alkemyst....I'm sorry for your loss.
If it makes you feel better, this has led me to take pictures of everything I own...which is about 1/10th your list, but at least I'll have it cataloged

btw do you get back the current value of the items, or how much you paid for them intially, or something in between (average of purchase price + current value)

wow, i find it strange that initially you thought they stole almost nothing, and now there is a list 11 miles long.

shens?

where did I say that?
oh, i just remembered a thread from last week about the initial breakin i guess. sorry you got your stuff scammed dude.

No that thread never stated I only lost that small list I had posted, I had only posted the retarded stuff they took.

You know this and simply want to troll. Go back to the other forums you claim are so much better and see who can win the circle jerk once and for all.
you got me wrong, man. i was seriously sorry your shit got scammed. i haven't been over there in a while, at least not on the main forum. bits and bytes, one post. i'm not trollin. i'm too down to even contemplate trolling. i don't care about forums, FWIW.

wait... wat...r u high man? ;)

That will probably depend on the insurance policy.

We had "full replacement value" coverage when we were burgled...and still do.

They wrote me checks based on the approximate values of the items I listed as missing, then, as I replaced stuff, if it cost more than the estimated amount, they cut checks for the extra.

What if something is no longer purchasable without going through 2nd hand routes?

Again, it depends on whether you have replacement cost coverage or not. If you do, you would get the cost of a similar item. When my palm Treo 700p was stolen, and no longer available, they gave me the value of the palm centro (two generations newer).

OP, I hope your insurance experience goes as well as mine. I have Farmers, and they were great. About $5000 worth of stuff was stolen. They gave us what I expected (or more) for every item except one, which after questioning they increased to what I expected. We have up to 1 year after the burglary to keep submitting items. It was about a week and a half from when we submitted the first set of paperwork until we got the check.

as far as replacement I am not sure what I am in for yet...some items have caps, others none.

However my neighbor's 61" RPTV was $5800 new, insurance gave him $3000 as a 60" plasma or LCD by the same maker was that cost.
