I hate to post a retarded question, but I just patched Crysis 2, added dx11 and high res textures, but can't locate the benchmark tool. Can someone please point me in the right direction? I feel as if I've checked every part of the in game menu.

The benchmark Bat file should be in your bin32 folder --- however, I still have not figured out how to get it to run though.

Right, mine is 0KB and cannot be executed.

They left the benchmark out for now. Time constraints.http://hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1037448002&postcount=535 Here are some instructions to load it. This is a NVidia benchmark, don't know if it is what Crytek will offer. I'd guess not.

Well, apparently the space in 'Program Files' will prevent it from working, and I can't really be assed to reinstall and repatch a game just to run a benchmark. What a fucking joke.

In any case, I'm playing it through again and yeah, it does look a lot better. I'm not noticing much of a performance hit at all.

DX11 Ultra crashing edition. Every save I try to load crashes the game.

Are you trying to launch through Origin? I had that same problem... it may be that it changed the directory it thinks your games are in. I'd check on the game settings and see where the directory is and if it's wrong.

I ended up uninstalling the game before I noticed this though. After a full reinstall and repatch things are running fine again. You might have to reinstall too.

I haven't really had much time to play Crysis 2 with DX11 Ultra settings, but from the little that I've seen, I'm very impressed! The game really does look a lot better

But man, this game eats VRAM for breakfast!

finally worth picking up Crysis 2!

And, going to be exciting to see the EVGA GTX-580 3GB Tri-SLI put to the test! :D

Well, Ultra + DX11 + Hi-Res Textures = low framerate on GTX460 @ 1920x1080. The only setting I turned down was Motion Blur (to Low). I'll have to play around with the settings I think...

I've found these instructions work and have tried it myself (not with DX11 yet). It's pretty easy. He made a correction which folder the benchmarks should be placed in Crysis 2/Benchmarks (rather than bin32).

http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/960489-/58578630

didn't work for me, all it did was get to the launch screen to press "enter"...maybe this needs to be tweaked to get it to run with latest 1.9 patch or am I doin' something wrong?

CryEngine is pure crap. I barely get past 25FPS with everything maxed out. This game is pure horseshit on my Radeon 6870. You'd think they could do a good job at streamlining the engine to run with DX11. I liked the game more when it had consolized graphics.

You may be right...but this is (unfortunately) one of those TWIMTBP games, but that is no excuse...I do share your pain...I tried playing this with the high res pack and dx11 and it chugged on a pair of (quadfire'd) ATI 5970's (on a 2600k @ 4.3 and 8 gigs of RAM)...really pathetic.

But just got (arrived in the mail yesterday) two gigabyte super OC GTX 580's in SLI and they are simply stunning cards. The game is now completely playable in DX 11 with the high res pack at "extreme" and looks amazing! --- I cannot belive we had to wait for this --- will try to see how it does on ultra tonight.

Hehe, I was just being a jackass. I just notice now that the patch is out, people are shifting their original complains of the game lacking graphic fidelity to it killing their computers.

Also, I have a question that may very well be better answered in the video cards forum, but I'm interested in buying another 6870 graphic card to run Xfire. Will Xfire work if the cards are from two diferent brands. I ask because I have my PC built by CyberPowerPC, and I am not able to find the brand they used for my graphic card on a vendor website like newegg.

People will always whine... first its because the game shipped with DX9 only and everyone cried its consolized (which it is but im talking about graphics only here). Now they give you DX11 and people are crying their mid range GPUs are brought to their knees and they cant max out the game. If you want a game to push the limits of graphics you cant expect to max it out on a single mid range card (not saying C2 is pushing any graphical limits but it is one of the best looking games out there).

As for the poster above me with the quadfire 5970's, it more than likely chugged due to a VRAM shortage as each of the GPUs on those 5970's only has 1GB and with the high res textures and DX11 C2 can take up anywhere from 1.5 to almost 3GB of VRAM depending on your res.

EDIT: Regarding the Xfire 6870's, try using GPU-Z and see if that tells you the brand. In any case so long as your current card is a reference design and you get another that's also a reference design they should work together just fine.

You can most definetely crossifre cards from diff manufacturers or even do hybrid crossfre if you like. In your case just grab another 6870 (of any brand) and you will be fine. However, if they are diff clocks, it will down clock to the slower card.

This is certainly true and the tesselation support is better as well...and at least in my own personal (and obviously anecdotal) experience a gtx 580 sli set-up is decidely superior to 5970 crossfire.

you have a 6870 which is mid range and you call the engine crap because you cannot get more than 25fps maxed out? this is not Portal 2 you know.

At all Ultra settings with a 1920x1200 res, my FPS with two GTX580's is around 40-50. Definitely taxes them, but playable.

I didn't see an option to adjust AA, though.

I have to sheepishly revise this FPS rate. I'm not sure why, but SLI had been disabled when I recorded that. Now with it enabled the rate is roughly double - 80-90 FPS at 1920x1200 and everything maxed. The scaling is quite impressive.

Yeah, I just scored two gigabyte super OC 1.5gig GTX 580's for sli --- these cards absolutely rock crysis 2.

Post some benchmark results. I'll try to get the benchmark working on my ancient X58 system.
