Hey guys im trying to mine doge but cg miner just opens and closes.

This is what i am using.

setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
./cgminer --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://doge.cryptoculture.net:22555 -u webused.worker -p Workerpass --thread-concurrency 25614 --lookup-gap 0 --gpu-engine 947 --gpu-memclock 1250 --gpu-powertune 20 -w 256 -I 18 -g 1

I can do LTC under we mine ltc fine.

Heh, doge difficulty went from 87 down to 79. How's that possible?

Netcodepool moved to port 4094 from 4093. Much idle shibas. Much sadness

^^^

doge.netcodepool closed regs for a reason too, they were THE BIGGEST doge mining pool. The port change probably knocked enough miners off for a couple hours for the difficulty retarget to kick in. Good for those enough that were stupid enough to go home for lunch and restart our miners with the new port!

such smart.

Unfortunately the exchange rates are plummeting.

so poop.

Coupled with the huge drop in the value of BTC today, double whammy for the value of doge.

wow.

I see people on some local forum speculate with btc/ltc/doge, and some of them made ridiculous amount of money (as in, thousands of $) in last two days just trading this and that. Just wtf... I wish my head was capable of that.

FYI: doge.netcodepoolers...

CHANGE YOUR PORT NUMBER TO 4094 (if you were previously using 4093).

They said 4094 was added for load balancing? Well, 4093 has been DOWN for the last hour or two.

Thanks!

I needed that info. My cg miner was just hanging on the black screen with no info so I switched my rig back to LTC.

I wish I had been physically capable of that. My head is certainly capable of it if I apply myself. I just don't have the physical resources to do that. Yet.

It's probably all for naught since this latest crypto-recession might end up being permanent knowing my luck (I'm spending cash to get hardware as of this week), but at least even if things crash that means mining will be cheap.

If you're not using cgminer, with a config file, with multiple (backup) pools defined, you're doing it wrong!

That's the problem with doge... read the last couple pages. The other doge pools have been... lackluster. Even as backups.

You know what's poop?
The fact that the continuous GHash/s increase is making our dogecoin income smaller and smaller,
but that same network increase is not big enough to make dogecoin enough of a rarity.

So what we should do is either sell... yesterday, or hope and wait that the network size (and trade ofc) increases our dogecoins value.

A bit over one day of mining dog tags... and I only have 30k of them. How the hell did people mine millions of them? I mean, not at the very beginning.
Looks like this is pointless effort.

They had this ridiculously staggered reward system where the first few blocks handed out a million coins each.

Evil genius if you ask me... give the first miners the opportunity to become a millionaire overnight, and watch your altcoin catch on faster than any other coin in history.

But, seriously... why is Bitcoin crashing in value today? The BTC-E people seem to think that it has something to do with BTC China now charging commissions on their currency exchange. Doesn't every other exchange already do this?

It pretty much went viral. From nothing to the #4th most mined coin in a week. During the weekend it was around 1 GHash and today it's at 7 GHash. It just exploded. I believe the difficulty was 17 on Friday night, now it's at 80.

Whether it will go up, down, or fizzle out remains to be seen. One things for sure, it's no longer easy for a casual miner to become a doge-millionaire (unless it crashes and you buy them cheap).

I think the massive drop in bitcoin may cause people to refrain from the hype a bit.

@ultitmatenoob

Nope. Read that main Dogecoin post.
It has allways been 1-1,000,000 for each block, and it will continue so till 100,000 blocks are found.
And no premining handouts or shitty deployment like some other coins.

Being first is allays an opportunity.
Getting there where thousands of others are already standing - there is nothing extraordinary about it, so why should reward be such?

It's crashing because of... FREE TRADE. What else. Dogecoin profitability $/(hash/s) is heading to standards set by other Scrypt coins.

Well said, couldn't of said it better myself.

People keep saying because it's Dogecoin that it won't last. Realisitcally it's had the fastest expansion of any coin. It's actually realatively smart. And in the end, with the BTC traction paving the way, and the explosive start this has. I think it'll surprise a lot of people.

Now that's not to say it'll be worth $800/coin like BTC. There's far to many already out there for that. But I wouldn't put it past being $.25/coin in the end.

Also

http://dogetools.com/calc/

is working again, its calculations were off earleir because someone was manipulating the value on coinedup

Not a problem, set a few doge pools as the first few pools, then a few LTC pools. A miner should never be idle, it should just switch to pool #2, then #3, then #4, as needed...

I just remoted in from work and changed it around right when the new port was introduced.

And now it appears to be completely unreachable.

The irony. I go ahead and spend cash on about 2.5Mhash/s worth of compute, only to watch the virtual currency economy get rocked.

Hopefully this is a good thing? Maybe all of a sudden people will flee for a while and difficulties will drop, meaning MOAR FOR MEEEEEE!!!! Then there will be another huge bubble and it'll be my turn to get rich on imaginary money!

Or I'll just be sitting on a pile of electronics that generate heat and take electricity and make pretty numbers on the screen for a while. Who knows! It'll be fun either way.

nononono... now is too late for diff. drop to make dogecoins mining more profitable

1) it still is! (doge mining still makes you more $$ than other coins)
2) diff. drop does not mean there will be less dogecoins around.
3) simply not possible to go down for quite some time.

What we want/need is an actual market. And for that to happen, you want MOAR people in, not out.

I was talking about other altcoins in terms of difficulty, not doge. 🙂
