A comment there sums it up well.

Have gazillion-dollar nanosuit.

Arm self with stone-age weaponry.

Seriously though... are they trying to cash in on the Hunger Games popularity or something?

Yeah, I'm sorry. I LOVE Crysis 1 and 2, and will probably love 3, but a bow? No. That's just flat out stupid.

I thought the same at first, BUT if they implement it well, MAXIMUM POWER + compound bow might actually be pretty bad ass!

Bad ass, sure, but practical, no.

He's basically a freaking biomech, and he's holding a bow. Sorry, but he should have bazookas coming out of his asshole before he's holding a bow.

What if that's part of the irony in the game.. You play halfway through it, get beat up badly, and all you can scrape up is some guys bow. Then the game gets fun because you have a level or 2 of just maximum power + bow.

If they can do it without making it seem super forced just to make me use a bow then... alright, maybe.

They already had parts in Crysis 2 where they take powers away from you. That's overdone as it is, let alone already done in the series itself.

well i didn't mean take the powers away.. just a segment where the only weapon you can find is a bow, so you apply maximum power to it and make it really fierce.

Never played either Crysis, but isn't the suit capable of cloaking him or something? If you want to go stealth, a bow makes sense. Suppressors don't really work like they do in the movies...

You can't apply "maximum power" to a bow beyond what any normally strong person could do...

lol I agree.

I'm sure it will be more like:

Gimme your money.

Here's your bow, now STFU and play the game, or don't I don't care.

It's a frigging game people, seriously? Since when are the Crysis games a simulation of real warfare?

I believe what we're doing is called poking fun at promotional material. I find it odd that anyone would take this thread seriously.

I seriously hate this "argument." Just because the situations are unrealistic doesn't mean we shouldn't expect any realism at all. Why is there any gravity then? Fuck realism, we should all float!

I look forward to Crytek's CEO crying about piracy when they don't sell 19 million copies of the game for the PC. Maybe he should join up with Epic.

Piracy is the reason for the auto and bank bailouts don't you know. Damn pirates.

Seriously though, the idea of a bow itself doesn't bother me at all. It could change the gameplay enough to make it more interesting, and my guess is, it's not his only weapon anyway. Maybe he's been stranded on a remote planet filled with giant mechanical dinosaurs and his energy bow (read: Immortals) is his only weapon against the giant piles of dinosaur dung.

...I doubt it though, I better lock this idea down before someone steals it...

If a game incorporates zero gravity as part of the gameplay and it's actually fun, then hell yeah I'm all for it :awe:

Anyone remember low grav instagib in UT? I miss the good ol days...

"Realism" depends on the universe in which the characters inhabit. I don't mind when a suspension of disbelief is required, but you can't create a world and then violate it's rules.

Crysis is based on earth as we know it. Because there are aliens, we can accept that powers exist beyond what our protaganist understands. That being said, you can't go and blantantly violate newtons laws and say its ok.

Bottom line, there are always things that aren't always explained and sometimes we have to just accept it, but if you operate contrary to things that are easily understandable you alienate your audience.

Yeah thats not the way a bow works. For instance, If you took an average joe, and the hulk, and had them both fire the same bow, the impact force is going to be identical between them. The one way what you say could work is if the bow itself was far heavier. But then it would always require more strength to pull it back. But more power behind the arrow would only help so much as the ballistics of the arrow itself is its biggest limiting factor in terms of speed and distance.
