That's true, but it also limits your view... a lot, limits you to a pistol, and you're exposed from the behind and while moving.
1) you can turn around
2) with such huge armor, it's hard to carry a fully automatic assault rifle and manage both at the same time
3) who cares if it limits your view. You're not the one that's going to be sniping from behind the small barrier slowly moving down the courtyard giving you cover!
A riot shield, in this case, is meant to provide support for either yourself because you can only carry a pistol, or to group up with other riot shielders and provide some sort of decent cover for a heavy-assault from the front when the T's rush you!

can you shoot through the little hole in the riot shield? That would be an instant headshot I think.
Do you back out of everything that doesn't always go your way? There are ways to beating cheaters, and it's REALLY FUN when they start bitching at you because you got a kill on them when they even saw you coming through the walls

I downloaded it and installed it, it's steam..it's only the client, you have to download HL/CS with it, that's why it's broadband only..of course the server is completely flooded s oyou can't even download anything.

Anyways, if this is run from the Steam client, the old version may still work. I remember when I beta tested 1.2/1.3 (whenever Steam first came up) the CS files were in a completely different directory all together and the older CS still worked. I wonder if my old login for the steam would still work.. haven't used it in over a year..
If you download it, and it says it's downloading/updating platform.dll, wait about a minute, and if it doesn't move, cancel and re-open steam, do the same thing until it downloads..I did it it about 5 times and it downloaded it in a second.
