That's pretty pathetic, in my opinion. A teacher tries to show you something beyond the surface and you bitch and moan.

W/e, she's still psycho, i can find the rest of school subjects usefull, even biology, but GOD DAMN give us the basic concept.

Were students always this apathetic and disinterested?

There are underachievers, as well as overachievers, and both are rarley grounded in reality.

Not as I recall. The majority of them are like this even in college now. They don't want to have to do any work for a good grade, and expect at least a B for just coming to class.

Thats the thing, we dont DO any work. We just sit there and listen. And she expects us to get all that information in our heads by just hearing her babble on and on.

If she gave us worksheets from once in a while, where it is expected of us to go through the book/notes and fill it in, then i would be doing fine.

She goes through tons of definitions in 50 minutes and expects me to come the next day and do good on her "POP" quiz (she doesnt tell us when we're getting a quiz, just "POPS" one out) how lame.

Thats the thing, she gives us notes that are allready typed out..

Other classes are made to write the notes as she goes, making them actually listen and write it out.

We just sit there.

hell, in my high school a 71 was failing. under 75 = F

to the OP... suck it up, stop b!tching, and study. there will be many things in life that will be much more boring and painful than a bio lecture (re: staff meetings, confrences, etc, etc). deal with the short term annoyance for the long term benefits.

What's the problem again? Why is just sitting there such a bad thing? You're not doing anything physically draining, just listening. The notes have already been typed for you. What else can be easier????? Honestly, I don't see a problem here.

Photosynthesis FTW!
(Or not...who cares about the mating cycle of plants)

Dude...get through it the best you can, pass the class and forget all of it. You'll never need it again, anyway.

It's funny how, if this were the case, you'd probably still be complaining. "We've got too many notes to write and can't pay attention to the teacher."

If she's blabbering away, why not read the notes you've been given out of the kindness of her heart.

I'd advice you to skip college because you're in for a hell of a surprise on what's considered "teaching" at a university level.

I hear you can make good money in construction or auto mechanics.

Do you have a book? Do the questions within and at the end of the chapter. The majority of your college classes aren't going to have required work either. Its hard to grade 10 problems when you get the 10 problems from 200+ students. Be proactive.

A 69 is most likely a D. Thats not failing, but it does suck.

And to Descartes:
It all depends on how the material is presented. I'm taking a writing class with a natural sciences basis this semester. Normally, as you know, scientific writing is pretty bland. We read Richard Dawkins's The Selfish Gene and Lewis Thomas's collection of essays The Life of a Cell. They went in depth into topics but portrayed them in interesting light. I can read scientific literature thats boring, but it doesn't provoke me in the least.
