pictures like I said and some receipts. Otherwise I just picked the cheapest set that replaced any individual ones I had.

I have a socket box that was full save about 10 pieces (I have a recent post looking for these actually)...that's about 500 sockets right there. The rest of the tools I took pretty good pictures of, my garage was posted here recently except for the rollaway box (I had pictures of it though) and my garage laptop. I am trying to find a picture of it, I am sure I have one or a video.

I seriously recommend any homeowner out there to spend a few hours and take a picture of everything they have...put it on a DVD or thumbdrive and keep it in a safety deposit box or off-site.

I was fortunate they didnt steal my PC...they had packed up my new scanner, took the two cell phones off my desk and some other stuff like my A650IS...but I think my neighbor called at the right time.

this is ATOT, no one really feels the need to post anything they post, they just post it. Great example? the existence of this thread!

along similar lines to what i posted in your other thread, karma's a bitch! jackasses get what jackasses deserve it seems, makes me happy to see the universe taking care of itself

Only half? You mean, like, if you only count one spouse in a couple as being in debt, and also include children in the total?

professionals are damn good at what they do.

most common burglary time too. in the late morning hours, everyone in a home, and better for them, the neighborhood, are likely at work, in school, or even sleeping due to late shifts instead of 9 to 5.
And then with people taking lunches and coming back home for a half hour to get something done... most pros stop their work until after common lunch hours.

All the more reason to own a dog who is not kind to people in the house who are not invited by the owner. Sure, professionals will sometimes kill the dog - but not before a lot of noise has been made. If anyone nearby was asleep or not paying attention, a lot of dog barking from a single home, strange vehicle, and then no barking - that outta set off a "something's not right" alarm. And at that time, better to call the police due to suspicion rather than sit idle and simply hope nothing is wrong. Sadly, a lot of people just don't care what "might" be happening... only if they can confirm it will they *maybe* do something.

Sadly, you can almost bet they've cased just about every potentially worthwhile house in the entire neighborhood. Someone on a neighboring street will probably be hit soon.

He called you a jackass and suggested that it was your turn to be on the receiving end of bad karma.

seek help as well. Thanks! The weekend before my robbery I volunteered my time to cut the lawn and shrubs of some lady I don't really know so she wouldn't be assessed fines. She got cancer and is in New York with family.

If karma works you two should be getting a visit from it's gimp soon.

lawnchair, buttered popcorn, coke.

I've also pulled up a lawnchair, buttered popcorn, pepsi, and in addition, I turned the key from lock to unlock on the ban button & have a finger on the button.

Enough of the trolling/thinly veiled personal attacks against the OP. This thread does not need to spiral downhill. Thanks, Anandtech Moderator DrPizza

No we are in debt because we need a 5,000 square foot house to store all of our stuff!

Man, this guy got burglarized and you're giving him a hard time? That's pretty low. Say whatever you want about the OP elsewhere, but nobody deserves to get their home broken into and possessions stolen.

And yeah, many homeowners do take pictures/keep inventory around the house. Considering that a good chunk of our income goes to keeping the place, we need insurance to actually pay out if something like this happens.

This was going on in my neighborhood a bit when I was growing up, but we had 4 dogs, so the house was pretty much off limits. Considering that my grandmother was living with us off and on, I can't imagine what two huskies and two shepherds would've done to an intruder. Still, I remember my parents worrying about it, and we were in a pretty good neighborhood.

Sucks, Alky, but it's good that nothing that can't be replaced got taken. And at least you don't have to report a stolen firearm, that can usually take a while. Do you have an alarm? Would that help in this situation? We don't have one and we're considering it.

Huh? It's pretty easy to upload pictures online, I do it for backup purposes anyway...

Wow, that sucks. And people think I'm weird for taking pictures of my stuff. Of course if my computer, digital camera, and memory cards get jacked the pics don't do me any good....

You could have uploaded them to a storage site quicker than it took to type out your post.

I actually had been planning an alarm (should be here today or tomorrow hopefully). Now I may add some video to that mix.
