Thanks for the welcome. Anandtech has long been my go to source for hardware information.

This website is an invaluable resource that helped me build my current PC (Which was made years ago). I am still operating with an Intel E6600 that i've OC'd to 3.4 and an OC'd 8800 Ultra. She's an old one... but has served me well over the years.

Next month it's go time on my next build. Just waiting for the Radeon 6990 to drop along with the revised Sandy Bridge chipset. I'm sure i will become a more active forum member once i start to assemble the pieces.

As for the DX11 rumor above... i really hope support for it is not patched in following the release of Crysis 2. That would be a pretty good indicator that CryEngine 3 was not developed in conjunction with the newest tech.

Still nothing good to see :/

Nope, not impressive at all, I do like the shadows in the fallen bridge pic.
We'll just have to wait till we see it with DX11, not DX9.

BTW, I'll most likely get my computer built right before the release of the demo!! 🙂 I thought it'd take another month before I could pull together enough cash to order the remainder of the parts.

I enjoy settings like this in movies and books I read.
Planet of the Apes, Omega Man, ruined ( empty ? ) cities.
Are we going to see the human populace running around ? Have not seen any people in the pics ?

IMO, this gif from a Battlefield 3 teaser trailer that was just released today is much more impressive than anything I've seen from Crysis 2:

I haven't read the whole thread, but I'm wondering why everybody is passing judgement already on a game that isn't released... and more importantly, the leak that we know for a fact has incredibly limited performance, shaders, and textures.

Woah... Battlefield 3, looks like its gonna bring some serious grafics.
*edit: watched the youtube vid of the trailer....speechless.

^well, yeah, but there's also the thing with the diminishing returns on visuals as hardware gets faster and faster. When crysis first came out, it almost touched the limits of what gpus could do in the foreseeable future.

Now, even if they increase the polygon count ten fold, add newer models of shaders etc, the results may be visually neglijable. In the past that would have been the difference between an ugly pile of poorly textured rough geometrical shapes and half life 2, but now it's pretty hard to improve on what already exists.

PC demo is out tomorrow!

I am hoping it will include a benchmark and we get some more numbers.

Isn't the demo multiplayer only? If so, it won't be representative of what the single player frame experience will be like.

I hope the demo has full on dx11 graphics. A trend in PC demos seems to be limiting the available graphics options (Dragon Age 2, AvP, Dirt 2...)

I pretty certain the dirt 2 demo did have dx11 benchmark, I was jealous of owners of the new Cyrpress cards talking about it at the time.
I hope Crysis 2 does deliver dx11 in the demo, along with a benchmark. Will definitely have people trying, comparing , tuning their rigs !
Probably upgrading to 🙂

I could be wrong about the dirt 2 demo, I never played it. My memory tells me that many of the GPU reviews that included the demo (and not the full version) only showed dx9 results.
