DAMNIT! My genetics professor just posted the grades for our final...

Shawn

Lifer
I got an 83. I needed an 84 on the final to get an A in the class. My final grade is an 89.4%. FVCK!!!!!!

I just sent my professor an e-mail telling him that I had 3 finals on the same day and that that was my lowest grade yet. I usually do better on the tests. I went to every single class and even did most of the extra credit opportunities. Hopefully he'll show mercy and bump me up 0.1%. 🙁

I think you have a pretty good chance of getting bumped up, how well do you know the prof.? Did he/she take attendance to know that you were there everyday?

If they know you did all or most of the extra credit I would think they would have mercy and give you the 0.1%

Good luck with that.

In reality though, he already gave you 0.5% points

Yeah I get online to look at my French final grade and it's 89.44% Can't get too much closer to the A I don't think.

Worst part is that it's a conversation class where we're just graded on presentations... prof could have easily given me one extra point on my final presentation since it's hard to determine exactly what constitutes specific points in a presentation.

I missed an A by a single point out of 200 on a final my freshman year. You have no sympathy from me.

That's why you're given 0.5%. The true A is still 90.00

*I'm being hypocritical though. My grades are always right around there and depend on the teacher (still in hs) rounding up.

if he bumps up your grade by .1%, that would bring you up to 89.5%

Well I missed an A by a single point as well. The total score is out of 500. I got 447. 448 is an A.

I got a 89.4 in one of my classes this semester, and my prof gave me a B.

Try getting an 89.49%... It was the half a point I lost on my final. Gave me a B and wouldn't change it 🙁

I missed my A because I got 179.4 points on a 200 points scale. I am closer to my A than you.

doesn't that round up?

I know some professors that don't even round. 90 and up is an A. 89.9 is not an A.

That's pretty sh|tty. I think even the grade programs round up.

WTF? 😕 You can relate to the OP but give no sympathy?

"My brother just got into a horrible car accident."
"Oh I know how you feel, same thing happened to me, so no sympathy for u!"
"omgwtfbbq?"

i needed an 111/125 in one of my finals to get a guaranteed A, and i made 111.5, i.e., just made it.

i fell your pain - hopefully you get an A.

sucks for you 🙁 good luck on that.

i guess lots of people have had the bordering on the B+/A line.. my professors never are nice though 🙁

37 college classes so far. 35A's and 2 b+'s.. both b+'s within a point of an A. The worst was my Bio class. 100 questions divided between 3 tests. each question worth 1 point towards the final grade. needed a 90 for the A and took an 89. Sad knowing one wrong answer kept me from the A. I need to start guessing better 🙁 heh. Then the other was a course I took and I unfortunately bombed my midterm when I missed one whole essay on the test to do 🙁 but made up for it excessively everywhere else and wound up with an 89.2 as my final grade. No rounding for me.

Yeah, I thought the exact same thing when I read your post. The same thing happened to me. I figure I can give him more sympathy because of it.

Ah that was a mistake. Don't whine about your misfortune. Instead, you should have asked if you could do any kind of extra credit for a final bump of a partial percentage.
