They should have stores where children under certain ages are banned, no exceptions.
That would be cool.

I would like to think that that store would never make the one year anniversary mark.

it would if it was for a specific thing. But as a grocery store, cutting out your largest consumer base (families) would be retail suicide. There ARE some places you just shouldn't have kids, like movies, restaurants outside the "fast food" category (unless you kids are behaving well), shops with fragile merchandise, etc

Picture this, without the throwing stuff, for over 4 minutes. Kid was roughly about the same age, a bit younger.

Edit - skip the first 15 seconds

yeah, the dad should have just given in and given him what he wanted, that would solve the problem

What the hell are you talking about? You're saying in that situation you just let the kid go till he runs out of steam?

You punish the kid and/or get him out of there to get him to stop. If you think just letting him keep doing it is the answer.... wow.

Actually, refusing to give the child the desired attention is one of the better ways to handle that situation. While I probably would've recommended she leave the store if it got too bad, she wasn't necessarily doing a bad job. Surprisingly enough, "punishment" can sometimes inadvertently reinforce behavior.

That kid was a little spoiled brat who should've been much better educated by his no good mother, and the mother should have been punished.
However, if a stranger would ever approach to me and/or my child in the manner your buddy did, he would be visiting the dentist afterwards for replacing a couple of lost teeth.
To do something like your friend did, is being stupid, to go a head and brag about it in a forum is being a retard (Get a life buddy).

0/10

exactly. swearing at a (my) little kid? i would have knocked him out. doenst matter that the mother should have considered her surroundings.

You and your kid should live in a cave.

plenty of stores, restaurants, apartments, etc. in NYC that don't allow kids 🙂 I love a restaurant in my area that allows dogs (in the patio) but no kids allowed anywhere 😀 😀 😀

I was under the impression that you can't ban kids because it's age discrimination... Am I wrong?

Serve alcohol?

Kids who control their parents rather than their parents controlling them are a big annoyance to everyone else on site.
What I do when I'm around and such annoyance breaks out is I try to get as far away as possible.
You should be aware that verbal assault like what you friend did could have gotten him into some serious problems, and I mean
anywhere from being beaten down to getting arrested.

I don't think it's fair to expect everyone around you to keep their cool and be mature about your reject-kids when you're such an abismally horrible parent in the first place. What are you afraid of? That the guy yelling at your kids is going to set a bad example? 😕

While I give your friend props for that awesome ownage, it was pretty out of line. The mom's disciplinary attempt was good in theory, but she should have taken the kid outside where he couldn't bother other customers.

being a bad (at least at that moment in time) parent doesnt take away your rights. verbal abuse is still a crime, even if you are doing it because their kid inconvenienced you in some way... oh wait...

"We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone."

Discrimination justification only applies to things like employment, housing, etc.

I bet you are about 20, right? You do realize, that a kid is their own person, and will scream when they want to. I suppose we could stuff a dirty sock in their mouth and tape it into place like your parents did to teach you respect, but hey, different strokes, right?

Your friend could have handled it a little better, but I dont think what he did was completely wrong. The useless mother chose to completely ignore her child, that kind of behavior and the behavior of the child in a public setting is completely unacceptable. Like I said before; good for your friend.

What kind of monster would get in a little kid's face and scream obscenities at him/her? WTF? That guy needs to get professional help.

Your friend is my hero 🙂

Can I borrow him the next time I'm sitting next to someone talking on their cell phone in a movie theater?
