover some of the development costs, I don't see how it couldn't be profitable. With the influx of cash they've been getting, they could probably have a Souls team large enough to work on both Dark Souls and Demons Souls simultaneously. I'm sure Sony would lend some engineering power as they did in DeS.
Basically, I would really like a DeS2 and am thinking of excuses to make it happen.

why? DS and DeS is basically the same thing.
They are similar, but they have quite different atmospheres, aesthetics, and a few different mechanics.
There are those who prefer DeS to DaS1/2, so that shows there is at least some difference, however subtle it may be.
holy crap, farming souls is not an option anymore. Even though that makes the game so much harder, I still like this concept... I am so screwed.
