Cool. Except for the cow brains!! :disgust: :disgust: :disgust:

These are without the buns. I don't think they're full of "shite" because they're Hebrew National. 😉

She DOES eat fruits and vegetables. NO PROBLEM. That IS her problem usually. She's UNDERWEIGHT because that's usually ALL she eats.

We need to put weight on her, but she refuses starches. I plopped down the hotdogs that were left over from my Superbowl party and they were gone in 5 minutes!

She was eating those Cracker Jack rice cakes, but now she's decided she doesn't like those anymore either. I think I'll give her one of my Clif Bars now. 😱

Some kids are just very lean. no need to fill her with greasy foods just so she gets upto what is a supposedlly normal weight. As long as she's getting adequate calories, a decent range of food and is exercising, then just let nature work it's magic.

I was underweight when I was very young, but my parents simply fed me regular meals the same as what they ate. Later in life my metabolism slowed and I put on the weight naturally. Perfectly healthy now and I didn't have to stuff my face with dodgy "meat" to get here.

don't feed your kid hotdogs at all. Full of shite. give her proper food, vegetables, etc... things with vitamins and all that.

You don't have kids, do you? NO. So STFU.

Ah right, so when I have kids it'll make sense to give them three spine & hoof dogs in a row... The wisdom that magically appears with parenthood; I look forward to it.

Parenthood just reinforces the realization of maturity, that you don't know everything, which is where I think you're having the disconnect.

You sure sound real mature with the STFU comment...

I made the comment, Dr Phil.

Oh, and feed your kid nothing but tofu and carrots and he/she won't even live to see two. Hot dogs are a good source of animal-based iron and protein both of which are crucial for kids.

There's nothing dodgy about Hebrew National dogs. No artificial colors, preservatives, flavors, no animal by-products. Just good cuts of meat. They don't make the "beaks and anus" style of hotdogs.

Mmmm.. I know where you're coming from, because as a former cyclist I would have come from that angle too, but fact of the matter is you're using too much logic. Two year olds aren't logical.

Even my kid's doctors are saying "feed her what she eats." (both her pediatrician and GI doctor.)

See, the problem is kids that young, that don't fully understand the concept of what's good or bad, right or wrong (ever get bit by a two year old? Why do they do that?) You put a plate of healthy food in front of the kid, and she doesn't eat at all. At least nothing caloric. Then the kids health becomes bad (she's already asthmatic) and bad turns to worst.

When she's three or four and I can say "finish your dinner or you don't get to watch any Wiggles tonight" and it sinks in, THEN I can feed her health, organic, riboflavin enriched tofu balls. Until then... EAT UP THEM DIGGITY DOGS!!!!

Are you a vegetarian? Obviously not a hardcore one if you are or you would have really gone off, but when it comes to Hot Dogs, I'm not feeding my kid Oscar "floor sweepings" Meyers. 🙂

It's cool. I hear ya.

I was a veggie for over six months, but I found I didn't feel so good quite often, even though I was very careful to monitor which food groups, nutrients and all that I was eating and to compensate for those normally found in various meats. I also couldn't live any longer without a hero sandwich...

These days I only eat cuts of meat and never touch anything processed. I've read in far too many places where the companies put all sorts of nasties in processed meat products. Simply because a company has a good image, it doesn't guarantee that they've put decent ingredients in the products. If you can't see or tell the difference, the manufacturer is always going to go for the cheapest possible ingredients to maximize profit margins.

Hence I only eat what I *know* to be an actual chunk of cow/chicken/lamb and not something bulked up with chicken skin (which by law counts as meat) or whatever...

Great. But this thread is about a two year old. When you can get a two year old to eat a healthy balanced meal, write a book, make millions, then come back and preach at us. Otherwise, your dietary habits mean nothing in this thread.

Also, that means you don't know about Hebrew National. You should try them sometime. Seriously:

What's funny is your cuts of meat probably include Boars Head, right? Tasty... But loaded with chemicals like preservatives and MSG.

No thanks. My daughter and I will enjoy the Hebrew National hot dogs. 😉

Are you a spokesperson for peta?
You know that unless your meat is freerange it's pumped up with a ridiculous amount of chemicals right? So going off on a tangent about the evils of processed foods really just fades into the background in the grand scheme.

Here is a pointer for you, just about everyone on the planet does not, and does not want to live a "perfectly" healthy life. So making some vain PC comment about other peoples habits really just makes you look like an ass instead of getting your "point" across.

Also, 6 months is barely a trial run for being vegetarian. YOU COULDNT HANDLE IT COULD YOU!!!! 😉

I've found my kids will eat like that. Pork out for a few days or a couple weeks then hardly touch anything all day but a bowl of cereal and two bites of dinner for the next couple weeks. Usually coincides with their growth spurts...will chub up a little, then get taller and skinny out, then chub up again.

Kids

Umm... No. Read the first sentence of my post. She's under the 50th percentile for weight (but 75% for height! But that because her dad is 6'4".) 😉

Oh, so you adopted my little girl? lol

j/k cuz I'm 6'4 too

True. I do go for freerange foods. And no, I really couldn't take it, I love steak far too much. Being a veggie blows.

As for people not wanting to live perfectly healthy lives, that's true also and perfectly fair enough. I smoked for eight years, and I still often go out and drink like a fish. I do try and look after my body though, and you'd be a fool not to. The #2 form of cancer in 20 -> 30 year olds is colon cancer, and much evidence points towards causes being diet related.

Of course, it's your life etc etc.... Do as you please.

Well... Barney just ended.

The conversation in this thread and the fact that Barney is actually on in my house makes me realize how much your opinions on things change when you have kids.

My wife and I once said "there's no way Barney will ever be on in this house!" Now seeing that she's absorbed GOOD THINGS from watching it, I turn it on, zone it out and let her enjoy. As annoying to adults as it may be.

So the kid eats hot dogs, watches Barney. What the heck is next? 🙂

Does it matter?
People are WAY too concerned about their health.

I'm not talking about the nutritional aspect. I' mjust thinking of the physical size of 3 hot dogs with bun being stuffed into her stomach. Seems like alot of stuff to be packing in.

You'd be amazed at what kids can put away. Seriously.
